The Department of Natural Resources, as issued the following reminder, migrat...
Residents may observe unusually large groups of birds, remaining motionless for extended periods, either on lawns, trees, or power lines.
“This behavior is not considered abnormal.”
However, if every bird present is facing your residents, and more specifically, appears to be staring directly at you the moment you see them,
close all curtains until sunrise, do not clap, shout, or attempt to disperse them, do not go outside.
“If you already outside, go to the nearest structure and avoid windows.”
Researchers note that birds occasionally orient towards environmental disturbances, not yet understood.
Should they suddenly take flight without producing wingsounds, remain indoors for at least 30 minutes?
“If, after they depart, you hear three measured slow knocks from the roof, please remember that no known native species is capable of knocking in such a manner.”
The Department appreciates your cooperation.
