>> I know you're saying heat, but you weren't. You were talking about Julio. We drive that she's our latest guest. You might know her from Seinfeld. You might know her from Veep.

You might know her just by knowing her.

>> Everybody get up for we got Julio the weekday.

>> [APPLAUSE] Just the way we started is we hang out in here for like 45 seconds. And then. >> Hang out where.

>> If you stay on anywhere here, right, basically you walk up.

And I'll only say down here because if you're there, the camera will catch you. We don't get you like walking up. >> Uh-huh. >> But you're going to walk up here.

>> Yeah. >> This like half door will be like this. So you can just pop your head and be like, hello. And then we'll say hey, and then we hug and it's like. >> And then we just hang out.

>> Yeah, okay, that's great. >> Yeah, okay. >> All right. >> Thank you Julio. >> See you in about 45 seconds or whatever.

>> Okay, thank you. >> Yeah. >> Tell me when you want me to go. >> You can start counting now, 30 seconds. >> It's broken.

>> And it is broken. >> It's like almost. >> I glued it. >> I glued it about together. >> Yeah.

>> But it would be very careful. >> I'm really excited to hold it through here so that this does not fall off. >> I'm really excited about today. >> Okay, I'm coming. Are you ready?

>> Yeah. >> Oh, why? >> Come on in. >> Hey. >> Nice.

>> Nice. >> I thought it's the biggest show ever. >> Come on. >> I think you should even go one more. >> No.

>> I don't know. >> This is like being in the Truman show. >> That is still really. >> I like talking to you. >> How does it feel?

>> It would not be this. >> It's not amazing. >> What are you? >> I'm a mother. >> What am I?

I don't know what I am. >> You know what? I would love to show you one item. >> Hold on a second. >> This has been framed and in my house.

>> That's me. >> Yeah. >> I've had this up in this home for about a decade. >> No way. >> Yeah, I thought it was a flea marketer.

I forget where I saw it. >> It's like this. >> Is it like a card or a what? >> The person that did this has other ones of like other cast members of signed phone and many other shows as well.

I don't know. >> We do the same gag with it. >> We're a second. >> No, we don't. >> And the frames.

>> It's a camera. >> Yeah, that's her. >> That's so cute. I like it. Even the shoes.

>> Yeah. >> And the toilet paper. >> And the toilet paper. >> I find one like that on Etsy. >> Yeah.

>> I still have those shoes. You know, this jacket I'm wearing is from back then. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> You're on the show or not even.

>> I think I wore it on the show.

>> Wait, this jacket is from what year is this jacket from?

>> Like the early, uh, wait, when did it, in that, it's from the 90s. >> Oh my, wow. >> Yeah. Did you get to keep some of the wardrobe? >> Yeah.

>> Oh, wow. >> All of my wardrobe, the entirety of it.

This is solely from my show that I never go close shopping, but whenever I do a

season of my show, I get all these new clothes. >> This is a good shirt. >> Yeah, from my show. >> Is that one? >> No.

>> I've tried to shop for him. >> I know. >> But it's based off of a shirt that I had that you said you liked it from my show. >> I like when he wears them.

>> One button too low. >> Is that okay? >> Yeah. >> How did this button button before? >> No, I like it though.

>> It kind of felt like it looked like it was going to pop. >> Let me say. >> Just felt like to see how it looked. >> Yeah. >> Yeah.

>> The shirt doesn't fit. >> Yeah. >> The shirt doesn't fit. >> The shirt doesn't fit. >> The shirt doesn't fit.

>> The shirt doesn't fit. >> I think you should even go one more. >> No. >> No more. >> We said no.

>> No. >> You can't go one more. You have two boys. Are they similar? >> You have two boys.

Do they wear their shirts low? >> Yeah. They look just like you guys. >> Do they? >> No.

>> Tell us about your boys. >> They are 28 and 33. >> Is that how old you go? >> He's like your shirt.

>> I've been saying that I think how old are you?

>> 28. >> He's 10 years old. >> I'm not 28. How old are you? We're born five days apart.

>> We're born 37. >> You're pretty much 38. >> But I feel as though I carry myself like I'm 28. >> We. >> Yeah.

You have young, young, young vibes. >> Are they like I'm 31? >> No actually. You both need about about 28. >> Yes.

>> Do you know Chris then? >> 20. >> 21. Actually. >> Yeah.

>> You've seen like a mature 21. >> Do you know? >> Do you know what I mean? >> Yeah. >> I'm like really why.

That's what I want. I want to look 21. But be so. >> You look absolutely beautiful. >> That's so sweet.

I told him to say that. >> She doesn't. She doesn't. >> Yes, I do. I don't think it's important.

I only say it when I'm struck by it, which is often. >> We're so nice. >> Maybe I should say it. But I'm not struck by it. But I think it's so genuine every time I say it.

>> I really appreciate it. >> Yeah.

>> You need to always say it.

>> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Every day. >> We have two stories when we first started one.

When we first started dating, it was like the beginning of COVID. And obviously I used to watch, sign-filed, but I never watched it. I became you, it's mostly because of you. I watched it every day for confidence. Because I felt like your character did such a good job of being

herself, it's probably how you are.

Being confident and being around men, but not losing

your sense of, she was still feminine. And I feel like when I started dating day, I was so nervous about being judged or like. So it helped me, like, I feel like it helped give me my sense of self. >> My God, I'm so happy to hear that.

>> Yeah. >> And then he used to be like, give me my sense. >> That is amazing. >> My story about watching time called is so different.

The first time, when I was about, I was about,

maybe eight, maybe eight or I can't even see you. No, do watch this. >> No, I'm going to get you a chair. >> Watch this. >> No, I want to be sitting down like this.

>> Okay, watch this. >> Okay, watch this. >> When I was like, I can't even believe I'm telling. This is so stupid. I was about, maybe seven or eight, okay.

And my family, sign fell was a religious experience. Every, it was a thing that happened. >> Yeah.

>> And I remember, and I don't remember many things from being a child.

>> Really? >> So, not at that age. No, I think I blocked that a lot. So, I'm like seven or eight. And everyone's watching sign fell.

And I really have to use the restroom. I got to go number two. So, I go up. And it was the first time in my, >> We can't go eight minutes without touching it at all.

>> It was the first time in my life that I ever consciously experienced constipation. I got really conscious. And I couldn't get it out. And I was embarrassed.

So, I went back downstairs. Like it would mid. And I was like, I'm just going to remember going through my head. I'm like, I'm just going to like keep this here and it'll go away. And my parents had to go to CV.

Someone went to CVS and bought, what is it? >> Yeah. >> And a month when the water squirter. But they made me wait until the show was over. Because they said they had to watch, they said we can't go yet.

So, I had to stand up. I remember standing and wait because they were like, don't sit down.

>> I never heard you say this.

>> I know. >> And I just remembered it. And I was standing up, just pacing back and forth. >> Because back then you couldn't watch the show. >> Waiting for the show.

>> Yeah, but you had to watch it when it came out. >> Yeah, I don't want you to record it. >> No. >> 100%. >> You would have had to have a VCR right there with the tape in there.

They didn't want to miss any. >> I guess so. >> There was no reference. >> There was no reference. >> There was no direct TV or recording.

>> No, but there were a bit. >> But you had to have, but you had to have had a VCR. And every no one to move. >> When it was happening. >> When you do it in advance, knowing that this is the goal.

>> Or you do it in the commercial. >> I'm just trying to help you. >> Maybe I'll call my parents a little ask. So, I remember they went. And then everyone, I remember how embarrassed I was.

My whole family was gathered in the bathroom. And I got it out after. It all worked out. >> It all worked out. >> They all lived happily ever after.

It's perfect story.

>> I think we're all a little nervous because how important you are to our lives.

>> Oh my God, please don't be nervous. >> I mean, once you get to know me, you'll see. It's nothing. >> You've already done like every. >> I like to work.

>> Yeah. >> When the mountain, you've climbed it so many times. >> Yeah, it's not what it's about. >> No, I like creating. >> Yeah.

>> How many are women in comedy changed?

>> Women are much more powerful in comedy now.

I think that when I first started out. I mean, I don't know if that's your experience. But I mean, yeah, sure, which is a good thing. I mean, when I was back when I was even on SNL, I mean, it was just like the girl part.

>> Yeah. >> Wait, were you on SNL, and then Seinfeld, or Seinfeld? How was that? >> That's where I met Larry, David. >> Got it.

>> By the way, I was on the phone with Jeff Shea for coming. >> Oh, you call him. >> And he says hi, and he says. >> Wait, was he just a random? >> No, I can't be.

>> No, I called him and said, I'm coming to do this thing. Is there any-- >> He said no. >> He said, don't do it. >> He said, nice things.

>> Yeah. >> Okay, good. >> What type of name? >> We love Jeff. >> From the Seinfeld coaching tree of comedy.

Because Jeff is my mentor. >> Yeah, Jeff's great. Yeah. Jeff is, you know, Larry, and then Benny's under my tree. And so on and so forth.

>> Yeah. >> Love your TV show. >> Thank you. >> Really. >> Thank you.

>> Yeah. And it was my kids who turned me on to it. It was fucking hilarious. >> Thank you. That means the world.

>> Yeah. It was really, really funny.

In fact, one of my kids read for a part on your show, I remember.

>> Really? >> Yeah. >> But I forgot the name. The part says, sorry. >> That's okay.

>> Yeah. >> But I feel like a lane as a character. To me, as far as just being a powerful voice in the comedy, like the alien character, I felt like was, I mean, it was like one of the first times in comedy where I really saw women have such a powerful, like, I feel like it's what you were saying.

>> Larry and I knew each other back during SNL days.

Because he was there. I was there for three years and he was there.

My third year, his one and only here.

And we were sort of miserable on that show together and kind of hung out together. And then we went off and did different things. He was a stand up, of course. And I did, like, I got a pilot and I did a series for two years on NBC. Anyway, long story short, he had written this thing and he sent it to me.

It was like four episodes. It was only four. They'd only order four. >> Yeah. >> Oh, yeah.

They've done a pilot and then the network said you need to add a girl.

>> Oh, wow. >> Really? >> So, you call by the network? >> Yeah. >> Yeah.

>> And there's literally my favorite character on the show. >> Actually, you know, I did, I was at the, it's funny that you say that because Jerry did a thing when I got, at the Kenny Center, got the Mark Twain Award a couple years ago and Jerry spoke and he talked about the network note of that. And it was actually really funny speech.

>> And you say in that in that moment, I reminded you a little bit of Jerry. >> No. >> Okay. >> [LAUGH] >> Understood.

Go on. >> But anyway, and so we sent the four episodes and it was really unusual script. And so I think there was something about being kind of, just sort of, what's the word I'm looking for. It was just like friends, being friends together and just hanging out.

And I mean, that it just, that sounds as if it was just hanging out. It was a lot of work to make the show, of course. >> Yeah. >> But what I mean was there wasn't like, we were all, we're like kids. >> Yeah.

>> And we had our own idea and they had their own idea of exactly what they wanted to do, which was not the norm at the time in terms of structure television. And so I think there was an era of freedom because of that. >> Yeah.

>> You know, feel it when you watch, I think the chemistry is just so unreal that you feel,

you just feel the freedom, which is it's rare. I feel like we were watching TV. >> We had a lot of fun making it. >> Yeah. >> Yeah.

>> When you guys were filming like the first, were you like, this thing's going to be huge? Are you had no idea? >> Oh, no. I thought it was really good, though. >> Yeah.

>> Those first four thought, wow, this is so unusual.

And then the network is too stupid, they'll never.

>> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. >> I mean, the shows that were on them were like, cause being, you know. And I know disrespect, though.

>> No, no, no, it's just a different format. >> Right. >> Yeah. >> You set up set up joke, set up set up joke. >> Yeah.

>> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> And this was just sort of like odd. >> It's not so odd now, but you're a retrospect. >> No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

>> I'm going to start it in. >> Yeah, yeah. >> It's not beat this without sign-phone existing.

I really think one of the biggest inspirations of us even doing this was trying to capture

the feeling of like the 90s sitcoms were just a group of friends hanging out. >> [LAUGH] >> Miss it, I'm glad I'm worth it. >> You feel it, right?

>> Well, this is different, because it's also podcast, but we would always say like,

>> It's not a podcast. >> Or whatever it is. >> Yeah. >> By the way, what the fuck's happening with podcast now? Because everything's now, it's a video.

>> Yeah. >> It's a television show. >> Yeah. >> I don't know, I don't know what it is, Julia. I really don't.

>> I mean, you really don't know what it is. >> I don't. >> We're trying to redefine it. >> You're trying to redefine it. >> redefine it.

>> But so this is going to be like on YouTube, is that the deal? >> Yes, piece. >> Digital streaming platform. >> But then you can get it as an audio. >> Yeah, digital streaming platform.

>> We can get it as an audio. >> We can get it as an audio. >> We can get it as an audio. >> We can get it as an audio. >> And then what's happening with like even Spotify currently in Apple is getting into it

is that they have videos now. So it's like Spotify has video. >> Yeah. >> If you want it. That's like in our first episode that came out, we get into an argument about a sauce about a marinade.

Whether people, whether they believe that nobody makes marinade. >> No, that's not the problem. >> That's the problem. >> That wasn't the, okay, okay. >> I said it right.

>> We're going to be getting it. >> The argument was that most people don't make their own sauce from scratch. >> Yes. >> And that's to me I stand by that. >> I'm not sure if you can get it.

>> I'm not sure if you can get it. >> I'm not sure if you can get it. >> I'm not sure if you can get it. >> I'm not sure if you can get it. >> I'm not sure if you can get it.

>> I'm not sure if you can get it. >> I'm not sure if you can get it.

>> I'm not sure if you can get it. >> I'm not sure if you can get it. >> I'm not sure if you can get it. >> I'm not sure if you can get it. >> I'm not sure if you can get it.

>> I'm not sure if you can get it. >> I'm not sure if you can get it.

>> That was the first time it's so good,

and it's beautiful. >> I get excited about these drinks. >> I love a red bowl and I love caffeine. >> I'm so happy you have the energizers and refreshers have caffeine. >> This is a product I genuinely get excited to speak about.

>> It's not good. >> Of course, they have many of flavor. They got strawberry, watermelon, refreshers. They got sprightberry, blast. >> Love that one.

>> Love both. >> Love them all. >> Cheers. >> Try one of the many new drinks, like the red bowl, dragonberry, energizer.

>> Don't let McDonald's. >> Let's talk about C.L.R. Brands. >> Tells you more, and most come over. >> Well, I was just going to ask you Dave. >> What? >> Have you ever cleaned a bathroom?

>> I've picked up after myself. >> Have you ever cleaned one? >> From the ground up? >> Yeah. >> No.

>> Do you? >> Yes. >> Well, let me get started. >> With C.L.R. >> Brume calcium lime and rush from over,

I can get on my hands and knees and spilt, and I'm ready. And I think she would like that. >> And a blast calcium dissolves lime and zaps. All that breast.

>> You're talking to them. >> C.L.R. >> Yeah. >> You know it next time, I'm in the bathroom. I'm going to look around.

And I'm going to see what areas I can spray. I'm not much of a cleaner. I do other things. >> But now that you have-- >> But I can't become--

>> I will become. >> Learn more at C.L.R. Brands.com/peptalk. >> But I need to know something, because we're in the middle of something right now. >> Yeah.

>> Your kids. >> Your kids. >> Your kids. >> You better not be talking about sauce. >> Yeah, I am.

>> Your kids. >> Yeah. >> So what are each of their names? >> Charlie and Henry. >> Okay.

>> Charlie. >> Has Charlie ever made a sauce for a-- >> I doubt it. >> Okay. >> Okay, because--

>> Yes. >> Okay. >> All right, so two to one so far. Now, has-- Do you have a husband still?

>> Yes, I still do. >> Has your-- >> You know what? We're-- I don't know.

>> I don't know. >> You have married a lot of time, right? >> Yeah. >> Has he ever made a sauce? >> Yes.

>> Okay. >> You guys want to sit on the couch? >> Yes. >> Yes. >> Guys, in the comments, I know we've already done this, and I won the argument.

>> Well, I think you need another focus.

Then marinade. The world is blowing up. >> You want to come up with our new focus? >> We're the cameras. Oh, they're everywhere.

>> They're everywhere. >> Oh, yeah. Don't worry. Which angle do you like the best? >> I can't.

I don't know. Do you have it? Do you have an angle? I just learned that everybody has a angle. >> Yeah.

>> I think I have a side, but I'm sort of giving up on all of that. >> Do you know when you first walked in, I said to her-- >> But as you were walking, I said-- >> I used a different word, but I said-- >> What?

>> Well, I said, she's so hot in a property. >> Really? >> I said, you're like-- >> They're so nice. >> They're so nice.

>> You really are. >> You really are. >> You really are. >> You really are stunning. >> This is so nice for you to say.

>> I didn't hear them act upon right now, of course. >> No, you are beautiful.

But you've always-- we've all known that.

>> Sure, I know. >> I'm not surprised. You're going to show the Versailles felt, and you're dressed in this-- You're so stylish. >> That's so nice of you to say.

>> You're very stylish. >> You really made me feel good. Thank you. Do you feel pressure to have to when you meet people that they're going to-- >> I feel like--

>> Do you just feel like people have such an expectation of you since you've been seen so much?

>> Yeah, but I don't pay attention to that, because otherwise you're going to go mad. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I mean, for real, you're going to go absolutely mad. >> Yeah.

>> Did you never pay attention to it back in the beginning? >> Yeah. >> Do you pay it? Were you really-- I guess there was no social media. So it's not like you had comments to read or anything.

>> Thank God. >> Yeah, I'm totally not bad. >> None of it. >> Yeah. >> Honestly, isn't it just the end of the world?

>> It's hard to remember. >> It's really hard. I don't read comments. I mean, I'm on social media, but I do not look at anything. >> Was it a trip to watch you become the most famous woman in America?

>> Well, first of all, I'm not. >> No, but sad.

>> I've never-- at that time when you're silent, I can't imagine you're not being--

I mean, that's like you're like the biggest show ever. >> Yeah, I think-- yes, it's definitely a big show. But you know, I think that after the show ended, it got even bigger. >> Yeah. >> I understand that.

>> You feel mean about that. >> But it was so big, like the finale, like you couldn't-- It was the biggest show in America when it ended. >> I know, but you know, I was so surprised at all that attention. Really?

>> Oh, yeah.

>> Are you still surprised?

Because it's still going. >> It's still not the game. >> Yeah, it's weird, isn't it? >> I got a question. And maybe this-- I don't think there's an appropriate at all.

>> I'll tell you. >> Did you like friends? >> I didn't really watch friends. >> Wow. >> Sorry.

>> I mean, I've seen bits and bobs of it. But I was-- you know, I've choosed me. When I was doing some time felt, I had both of my kids during that time. >> Really?

>> Yeah. >> And you'll see, I mean, if you want children-- >> I do. >> Okay, so you'll see if you're working and you have kids. That's a balancing act, like no other.

>> I can't. >> And so I wasn't-- >> No, for real. >> I mean, I really was trying to-- >> Yeah.

>> So you had both, like, you gave birth and then went back to filming. >> Yeah.

>> That's why I was enormous on that show.

I was going up and down, up and down in pregnancy. >> Yeah. >> Was it at the time, like friends and sign-fled, like, were they like pinning you guys against each other? >> No, because they came after us.

I mean, there was an overlap, but we were first out-- >> Yeah. >> It was cheers, then sign-fled came along. We overlap with cheers for a while. And then, I mean, we could look it up.

I don't really remember the years, but yeah. >> I read the sign, but I read the-- I think it was a sign-fled book or something. But there was one overlap, because it wasn't like a New York City blackout, and then they did something that you guys like all coordinate,

like the TV shows.

>> That was what Larry would never do it.

>> And they see one to do, like, cross-over episode, where, like, each episode has a blackout. And Larry's like, no fucking way out. >> We can do the friends and sign-fled-- >> No, no, no, no.

They were like, it needs to-- If it's a blackout, I think-- >> Yeah, I think it was something like, you know, that was the network idea that, you know, because that was what's it called, must see TV back then.

Everybody was watching on Thursday night. And so the idea would be, like, all the episodes have a blackout to contend with, and that's lots of fun for the audience. But Larry, not in a million years, we'll go along with anything like that.

>> And did you respect that he had that kind of-- >> 100%.

>> What do you think made Larry want to be not the star?

You want to be-- no, want to be the star. After all those years of making sign-- he made sign-felt, he got to, like, he got all the glory of making sign-felt, got all the success, and then, like, like--

>> Nobody was. You said, you know what? I'm the man right now. And I got to show everybody. >> Yeah, I mean, I mean, the curb is a--

>> No, I mean, I did, for a show. And yeah, and I mean, and he was a stand-up. >> Yeah, he's such a great on-screen performer. >> Yeah, but that's the best ever, and why didn't he do it back then? >> I don't know.

>> Yeah. >> So good, I mean, it's just like the one thing, you could make that argument about a lot of things, but I mean, he's also a really good writer. >> Jason Alexander was just better at the time.

>> Yeah, yeah, it's-- >> Maybe. >> Are you talking about-- >> I know it was interesting. It was interesting.

I always found that interesting.

>> You should have Larry on this thing. >> I know, I got-- >> Do you think I can get-- >> Got him in your opinion. >> Yeah, it'd be hard to get, but if I have a chance,

it's through Jeff. >> It's so Jeff, he will be hard to get, and he'll probably won't do it. >> Yeah, who should try it? >> I'm going to try it.

>> Ask him, I don't know. >> Yeah, we'll have him out. We got to have him out. Do you watch any of your old stuff? >> Yeah.

>> Did you ever watch it? Like, would you ever watch it? >> No, not much, you know. >> When you watch your stuff? >> When you watch it, maybe once back in the day.

But like, even with the beep, I don't-- >> I love the beep. >> I love the beep. >> Yeah, I do. >> But I love the beep.

>> Me and my mom got me into beep. >> Oh, she did. >> Some people I work with, like, guys who are even comedians, so funny and charming, they can't watch an ounce of footage of themselves that would do it.

Me, like, I sit in the edit, and I dial in my own delivery. Like, when you watch yourself, is it harder? Like, oh, I love watching myself. >> Yeah. >> And so I would definitely watch it.

But it's kind of also like going back and watching early. Steph is sort of like going through a high school year. Book to a certain extent, because it is quite a while ago. So it's like only so much of that I can take. >> Yeah.

>> But I understand. >> Yeah. >> You ever? >> Like, if you're like in a hotel room, and you like turn on the TV, and it's like sci-felt or beep, are you just like,

are you like, ooh, and you got to turn it? Or do you sit there and you're like, oh, and you kind of like, go down memory lane.

>> I don't usually watch it, but you know what's really funny?

>> Yeah. >> And it's really sweet. My husband does. >> Yeah. >> Like sometimes he'll be laughing, and he's just watching,

he was watching bloopers or something. >> Yeah. >> That mind. >> And I can't believe he's watching that, he loves it. >> What's the secret to being, you guys have been married for,

I've just googled it before you came here. >> Yeah. >> Long time, congratulations. >> Long time. >> How long?

>> There's said 38 years. >> 38 years, yeah. >> We all just got married. Well, we got married in August, and he got married in September. >> Wow.

>> Well, that's so cool. >> Yeah, how do you keep it going? >> How do you keep it going for so long? >> I don't think it's going to be a challenge, but I don't think so either. >> But I think it's good to take it.

>> But that would be challenges ahead. >> Yes. >> No doubt, kids. >> Kids. >> Kids were scared, kids were going to rock our world.

We know they are.

>> Well, by the way, what do you mean you're scared? They are. >> They are. >> They are. >> Yeah, I can't believe everyone's world gets rocked.

So if we're like a problem. >> We're going to have a baby soon? I mean, it's, we should, proud of it in the next few years. >> Yeah. >> Here's why it's going to be good and also why it's challenging.

>> Yeah. >> So on it, I mean, I know you guys have partners and you're in love and that's great and everything.

But ultimately, your ego is what you look after.

>> Yeah, yeah, I agree. >> And then you can have a child. And your child's ego will be in front of yours. >> And I need that. >> Yeah.

>> Well, don't have a kid because you need it. >> I won't. >> Don't. >> Don't.

>> So on the side, you're, everything about your life is back burner and everything about this creature's life is front burner.

>> Yeah. >> And that's a big life adjustment. >> That's a real shift. >> Yeah. >> For reals.

>> Yes, happier. Happy your life? >> Ultimately, a happier life. But I'm not going to lie. It's a big adjustment.

>> It's only like 55% happier, 45% less. >> Thereabouts, no. [ Laughter ] >> I feel like the relationship to them. Because I imagine when I have a kid, like I'm going to be so focused on the kid and then it's like,

and then if you're working, you're doing all these other things and then you got to maintain a relationship with your partner. >> Yeah. >> Just like everybody does it by the way. >> You know, my wife talked about this a lot and you're like the perfect person to ask this. >> All right.

I'm sure I'm going to get the answer wrong. >> No, no.

And I think about a lot and I always try to ask people that are in your position.

>> Yes. >> How? [ Laughter ] >> There's two of them. >> There's such a, like, [ Laughter ]

>> But the main one is like, how do you make it all work with, you know, you're successful. You're forward facing both me and my wife are forward facing people. How do you keep your children egg-rounded?

How do you ensure that their life is as normal as possible while growing up?

>> Well, I mean, I assume you have sort of moral compass that you go by and you just have to live that, you know, and the trappings of this town in particular. >> How do you protect yourself? >> Do you raise your kids here? >> Yeah.

>> And when we first moved here, even before we were married and I said to Brad, I said, okay, that's fine. We can live here because we're looking for a work. We can live here. That's fine for now. We can even get married here, but I refuse.

If we have kids, refuse to raise my kids here, and then we raise them both here. >> And they turned out great. >> Yeah. >> So there are enough great kids that I've met that, it's really the parents, obviously. Another's trappings and whatnot.

There's, I've met too many great kids that are LA based to before. >> Where did you grow up? >> Philly.

So you can, you know, imagine that grit and the hard work that I've met.

>> My parents lived in Philly for about 10 years. >> Oh, yeah. >> It's a nice town. >> I just feel like in LA, the kids grow up. And there's so many things that just didn't exist.

It's like there's social media and it's like, >> Well, that's something you've got. When you have kids, that you're going to figure that one out. >> That's like a nightmare. >> You've got to keep those kids off screen.

>> Keep it off screen. >> Yeah. >> You can't get like your brain. >> I know. My nephew has kids, and he was saying when they come home, they take the phone and put it in a basket.

We're off phones. >> Yeah. >> And the house for kids. >> Yeah. >> And that's going to be hard, but I think you're going to do it.

>> How did you do it on set? Like, you had children, you're on set. And like, you're like, because you still worked through. >> I had a nursery. I had a nursery right next to my dressing room.

>> That's what we were talking about all this stuff.

>> Yeah. >> So they came to work with you. >> Yeah. >> Keep thinking of this thing. >> That's what she said.

>> Yeah. >> It was tough. >> Yeah. >> I'm not even sure it was the right thing to do. >> Did you ever--

>> Did you ever-- >> For either one of your kids, where you're like, I'm taking a four months to just make sure I'm-- >> Yeah. I mean, there were a lot of jobs I didn't take. >> Okay.

>> Yeah. >> You look back. You said it was really hard, but I know it was. >> But it was also divine. >> Yeah.

>> Perfect. >> So you have, it's just a mixed bag, probably. You were overwhelmed with work and with the kids, but you don't have-- >> Yeah, I wish I had one more. >> Yeah.

>> Yeah. >> One more season? >> No, one more. >> Yeah. >> We're going live.

You've been in life. Oh, tell me more. >> Well, you know you've been. >> I know the brand. >> I love brands.

>> Yeah. >> You know, you won an item. You go to eBay. >> Bit or buy now. >> They don't worth.

>> Now they have live. >> Like large options. >> Like you can see it. >> Yeah. >> Like all this right now, like this one.

>> Are they big sports fans? >> Younger son Charlie was a played division one. >> Really? >> I played it Northwestern. >> You went to Northwestern.

>> I went to Northwestern. >> That's the real end. >> They were losing the first runner. >> No, they made it to the second round. >> Did he ever play or no?

>> He played. He was a walk-on, but he definitely played. >> I wish I was still whooping. >> I have two questions. >> I have two questions.

>> I have two questions. >> One question I need to know. >> What? >> What's your favorite breakfast? >> No, it's just the prefaces.

>> One question. >> You know your hobbies. >> Well, I'm a big hiker. I'm a big exerciseer. >> Do you hike every day?

>> I try to hike. >> No, not every day, but maybe three or four times a week. >> You don't go alone, do you? >> Uh-huh.

>> Are you never worried?

>> Zero killer? >> Well. >> I've lived in LA for 14 years. I've never been on more than one hike. >> The one I took.

>> I've been on one hike. >> And how to go? >> Not that well, I guess. >> I took 'em. I begged for him to go on a hike.

With me, and I picked. It was like, how to stay. Where did you go? >> You go to Friday. >> I don't know.

>> We went out somewhere in Malibu. >> The lands were like every bit of land. The leaf color was like burnt. >> Well, you need to go now. >> You need to go now.

>> Post all these gorgeous rains. >> It was raining. >> And I did this thing. >> No, you really should. You go like, where are we going?

Where is the guy? >> It was a little lonely on a hike. >> Okay, that's your hobby number one. >> That's my hobby number.

My next hobby is where's the bathroom I have to go pay?

>> This episode is brought to you by better help. >> Dave, what is one small habit that's made a difference in your mental health? >> Well, one small habit. >> Well, I, whenever I get stressed about the future, I'm really trying to make myself think about how lucky I am about my present.

>> Oh, that's great. >> Very basic line of thinking, but those types of conversations help when I have those with myself mentally. >> Yeah. >> Me, myself, and he, who's he?

>> I, and for sometimes I, as he. >> I like that. It's a little bit different for you.

So you're not always thinking about I.

>> A strawberry with chocolate? >> Yes. >> 100%. >> Oh. >> I would love one.

>> We also have, if you're looking for it. >> There's one left. >> I'll take it. Do you mind if I take the last one? >> Take it.

>> Do you want to snack or anything? >> Sometimes I'm thinking finger-less. >> You should snack. >> This is good, I guess.

>> You get a little chocolate on your chocolate.

>> This has chocolate after. >> I don't think you like it. >> Sometimes it does. >> I don't like it. >> I don't like it.

>> You know, you should love freezing. >> I'm serious. >> I am, too. >> That's Jerry the giraffe. >> What do you think of that trap?

>> I think it's nice. >> It makes me feel like I can do anything. >> Yeah.

>> When we first started dating.

>> I'd like to just talk about the weekend, because you're leaving me out to drag. >> You're leaving me in limbo. >> Yeah. >> When we just take one of these mango white claws,

go somewhere private. Me, you, wives, crack 'em open. >> I'm gonna, I might just have to crack this open real quick. >> Just what we, I'd be just doing it. >> I just want to go, I want to go to Malibu.

Sit on a beach, and I want to watch our wives frolic around in the sand. They're running. >> They're, they're bikini? >> Are they?

>> Are they? >> They're probably bikini. >> As long as I have all of them and this peach. >> Yeah. >> Ooh.

>> Oh, my God, I almost feel a little on my hand. >> Your promise you'll go on to Jatsky with me. I know you don't like to because of the motion. >> No, I don't promise that. It's freezing in that water.

>> What do you think about it? >> Yeah, I've already thought about it. >> Maybe you'll do it. >> Do you have a dog? >> I do.

>> I do. >> Is it a cockapoo? >> No. He is a rumor that. >> No, no, it's not a cockapoo lab riddoodle.

>> We got a puppy named, not a puppy named Marigas. >> He's a baby though. >> Doctor. >> What's his name? Reggie.

>> My dog's name is George. >> George? >> George. >> No relation to George. >> No, after my father-in-law.

>> Okay.

>> My dog's name is pudding.

>> Oh, I love pudding. I know somebody else better pudding. >> Really? >> For real. >> That's good name.

>> Putting looks like she's melting at all times.

>> Oh. >> She's a big, oversized tongue. >> A big, chubby English Bulldog. >> Oh, wow. >> Yeah, I haven't--

>> I haven't even been fitting the mouth yet. >> Yeah, it doesn't. >> She was harassed you and she's got all sorts of issues. >> And then Larry, Larry, Larry. >> Larry named after Larry.

>> Larry is named after Larry David. >> Larry David? >> Larry David. >> He was, I forgot. >> Yeah.

>> That was the first dog you fell in love with. >> Yeah, he's a bodybuilder. >> Yeah. >> He didn't even like dogs before. >> He didn't like dogs before.

>> He was like, he was a French. >> He was so cute. >> But it is on the rapid descent rapid descent. >> Oh, yeah, that dog fell apart. >> Yeah, rapid descent.

>> I feel like a dog is a good set. >> Yeah, it is. >> He was so cute. >> Yeah, he was so cute. >> He was so cute.

>> He was so cute. >> But it is on the rapid descent rapid descent. >> Oh, yeah, that dog fell apart. >> Yeah, rapid. >> I feel like a dog is a good set.

>> Children? >> Well, for me, at least when we got a puppy, I was like he was working a lot and I said, "Don't worry, I will take care of it." >> No, a puppy's a lot of work.

I imagine it's how I feel with children. >> No one balloons in the air. You play the game where you try to keep it up in the air and you hit it. There's a balloon in the air for the rest of your life

that you always are kind of having.

>> Oh, I don't know. >> Can't just live in life. >> There's nothing on the other side. >> There's nothing on the other side. >> Check it.

>> Is that a good analogy? I feel like that's a good analogy. >> Yeah, it is. It's great. >> I'm so excited.

I'm just nervous. I think that's like approaching. >> So you wish you had three? >> Yeah, that's a debate we keep having. She says she wants three.

>> I love the number. But I've never had one, so. >> Start with one. >> See what happens. >> Whatever happens happens.

>> Yeah, exactly. >> We'll figure it out. >> You'll figure it out. >> Yeah, of course. >> Speaking of figure it out.

>> Yes. >> What do you think that special thing is about a show like sign for that we could perhaps steal. >> Steal. >> Give us the give us the thing.

>> Is there an enjoyable kind of thing like a North Star that. >> Well, this is not a scripted thing. >> No. >> We've been reading a script. >> We've been reading a script.

>> Oh, you've been on the script. >> We've been on the script. >> We've been on the script. >> We've been on the script. >> We've been on the script.

>> We've been on the script. >> But I think we'll be better. >> We've been talking about feelings. >> No, disregard that question. You got any more hobbies.

>> Do you still keep up with all those guys? >> I do. >> You do. >> I just saw Larry and Jerry recently. >> Larry and Jerry.

Larry and Jerry. You keep up with Jason? >> Not as much. But we emailed back and forth. >> Was there ever, you don't even have to answer this if you don't want to.

>> Was there ever any friction ever on sign for you?

>> Of course. >> Yes, tons. >> Really? >> Well, I mean, it's hard to do anything really well. And it takes a lot of work and you're going to butt heads.

>> Live audience was there, of course, when I say. >> Yeah. >> Oh, it's live. >> Yeah, live audience. >> It's about the live audience.

>> Yeah. >> It's awesome. >> Yeah. >> It's like a whole other level of audience. >> Every night was a live on.

>> Every episode was a live audience. >> Do you ever follow without a live audience? >> Yeah. >> It was like COVID or something. >> No, there was no COVID back there.

>> Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. >> But yeah, I did. I want to say we shot the Puerto Rican day parade. I think without a live audience. I think if I'm, oh, no, that was just real time with the Chinese restaurant.

It was different. >> You found it inspiring and additive as a performer. >> Totally. >> I mean, you know, you know what it's like to be in front of an audience. I mean, there's energy that you're living off of.

>> Yeah. >> It infuses performance and that's true. >> That might be you. >> No? >> Were you still able to do it?

>> Yeah, probably my father. >> I don't think I turned it off. >> Yeah.

>> But I think the audience got to kick out of it.

Because you got to see, you know, sort of how the sausage was made. And you also got to see, like, rewriting on the font. >> Yeah. >> Any hacklers? Like, would you ever get, like, some regular hacklers?

>> No, they don't let the person there. >> Christian, when I, when I went to Selena's reboot, when they were shooting, like, in between, when people are generally, they have, like, a commentary. >> Yeah.

>> Like, they've had the same one on Selena's thing for, like, 30, like, he was there from the beginning. >> Yeah. >> And he was really, it's so cool. >> Yeah.

>> And that, by the way, is a real skill set. >> Oh, my God. >> Yeah. >> Because the world guy ever make it in an episode, I feel like he's probably waiting to get, you know,

plocked and be, like, clear. >> He can't really remember. >> Yeah. >> Did you start to be, like, in your head, while that laugh wasn't loud enough or no?

Like, you kind of zoned. You weren't, like, focused on their feedback as much as, like, just, like, just making the show. >> Well, if you're focusing on the feedback, you've got to problem.

>> But, I mean, I think. But, I mean, of course, you plock it. >> Yeah. >> Were they, were they collaborative? Like, could you be, like, Larry?

Like, I would never say this.

Like, we have to change how this is being said. >> Yes, they were collaborative. I mean, sometimes there was an argument. >> Yeah.

>> Was there a lot of improv?

>> Yeah.

>> There were some improv that came out of rehearsal.

>> Yeah.

>> And then there were some stuff that happened.

And then, of course, mistakes would happen. It would get real old, isn't it? >> Yeah. >> Yes. >> There, you know, the parking garage episode?

>> Of course. >> Yeah.

>> Remember how the car doesn't start at the end?

>> It was supposed to start, but it just didn't.

>> Wow. >> That plenty, isn't it? >> That's funny. >> And he, and Michael was going, "Come on, come on. Trying to get it started."

>> Wow.

>> God, that made me laugh.

And you can see, if you watch,

carefully, you can see that I collapse in the back seat

because I'm laughing so hard. >> They're plucking that thing. You've got to go to the end. >> I've got to go to the end. >> There, we thankful that you came.

>> This is like being in the Truman Show. >> Wow. >> The light is kicking me out of here. >> Yes. >> It was such an honor.

>> I hope it cuts together. I feel like we didn't talk about anything. >> That's nice part. >> That's nice part. >> That's nice part.

>> That's nice part. >> That's nice part. >> That's nice part. >> That's nice part. >> That's nice part.

>> That's nice part. >> Thank you.
