Welcome to our Daily Rosary Meditation.
We are in Warsaw, Poland, at the shrine of Father Eresate, Papyusko, who was martyred, put
to death by the Soviet secret police in 1984. His life and his message are very important for us today. And I have a special guest, praying with me today. Instead of Theresa, we have Sophia, who was one of my youngest pilgrims ever in the Holy Land.
It's great to be with you again. So we begin in the name of the Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit. And let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.
“I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of Heaven and Earth.”
I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell on the third day he rose again.
He ascended into Heaven and he seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sinners, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting in it. Poor Father, who art in Heaven, hollowed be your name.

Our first mystery, Satan's goal, is to destroy the Fatherhood of God in the world, to
remove God the Father from the world. The whole Communist system was built on a lie, God does not exist. There is no higher power than the government, and material reality, what you can see, what
“you can test, that's the only thing that exists.”
There is no soul, there is no spirit, there is no afterlife, and by denying God and religious practice, the Soviets aim to control not only the political, economic, and social fears, but what they really wanted to control was the mind, the conscience, the soul. And when Poland fell under the control of the Soviet Union, the Polish people were denied almost all the freedoms that we enjoy, and maybe we take for granted.
But especially, they were denied the freedom of conscience and the freedom of religion. The Communist government saw the Catholic Church as a threat, due to its influence, and its opposition to atheistic ideology. Churches were closed, clergy were persecuted, and religious activities were restricted. And practicing your faith would often result in discrimination, in employment, and education.
And religious leaders and devout individuals were often under surveillance and faced harassment. In fact, Cardinal Visionski was arrested and imprisoned in solitary confinement for three years, simply because he was the head of the church. Freedom of conscience was suppressed, and those who openly expressed their dissent, faced imprisonment, exile, or worse.

distrust, fracturing of communities, and even families.
“And since the government owned everything, I mean everything.”
They controlled the means of production of prices, so people faced unbelievable inflation, all kinds of shortages. So by August of 1980, the Polish people had had enough, and the workers all over the country began to strike and protest, demanding their human dignity, and demanding that their freedoms be recognized.

Our second mystery, when the steel workers began to strike in Warsaw in August of 1980, Cardinal
Visionski sent Father Earesate Papayushko to celebrate mass for them in the steel mill, and then he became their spiritual leader. Every month he had a special mass for the freedom of Poland celebrated from the balcony in front of the church attended by half of Warsaw. In his homilies, Father Earesate confronted the lie of the communists, and he urged the people
to wake up, saying, "Our slavery comes from our knuckling under to the reign of the lie. We do not unmask that lie, and by doing nothing about it, by our silence, we encourage the lie." Father Earesate became the symbol of the spiritual resistance against communism, a symbol of the moral revolution.
So the communists, they had to do something about it. They had to stop him, but harassment, arrests, multiple interrogations, and increasing media
Propaganda against Father Earesate couldn't make him stop.
So they decided he must die.

as Father Papiushka was returning from celebrating Mass at another parish in the north,
“he and his driver were abducted by the secret police.”
They forced him out of the car, beat him, and threw him into their trunk. Then they drove to a dam on the Vistula River, bound him hand in foot, tied waves to his body, and threw him into the river to drown.
When they found his body, his funeral was attended by a million people.
Then on December 31, 1989, probably partially as a result to his sacrifice, Poland became free. On June 6th, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI, be satisfied with Father Yersie, communism denied religious freedom,
freedom of conscience, and abused the human rights of the Polish people. Father Yersie gave his life defending those freedoms.
It's really amazing, while I was abusing all of my freedoms in 1984,
he died for those freedoms. Maybe I ought to take my own freedoms more seriously and with more gratitude. Our Father Ward and Heaven, hollowed be your name, by kingdom come, by will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this stair, daily bread, forgive us our trespasses,

Happiness comes from pleasure through entertainment and this causes us to be so busy with work to make money and distracted with entertainment that we forget about God. Satan wants to keep you so busy with work and other activities and with your entertainment
“that you have no time to listen to God and do you know what that deadly sin is?”
It is sloth. Sloth is not laziness. Sloth is the habit, the bad habit of stuffing yourself with busyness and entertainment. Stuffing yourself with busyness and entertainment so that you are no longer hungry for God and when you're not hungry for God then you don't seek God and you don't even want to be bothered by God and that leads to a choice, the choice of despair. Now the feeling of despair is the feeling of discouragement. I'm not talking
About that.
The West is in despair and maybe even we are suffering from sloth and despair.

We'd all souls to heaven, especially those in most needed diversity. Our fifth mystery, the remedy to the sin of despair is hope. The virtue of hope, hope means to hunger for God. Hope is to have a hunger for God that makes you go after God. To go after God by daily meditation,
to go after God in the Eucharist, to go after God in reconciliation and learning your faith
“and having spiritual friends. But the only way, think about this. If you eat junk all day long,”
you won't be hungry for the real food that can nourish you physically, right? But the same thing happens spiritually. If we feed ourselves with junk, spiritually, intellectually, with our time all day, we won't be hungry for God. So if you want to be hungry for real food, you've got to cut out the junk. And if you want to be hungry for God, you've got to cut out the junk.
You've got to cut out, and I'm serious, you've got to cut out your addiction to the news. You've got to cut out your addiction to entertainment. Actually, news is just entertainment. You've got to cut out your addiction to YouTube or
Even too many podcasts, not this one.
But if it's necessary for you to grow closer to God and you need more silence, then get rid of
this podcast. I don't care. I just want you to grow closer to God, but you've got to get rid of the junk in your life so that you have more of a hunger for God. So you know every meditation needs to end in a resolution, a concrete choice to do something. So what is the Holy Spirit asking you to get rid of in your life so that you'll have a greater hunger for God? Where are you too busy? Where are you wasting time and distraction?
Ask the Holy Spirit to inspire you to convict you, to cut something out so that you
“have more time for friendship with God and friendship with others. That's what it's all about.”
It's all about friendship with God and friendship with each other.

with you, when you were 10, you came with me to the Holy Land and now you're 14 and you're on
“this pilgrimage in Poland, which is, you know, it's a lot of travel, it's a lot of prayer, it's mass,”
it's saints. I'm so, when I was 14, I was terrible. I didn't care about the faith and here you are.
I'm so impressed with your maturity, seriously, with your maturity.
“Can you tell me, how did you come to have such a strong faith? Why do you have such a strong faith?”
I had good role models, my parents, yeah. Ah, very good. Yeah, you know, so many parents and
grandparents are really worried about their kids and grandkids who have fallen away from the faith.
“And I think this principle is the main thing we need to remember. It's not your responsibility”
to make your kids holy. It's your responsibility to give your kids and grandkids holy parents and holy grandparents. We can't make somebody faithful, but we can give them a good role model. So thank God for your parents and thank God for you Sophia, truly a joy to be with you. Let's be apostles of friendship, good conversation, and the rosary. Share this with others.
