Welcome to our daily rosary meditation, beneath all our daily concerns or dee...

"Who made me? What am I made for? Why is life so hard? Can evil be overcome?

How am I saved? Where do I find the truth? And what will happen after I die?" The Catholic faith answers all these questions, and over this series, we're going to take them one by one. Let's begin in the name of the Father in the Son of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Let's call to mind all those. We've promised to pray for.

I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, He's only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell.

On the third day He rose again, He ascended into heaven, and He seeded at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting, amen. Our Father, who art in heaven, hollowed be your name by kingdom come by will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us a stay, our dearly bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us,

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee blessed, our Thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee blessed, our Thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee blessed, our Thou among women, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning as Thou number shall be, world without end, amen.

Our first mystery. It's amazing the influence parents have on our lives. Each of us receives

good things from our parents, life, but also traits, looks, manners of speech. Usually, our parents give us food and clothing and care. Education, affection, skill sets, and countless other resources. But it's also true that our parents fail each of us in some way, and they fail us by not giving us certain things we have a right to expect. They fail us by not giving us proper care or education. They sometimes fail us by not bringing us up in the faith, and they certainly fail us whenever

they fail to give us a good example. And these things our parents fail to give us, often start us out in life with a sort of handicap. Well, the doctrine of original sin is

basically just the first and most universal case of our parents, not providing us with something

they should have. It's the story of our first parents, Adam and Eve, squandering what should have been our inheritance. And that causes us to start out in life with a kind of existential handicap. But of course, that isn't the end of the story. Jesus Christ comes to restore what Adam lost, and to give us even more than we lost. Our father, who art in heaven, hollowed be your name, that kingdom come,

they will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us a stare, dearly bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not in to temptation, but deliver us from evil amen. You know, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed our Thalmung women, blessed he's a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. As it was in the beginning, as now and ever shall be, world without end, amen. All my Jesus.

Forgive us, our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to have an especially

those most in need of thy mercy. Our second mystery. Theresa, do you know who committed the first sin?

You're afraid it's a trick. I'm terrified it's a trick question. The first sin was committed

before the human race ever entered the picture. It was committed by Satan and his followers. But Satan sin, by itself, couldn't have damaged us if Adam and Eve hadn't listened to Satan in the garden, but they did listen to Satan. They listened to him and decided they wanted to become like God, but without God. And so they turned their back on the creator of all things so they could have what they wanted when they wanted it. It was a sin of pride, a sin of worldliness, a sin of

disobedience, a sin of disorder, desire as every human sin would be ever after. And the thing is, God is the source of all goods, including the good of our own human nature. So you can't

cut off your relationship with God without it having massive negative repercussions throughout

your whole life. And that's exactly what happened to our first parents. They cut themselves off from

God and became wounded in every part of their humanity and then they passed on to us a wounded human nature. Our Father who art in heaven, hollowed be your name, that kingdom come by will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us a stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, deliver us from evil amen. thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed, our Thou among women, blessed is a fruit of

thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the meeting, as now never shall be, world without end, amen.

All my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to have an especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our third mystery, by original sin, Adam and Eve broke their relationship with God, and they lost sanctifying grace. That means they lost the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and their participation in God's own divine life that made them his children, and because you can't hand on what you don't possess, they could no longer pass this

grace onto the human race. So yes, we are born loved by God and made in his image, but without

God's divine life in our souls, that divine life can only be restored by baptism.

Also, the powers of our soul have been wounded because of original sin. Our intellect

has been darkened, and now knowing the truth, especially the most important truths,

can be difficult. It's why we need Jesus and what he teaches through the church. And after original sin, our will is weak. So doing what we're supposed to do is especially when it comes to pursuing the perfection of virtue is hard. And now our feelings are all over the place. Sometimes we have a real desire for things that are totally destructive, and we have a real

distaste for things that are actually good for us. And finally, our physical character is damaged.

We get tired easily. We get horrible illnesses. We fall apart with age, and eventually we die. God didn't make us like this. He didn't make us estranged from him, or psychologically and physically broken. It was our first parents who broke our humanity, and then that broken humanity

was all they were able to hand on to us. Our father, who art in heaven,

Hallow would be your name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us a stay, our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not in too temptation, but deliver us from evil I'm in. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed, our Thal among women, blessed, it is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us in earth,

now in the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed, our Thal among women, blessed, it is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us in earth, now in the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed, our Thal among women, blessed, it is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us in earth, now in the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with

thee, blessed, our Thal among women, blessed, it is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed, our Thal among women, blessed, it is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God,

pray for us in earth, now in the hour of our death, amen.

Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us in earth, now in the hour of our death, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed, our Thal among women, blessed, it is a fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God,

Pray for us in earth, now in the hour of our death, amen.

Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, as now in the Versailles be world without

end, amen. Oh, my Jesus. Forgive us, our sins, save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls

to have an especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our fourth mystery, we should also point out

that the first sin of Adam and Eve didn't just cause us internal damage. It also damaged the way

we relate to the things outside of us. Right after their sin, Adam and Eve can't even look at each other right, so they have to put on clothes. And Adam blames Eve for offering him the apple in the first place, and God says that the relationship between Adam and Eve will be strained from here on out. And then of course, when they have kids, one of their sons kills the other one. So after sin, our relationships with each other are a mess. Men and women, husbands and wives,

parents and children, siblings and strangers. All those relationships are subject to a strain,

and it takes effort to keep them from turning into all out war. And even our relationship with

the natural world is damaged. God says that the ground won't bear food easily, which is a symbol

of the whole way the human person has become out of sync with nature, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis, natural disasters of all kinds show the disconnect between us and our environment. It wasn't this way originally. It's all a consequence of sin. The animals, too, which before the fall came to Adam without fear so that he could name them. But now these flee in fear or sometimes attack us legally. Why did all this happen? Because God is the source

of all order. And you can't damage your relationship with Him without throwing a wrench in the

gears of the world and getting off the kilter with everything else. And this, too, is a part of our

heritage from that first sin of Adam and Eve. Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name.

That kingdom come that will be down on earth as it is in heaven. You vests, stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we free of those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil, amen. Your Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee blessed, our Thalmung women blessed is a food of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen. Your Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee blessed, our Thalmung women blessed is a food of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen. Your Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee blessed, our Thalmung women blessed is a food of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen. Your Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee blessed, our Thalmung women blessed is a food of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us in our ensnown at the hour of our death, amen. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, as now and ever shall be,

We're old without end amen.

hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Our fifth mystery,

Adam and Eve failed us. They lost the life of grace, the indwelling of God, and they handed on a wounded human nature to us. In this way, Adam and Eve are not so different from all parents. Our parents gave us many good things, but they also failed us in some way, and we fail our children too. Why? Because no human Father or Mother is the source of divine life. No human parent is the source of perfect love, mercy, healing, forgiveness, and happiness.

Only God the Father is. And that's why Jesus tells the story of the prodigal son.

The Son is wounded, lost, ashamed, and far from home, but the Father is watching for him. The

Father runs to him. The Father embraces him. The Father restores him.

So don't remain trapped in resentment toward Adam and Eve, and don't remain trapped in resentment toward your parents, and especially don't remain trapped in resentment toward yourself. Just go home to the Father because he's the only one who can ever restore all that was lost. Our Father, who art in heaven, hollowed beer name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us a stare, dearly bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil amen.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was the makin'ing as now

never shall be, world without end amen. All my Jesus. Forgive us, our sins,

save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of thy mercy. Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. Make God, review him, we humbly pray, and do thou, oh Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell, Satan, and all the evil spirits who browse throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. So, Archangel, I wrote a whole meditation just so that I can blame you for. No, let me out the hook. Oh, that's good. That's a way to look at it. Yeah. No, that will be my resolution. Let you off the hook for everything. You just turned it off. I think you did so well.

I have nothing to hold against you.

What were you reflecting on? I'm trying to think of how to summarize this because I'm in a book club right now where we're going through the classics starting in the very beginning. We're going all the way back to the Greeks. And so, I use that preface because it's not like I'm casually reading the Greeks all the time, but we're doing it together and we're motivating each other to do it. And this meditation about original sin and the, especially the familial ties connected with

original sin and this thing where it's one wrong, it gets another wrong. And we're all kind of at a disadvantage there because of this original sin reminded me a lot of the orstaya, which to simplify the orstaya. I won't even spoil the ending for anyone who eventually wants to read the orstaya, but it starts with the Trojan War with this soldier who the gods are like,

you're not going to make it overseas unless you, you have to sacrifice your daughter. The gods

ask that of him and he does it. He gets back from the war. His wife kills him for killing their daughter. And then their son gets back and kills his mother for killing his father. And then the problem with

the whole story in the end, it becomes this huge legal trial. And it's noted as like the first

legal trial in recorded history. It's actually where we get 12 jurors because in the end, they essentially have to have 12 humans, the gods appoint 12 people and they're like, you decide this person's fate. And part of the question is, how far back do we go and what do we consider, how much are you at fault because you are, you did kill your mother and that's bad. And we know that's bad, but she killed your father and that's bad, but he killed your sister and that's bad.

And it's just unraveling all the way backwards. And it reminds me of this thing of original sin where you have to look at two things, which is everything goes all the way back and also we're responsible for our actions. It's these things are objectively bad. And this is also not me defending or the or a staya or their actions within it, but it poses great questions and how we treat that

legally. And one resolution or how that changes how I think about evil acts in my life is that we

should look at it like everyone is to blame, but it's more complicated than that. Our parents will fail us, but their parents failed them, their parents before them failed them, so we should give them a lot of margin for error because we understand that you didn't commit the original sin.

You didn't invent evil. You might have done something bad, but something bad has always preceded

that and to hold ourselves accountable and know that we are still capable of making the right decisions right now. And so it's giving others margin, still holding ourselves accountable because just because someone else has done something doesn't condone our next evil. It goes all the way back and the next one still doesn't have to be done. The next crime. So just interesting to think about. I will say the or a staya doesn't have a perfect legal trial because in the end really it's still just a

god a random Greek god going. This is how I feel about it. So I made the final call, but I don't

know what is how does that strike you about the implications of original sin in our lives?

I was perfectly well explained if we don't grasp two things, I think. If we don't grasp original sin and how only only god the father can restore all things through Christ. If we don't

have those two things then we're just trapped in blame resentment and we never take personal

responsibility for our life. We present out we kind of actually do the inverse most of the time where we think you're fully responsible for all of your sins. You are in the inventor of original sin, your evil. I'm kind of blameless though because everything I did it was because someone else did something worse. Exactly. When we kind of should at least try to approach in our life the inverse. I'm responsible. I should assume you're even less responsible. It's I think one of the biggest

traps is of our ages resentment where we blame everybody else but we don't take personal

Responsibility and the only way out of resentment is forgive them and then lo...

only one who can restore everything. But without this doctrine, this truth about so we had two

days in a row now. So two days yesterday God today original sin. Without these two truths you can't get out of the trap. Because what you're saying is you have this original sin. I want to be God. I want

to be it on my own. I want all the power in my own time and that trickles all the way down. So the

only way at our level where we're at now in history is to think about that original sin and invert it. Yep. Go to God. Say I want to do this your way. Say I want forgiveness your way. I want

things to be fixed your way in your time the way that you want because your God. That's it. The only way

out of the trap is forgive them go to God for everything you everything that you're long for.

Everything you need forgive them they can't provide it. They never could stop blaming them because

they couldn't they never could never could forgive them go to God. It's the only way out Yeah. And I don't know what good it is to go backwards and backwards and backwards, trying to figure out all your wounds because all you do is retraumatize yourself. Yeah. Just forgive them go to God. Yeah. You these so-called doctrines they're the way to life. It's pretty simple.

It seems very complicated but I think you've you've simplified it. Well the church is simplified.

Jesus and the church have simplified it. I just get the benefit of them. Well thanks for the conversation. Thank you. What was the name of that Greek thing? The orstaya. It's very short. It's like a play. It's very violent, very poetic. I probably won't read it. Thank you for the clip note.

That is all you need to know about the orstaya. But it's like half the murder. Let's be

apostles of friendship. Good conversation and the rosary. Share this with others.
