What I wanted to do was not to do the cleaning.

Mr. Baithag left Topysia Soft behind the internet. It's so funny that I'm so scared. You can say that you can do it.

Yes, you can do it for the company, right?

But you don't do it for the company. That's right, it's dangerous for you. Do it for the company, just like this. And if you then do it, you can do it. -That's right? -Save. Like this.

You can do it for the company. Now, let's try it out. It's in authors, 25. This makes nearly 50 total tax that we have.

25 are first 25 Christian examples of Genesis 6.

Being talked about whether it's just a martyr or an AS, or telling, there's a whole bunch of them. 100% of them take the angel view. How many have you ever heard that growing up? Because what I heard going up is that the traditional view

is the Sethi view, and you are bringing a novel interpretation to the text. Guys, when your first 50 examples of this text are all supernatural, I'm not the one who's making stuff up. -Let's go. -Yeah.

[Music] That was Doug Bandorn from our session at Blurry com 3. Last fall here in Nashville, Tennessee. He's been there since the beginning.

and love that guy, and appreciative of all the friendships and the people we've met over the years. And just thank you out there. Everyone who supports the show,

you make this happen,

and we're forever grateful for you guys.

Thank you. He's back. Ahhhh! A Vassie Skello eggs, the tight beer horizon,

and the secrets of the ancients these turn. One mighty captain now comes down the cave, a man who's wrestled with giants, battled the unseen and mapped the forgotten realms, placed your mugs, and rural like a thunder,

for this mythological maniac. Let's go, give it up for Doug Bandorn. It wasn't rushed, but sticks had to do. It's Russia-favorite band.

Yeah. And they're coming to Denver. But they're coming to Denver. They're so excited. They don't know who Russia is.

They haven't seen back to the future yet. They haven't seen back to the future yet. Well, then they really won't know what the greatest 80s movie ever is. What? Strange Brue.

Great Brue. Yeah. The beauty. They've worked our clothes, ain't it? Was that like 80s on Jedi 17 times, eh?

Doug, you've been familiar on the show since the beginning,

and always joked that I had to call the church hotline

and leave a message. Old school. Real 80s to get you to come on the podcast. And so grateful you did. We've had so many great conversations over the years.

And we got another one today. You know? Speaking of changing. We got changing of scripture. It's a really controversial idea.

Yeah.

We were having a fun discussion with us over lunch hour guys. This is going to be a fun one with our favorite other favorite in-house, Theologian Dr. Joel Mottomala, who's backstage. His back is hurt.

He's here. He just learned a back brace because he still thinks he can play basketball. We can get to that tomorrow. It's those carpet floors. That's not what I have. Turn an ankle.

Joel's got more games than that, Nate. But yeah, Doug, this is... Where do we start? Where do we start? All right, guys.

So this is a... Let's see, this is my third glory cone. Yeah, so we did the... We did the... All the glory creatures of the Bible the first year.

Yeah, we did. We didn't have that great overhead, right? And then last year the power went out? It's like 15 minutes. We did that.

And this year is going to be probably the most serious one that I've done. Okay.

So I actually consider this some of my most important work.

And it's why I wanted to bring it to you guys.

That's why you didn't wear your big foot shoes this year.

We're going to talk about Genesis 6. And why it matters. And why actually our view is right. Let's go. Let's go.

Very subtle. Come on, baby. I'm not going to leave anything held back. Yeah. I might get preaching halfway through this thing.

But we're here for, baby. So we'll see. So I'm going to begin this by going to... I'm going to have a little bit of a Bible say today. It's going to...

Some of you might geek out and nerd out here a little bit. We're going to do some textual criticism. That might put some of you to sleep. A couple people. I heard one person.

Woo. Yeah. Textual criticism. Yeah. Other people are like, what is textual criticism?

Well, you are going to find out and you're going to find out why it matters. All right. So I'm going to go to Paul's letters to Timothy and Titus first. Thank you. Five verses.

These five verses have often been taken. It's about the word myth. Paul says things like, have nothing to do with irreverent silly myths.

And I've always heard people say, well,

that this is talking about Greek mythology. You should never talk about that. I don't think so.

You have to read these things in context.

So after he says that, he says, "Rather train yourself for godliness." Which means that the myth that they're entertaining is somehow keeping them from godliness. I've never read a Greek myth that really makes me care either way about how I behave. All right.

Here's another one. These things, the people will turn away from listening to the truth and wandering off into myths. So in this one, the myth is opposed to the truth. Now, honestly, Greek mythology, Babylonian mythology, Egyptian mythology. It's not competing with the Bible for the truth.

It's something else. So it has to be closer to the truth than those things are. How about this one? We did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. But we were eyewitnesses to his majesty.

Talking about the transfiguration, a little thing we talked about last year. We did. Yeah. Then we're getting closer to them here that I want to talk about as we get into this. Devote, they will devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies.

The world's out talking about. The Vinny says that they put them on this. Clearly clearly. Joseph Smith was already living in those days. Perfect.

These things, he says they promote speculations rather than the stewardship that is from God that is by faith. So somehow genealogies and myths are messing around with people's faith in Jesus. Let's. And then here's the last one. They devote themselves to Jewish myths.

And the commands of people to turn away from the truth. And in that context, the truth, it literally is the gospel. Jewish myths that turn people away from the gospel. That's what we're going to look at. Let's do it.

Now, this is an honest caveat in what I'm going to say. This is not in any way meant to be antisemitic. We're not going after the Jewish people here, but we are going to go after the leaders.

In the first and second century that Jesus went after.

Do you remember how badly these scribes, Pharisees, teachers of the law went after Jesus?

And do you remember what Jesus said to them, the things he called them? You're a brood of vipers. You're a white-washed tombs. Whoa, TV, printouts is whoa upon, whoa on these guys. We're going to look at their grand sons today.

All right.

And why in the world this matters the genesis.
