Welcome to our daily Rosary Meditation.

Daily Rosary Meditations for Tuesdays with Troy, the first Tuesday of every month, August 4th.

We cover a lot of material in our podcast, and a lot of questions come up, and Dr. Troy, we will be there to answer all your questions. So join us, Tuesdays with Troy, 6 p.m. Central. Today we take our next step in the sermon on the Mount with our Lord's command to love our enemies. Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of Heaven and Earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ is only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into Heaven, and he seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, a communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting, amen. Our Father, who art in Heaven, hollowed be your name. I kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us a stay, our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses.

As we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation.

Deliver us from evil amen. He will marry full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed,

our Thal among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for sinners, now in the hour of our death, amen. He will marry full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed, our Thal among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for sinners, now in the hour of our death, amen. He will marry full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed, our Thal among women, blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for sinners, now in the hour of our death, amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, as now in the Vershopi, we're all with that, and amen. Our first mystery. In the sermon on the Mount, Jesus taught, you have heard that it was said.

You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you in this way, you will be sons of your Father and heaven. Now, this is not a suggestion. It's a test of whether we are truly Christian or not.

Okay, sure. Maybe the saints can do this, but how can we make this the expectation of the ordinary Christian?

Well, because God is love, and to be united with God, we must become like Him. And if we refuse to love, even our enemies, we are refusing to become like God. And without love, we separate ourselves from God who is love. So if I refuse to love my enemy, I refuse to become like God and one with Him. Now, you may think, "I don't have any enemies."

And that's probably true in one sense, no one's trying to kill you, but most of us have someone we resent. And the person we resent is the person we've made, our enemy. Our Father, who art in heaven, how will it be your name? I kingdom come, I will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Your vests are stare, daily bread, and forgive us, our trespasses.

As we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil amen. Hail Mary Full of Grace, the Lord is with the Blessed Art Al-Mang women, Blessed is a fruit of I-Woon Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in our ensnowen at the hour of our death amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Oh, My Jesus, for give us our sins, save us from the fires of hell.

Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy.

Our second mystery. Now in this passage, in the original Greek, the word for enemies means anyone who is opposed to you, or in conflict with you. An enemy is not just the person who fights me, but the person I refuse to love because I resent them.

Now our enemies are usually the people who have wounded us. Disappointed us or failed us. A parent who neglected us, a spouse who disappointed or betrayed us. A friend who broke trust, a boss who overlooked or humiliated us. A sibling whom we envied.

Basically anyone who failed to give us the love, respect, or care, we desired.

And inside our heart we say, "You owe me." And we make the other our deadder.

And once we make the other person our deadder,

we've made them our enemy. Our father, Wharton heaven, hollowed be your name. Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us a stare, daily bread, and give us our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass against us,

and lead us not into temptation. Deliver us from evil, amen. Our faithful of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed our Thou among women. Blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God.

Pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen. Hey, O Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed our Thou among women. Blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen.

Pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen. Hey, O Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed our Thou among women. Blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen. Hey, O Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed our Thou among women. Blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen. Hey, O Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed our Thou among women.

Blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed our Thou among women.

Blessed is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God. Pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning, has now never shall be.

World without end, amen. Oh, my Jesus. Forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our third mystery.

Resentment is the refusal to release someone from a debt we believe they owe us, because they've heard us or failed to give us what we wanted or needed. Here's how resentment usually unfolds. Someone fails to give us what we think we deserve. Love, affirmation, protection, or justice.

And deep down, even without knowing it, we feel and begin to think, because you failed me, I must not be worth loving. And we experience this as shame. The fear of being unworthy or unloved. And instead of facing the pain directly that I feel unworthy,

I move the focus onto the other person. You wronged me. You owe me.

Now this is a defense mechanism.

We're defending ourselves from feeling shame by blaming the other person.

And while it feels protective, this resentment is really a poison. Resentment is like drinking poison and hoping the other person dies. Or father who art in heaven, hollow would be your name. I kingdom come that will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us a stare at the bread and forgive us our trespasses.

As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation. Let's live for us from evil Amen. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee.

Blessed are Thou among women. Blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God. Pray for us in earth. Hail Mary, full of grace.

The Lord is with thee.

Blessed are Thou among women.

Blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God. Pray for us in earth. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed are Thou among women. Blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God.

Pray for us in earth. And with thee. Blessed are Thou among women. Blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God.

Pray for us in earth. Now in the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed are Thou among women.

Blessed is a fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God. Pray for us in earth. Now in the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace.

The fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God. Pray for us in earth. Now in the hour of our death, amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning, as now in the Reshale, be world without end, amen. Oh, my Jesus. Forgive us, our sins. Save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to have, and especially those most in need of thy mercy.

Our fourth mystery. Now, why is resentment like drinking poison? Well, instead of healing the wound by forgiving the other person, we hold onto the debt. And that unresolved debt keeps the injury alive. As long as the debt remains, the pain remains.

And the wound triggers a fear. Maybe I'm unlovable. Maybe I'm worthless. And this fear causes pain that becomes unbearable. So we try to escape it.

And we instinctively seek relief through destructive behaviors. Addictions to alcohol, drugs, pornography.

Or we eat or drink to numb the pain and offer a false comfort.

Or we could even turn to work a wholeism.

We try to overachieve, trying to prove our value and silence the fear of unworthiness.

Or we binge on entertainment and drown ourselves in media as a distraction. But this causes all kinds of emotional problems like anxiety and depression, rage and bitterness. Resentment can even lead to physical illness. Because chronic resentment activates the body's stress response. We can in the immune system and harming physical health itself.

All because I won't forgive. I won't let go of the debt. So I can't let go of the pain. And I tried to escape the pain in all the wrong ways.

You see the vicious cycle.

As long as I hold onto the debt, I hold onto the pain. And then I need to deal with the pain in a lot of bad ways. That's why it's like drinking poison.

Our father, who art in heaven, hollowed be your name.

That kingdom come, they will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us a stare, daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil amin. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with the blessed Arthal,

Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning, as now and ever shall be, world without end, amen. Oh, my Jesus? Forgive us, our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our fifth mystery, resentment begins when we look to other people to give us what only God can give.

Our identity, our self-worth, and our happiness. When they fail us, reject us, or disappoint us, we begin to believe we're somehow less valuable.

But our worth never came from them in the first place.

It could only come from God. And once I know this, I no longer expect other people to give me what only God can give. Now, they owe me nothing. But it was only people who owe me something that could be my enemies. So once I release the debt, I release the enemy. That is what forgiveness is.

It's not pretending the wrong ever happened. It's releasing the debt. I've been demanding they repay. And Jesus calls us beyond forgiveness to mercy. He concludes this teaching by saying, "Be perfect as you have on a father as perfect,

Or as Luke records it, be merciful as your father as merciful.

Mercy does more than release the debt.

Mercy wills the good of the other. It prays for them.

Speaks well of them and does good things to them. Not because they deserve it, but because God has been merciful to me. This is true freedom. I need nothing from other people. I receive everything from God, and so I am free to love and become like Him.

Our father, who art in heaven, hollowed be your name. That kingdom come, that will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us the stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses.

As we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation.

But deliver us from evil. Amen. You are Mary full of grace, the Lord is with the blessed art thou among women blessed. It is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earns now in the hour of our death. Amen.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and earn now in the hour of our death. Amen. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

O my Jesus. For give us our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to have an especially those most in need of thy mercy. Same Michael, the Archangel, defend us, embattled. He are protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.

Make God review him, we humbly pray and do that old prince of the heavenly host of the power of God cast into hell, Satan in all the evil spirits who cross throughout the world seeking the root of souls. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. So what did that meditation make you think about? Actually, I was thinking that when I'm in heaven,

I won't resent anyone because in heaven I'll be receiving from God everything I could possibly need. There's no debt, there's nothing to be filled because there will be no need. But God is the same in heaven as he is on earth. That's a really good point. God is giving me right now everything I need.

So why would I hold some debt over somebody else? And when we resent people, we kind of want them to lose. We want them not to have a good, but in heaven you won't be rejoicing in their lack of good. You won't rejoice if they're not there. We should pray for them now, work for them now, hope for them now.

Because we won't, right now we might rejoice in someone's downfall.

We certainly won't in heaven.

Yeah, this is what I was thinking. In heaven, God will obviously give me everything I need. So then I won't resent anyone at that point for not giving me what I need.

So why not live that reality now because it is reality?

I definitely thought at first that I was like, "Where is he going with this debt thing?"

But I think it's a very accurate feeling toward about resentment that you do feel like you're owed something, like you're missing something, and you're kind of waiting for that person to fill it. The nature of it is they're not going to fill it, God's going to. But we, I think in a way, we keep the wound open, and we don't let anything else fill it,

because we're like, "No, they're going to put it back."

They're going to put it back exactly as it was, and I won't let any, I won't settle for anything else.

While God is standing over you with like a needle and thread, like, "I can stitch that up." I can make it better than before. I can do so much better, and you're like, "No." Well, I'd almost like little kids, where one little kid takes a stuffed lion from his brother,

and won't give it back, and God's standing there with a whole circus.

He's like, "Do you want this?" But he's just looking at what the other brother has. Yeah. You could have the stuffed lion, or I can give you the whole circus with all the real animals. It all yours. No, no, no, I want that. He took that from me, I want that thing. And I don't just want it back, I want him to give it to me. I will continue to hate him, even if I have it back, if he's not the one, he has to repair it.

Yeah. And we just leave the wound open. We do keep the debt just waiting. God is the only one who can give us everything we need. No one can give us what we think we really need. So why do we keep expecting?

I think the best way, at least for me, for me, the resolution is to...

I have to just keep reminding myself that only God can give me everything I really need. And he is. He is giving me what I need. He is. So, just forget about it. And you'll have much better relationships with everyone you know, even the people you don't resent. If you're not expecting from them, what only God can give.

Yeah, that's it. That's it. Thanks for asking. Thanks for the meditation. Let's be apostles of friendship, good conversation, and the rosary. Share this with others.
