Let's call the mind all those. We've promised to pray for.

“I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.”

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.

He descended into hell. On the third day, He rose again.

He ascended into heaven and he seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting, amen. Our first mystery in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, you have heard that it was said,

you shall not kill. And whoever kills will be liable to judgment, but I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to hell. How in the world should we understand this? And what does Jesus expect? Well, first of all, we need to make it clear. Anger in itself is not bad. Anger is a God-given emotion and energy that prompts us help us to achieve something difficult, correct some evil, or

endure something we can't change without giving in to despair. So anger is meant to be constructive. It gives us the energy to correct an evil we can change, or endure an evil we can't change. But anger becomes sinful when it becomes destructive. When we blow up curse, yell at our kids, or say and do very hurtful things. And when we waste energy on people or things, we can't change, or have no control over. This destructive anger is what Jesus condemns.

But why do we become so angry? Our Father who art in heaven, hollowed be your name, that kingdom come, that will be done, and earth as it is in heaven. Give us a stare, dearly bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us for me, volemann. have an especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our second mystery, anger is a natural emotional response to what we think is evil or some injustice. So why do we get angry? Usually for one of five reasons. First, there is good anger that springs from a love of justice. We become angry because innocent people are harmed or the weak are exploited or God or our lady were dishonored. Jesus was angry, but he didn't sin because he used his anger constructively when he drove the

money-changers out of the temple. He used it to correct an evil rather than destructively to hurt others.

But then there is sinful anger. Most commonly our pride or our ego has been threatened or wounded. Someone insults us, ignores us, disrespects us, questions are intelligence or authority, or embarrasses or doesn't appreciate us. And what was threatened was not justice, but my ego and here humility needs to remind us that our identity and worth come from God, not from what other people think or say or do. And once we no longer need to defend our ego, anger loses much of

its power. But we also get angry when something we wanted has been blocked or denied us. It might be success or control or recognition, comfort, pleasure or simply peace and quiet. I used to get angry at my kids when I was exhausted and I just wanted a nap and they just wanted my attention. The problem wasn't that they wanted my attention. The problem was that I wasn't willing to let go of what I wanted in order to give them what they need. And we often get angry because we're afraid.

We fear losing something we love. Our reputation, security, someone we care about, and anger rises to protect it. But we also get angry when we've been hurt when someone betrayed, ignored, or rejected us.

“So whatever the reason that causes you to become angry, we need to ask immediately, why am I angry?”

Because the answer will tell you what to do. It will reveal whether you need humility, detachment, trust, forgiveness, or the courage to correct some evil. Our father, who art in heaven, would be your name. Like kingdom come, I will be done in earth as it is in heaven. If us stay, our daily bread and free of us are trespasses, as we forgive those who

If we have trouble with anger, then we need the virtue of meekness, but meekness is not weakness. Meekness is the calm strength that directs anger toward the good. Aristotle describes meekness as a virtue that lies in the middle of two sinful extremes. On one hand, excessive anger. On the other, apathy or indifference.

“Meekness is the virtue of rightly ordered anger. In Scripture says Moses was the most humble and”

meek man on the face of the earth, but he was no whim. He was stood feral to his face and wouldn't

back down, and he had to lead a million stiff-necked Israelites through the wilderness for 40 years.

In one of the greatest events in Exodus chapter 14, the Israelites escaped Egypt and now they were backed up against the Red Sea with an enraged Egyptian army bearing down on them to slaughter them. And in that moment, all the people of Israel lost their heads and they cursed Moses saying, "This is your fault. It would have been better for us to be slaves in Egypt than to be killed in the wilderness, but Moses kept his head. He kept so calm that he could hear the voice of the Lord

telling him, Moses, raise your staff, and the water will part, and you will walk through, and I will drown your enemies." Now imagine if Moses also lost his head. Well, then the Old Testament would be really short than wouldn't it? That's meekness, keeping your head so that you can listen to God and respond in a way that saves lives and not destroy them. repeated practice, so if we want to become meek, then when we begin to get angry, we need to

every day annoyances. Because if you learn to govern your anger in small things, you'll be ready to govern it in big things. So practice meekness, that calm strength,

like traffic, or when you're stuck in line, or when little annoyances or interruptions come.

“That's the training ground. But whatever you do, get a handle on your anger,”

because our Lord said, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment. Our Father, who art in heaven, hollowed be your name. You know, one thing I didn't put in this meditation, Theresa, we use anger like a terrorist. You know, little kids can be really good at this. A little kid can learn that if they throw a fit, it's power to get what they want. You don't have to be reasonable to get what she

“want. You have to be as unreasonable as possible so that people know, I can't solve this by reasoning”

with them. I just have to give in. Yeah, but there are too many adults who act like little kids in this way, that like terrorists that they just blow up in order to have the power to get what they want.

And part of the problem is that we haven't yet figured out how to respond to that as adults,

that with with little toddlers, eventually parents have to find a way to put up with them throwing a tantrum and not give them what they want. But with adults, I feel like we're still in a place where we panic and we think, well, we just want to what's the word. We want to play Kate them. Mm-hmm. So, what we just don't want it. We're even more likely to give them what they want. Because with toddlers, we think, well,

I think that's that's really telling right now. So, what do you think is the best way?

What do you think is the best response to someone who controls others

“by fear through their anger? Honestly, I think it's not very different from a toddler. I think”

it's not being afraid of it being comfortable with their anger, letting them break you as they might want to, letting them do whatever they're going to do, and then just being steadfast despite the anger. It's kind of just like a rock in a storm. And that's maintenance. Mm-hmm. That,

actually the best. You're not being pushed back. You can't be pushed back by it, but you also can't

push because if they're pushed, they're justified. So instead, it's just being steadfast. steadfast. The best illustration of meekness is a rock jutting out of the ocean. The rain, the wind, the waves break upon the rock, but the rock is unmoved. It's to be unmoved. Undisturbed. Yeah. But now we, and that's also kind of what people need when they're angry. They, when I think of my own anger and how unreasonable it can be, I need someone who's just going

to be a rock, who I know I'm not just going to push around, but isn't going to provoke me further. Yeah. But it helps quench my anger when I realize when you're faced with that kind of sternness,

“it helps you get control of yourself. Yeah. It's the best thing we can do for someone in the”

fridge. Yeah. Because when you experience, when you lose your head and you experience the person in front of you, doesn't, they don't lose their head. That becomes a mirror where we see ourselves and we think, wait a minute, I'm acting ridiculous and they're not. That was the biggest thing

for me as a kid, because I've always was a very angry child, just like fits a rage. And I didn't

grow out of it very quickly. I'll tell you what, but one of the best things for me was that my brother's aver who is closest in age to me is just a brick wall when it comes to that sort of thing. Not because he doesn't acknowledge it. He's not, because there's nothing more frustrating. Then when someone laughs in your face because you're angry when someone is, they clearly, they're not even paying attention to it because with the toddler, if you just literally ignore them,

I mean, they'll just get angry. But he would just respond as evenly as I then call me as if I had

“spoken to him simply. Yeah. And immediately, you have to meet him with the same thing, because you”

just, like you said, you feel like an idiot, I would go berate him for something and he would just be like, "Did you want, did you want this?" Okay. It's that simple. That calm strength diffuses so much anger. And it keeps you totally at peace and it keeps you reasonable, intelligent, rational. Because you're not even on the defensive. This steadfastness is not defensiveness and it's not offensiveness. It's just unmoved. A rock. That's the way we have to practice. But that's

based on humility, because in humility, whatever you're saying to me or doing right now, it doesn't really affect me because my dignity and self-worth comes from God, not from you. So I'm unmoved. My dignity, myself, or that it's unchanged. Which means you still can listen to someone in their anger. You can still acknowledge them. You can still interact. But you're not at risk. You're in your peace is not at risk. You're not at risk. Now, we certainly, if someone is physically

attacking you, certainly, get out of harm's way. But for all other things, you're not a risk. Yeah, it's a great image. The rock that's unmoved did the midst of the storm. That's meekness.
