It's gonna be the right club today. [MUSIC]
“>> I think that's better than most, how about it?”
And it's better than most, better than most. [MUSIC] >> I expect anything different. [MUSIC] >> Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the no-laying up live show presented
as always by our friends at Tidalis Solihir.
Here with the St. Luna Ticks to boys that spent the week in St. Louis, TC. You survived, you made it, how was the week? >> I thrived, Solih. It was a little humid, great people, we'll get into it. St. Louis, thank you.
Great experience. >> Neil Icaritos Schuster is here, how old Neil how are you? >> Greetings, Solih. Great week, first time in St. Louis, how to blast. And good finish today.
You know, went out and got it, baby. >> The golf was good, the action was good. >> Yeah, I mean, it was, when I'm, you know, let them back in, made it an interesting back, nine, it was great. We got to talk, BMW championship, dub, dub, a bit of a surprise if I may say
from Bellevue, it was not expecting a ton, and I was quite entertained. We're going to talk about that, got roaring the mix, as well. We're going to hear about your guys on site experience.
“We have a, I think we have a pro ham story, we got to get to at some point here.”
>> Yeah. >> Some live news, as well, perhaps the final live event in history is close to wrapping up right now, I can't keep track because it's shot guns start. But Scott Jamison wins the next championship on the DP world tour. We had Utah Seguro wins the Advent Health Championship.
Mia Yamashita is leading the Canadian open as we speak. Maria McBride, not to be confused with Martin McBride, wins the US senior women's open.
>> That was my first one.
>> Stop it, stop it, stop it, stop it. >> I mean, Monica, by two shots. The knowing of podcast brought to you by title is the number one ball on golf. Number one ball on the PGA tour trusted by 71% of players this season that includes Windham Clark taking home his sixth PGA tour title today at the DMW Championship.
Gaming is pro V1 X golf ball. Windham has been a pro V1 X player for as long as he can remember one of the biggest reasons why is he is the higher full swing spin. It's the higher full swing swing spin of the X. He's not a high spin player in the long games of the added spin from the pro V1 X gets
his numbers. Into an optimal window provides that perfect amount of stopping power into the greens. For his game, we hear toward players say it all the time. It's the only piece of equipment we use on every shot. If you're not playing the right golf ball for your game, it's costing you strokes.
Go to title is dot com to learn more, find out what golf ball best fits your game. >> A little play by play here from Sunday, Windham took a five shot lead in the final round of a roaring Patrick Can'tlay. Windham boog at the opening, whole-royed birdie did immediately made the day. Yesterday in Clark went out in a plus two thirty seven, Gary Woodland got with then one, then
absolutely cold top to one off the ninety, made a double boogie. It was sick. I thought the tracer malfunctioned and then Can'tlay was kind of all over the place.
He made five birdies in his first ten holes, but also made three boogies.
Got within one with a birdie on the 10th hole. Windham boogied the 10th to drop him into a tie with Can'tlay but Can'tlay have been dumped at the water on 11th at the same time. Roy birdies 11 to tie wind them, they both had a bunch of powers until Windham birdie 16 to go up by one.
Roy made a bad boogie on 17, Windham birdie did that was night night, Windham tax on another birdie on 18 to win it by three. Windham Clark, player the year, are we doing this? >> Rewins and a major. >> That was such a good shot on 18, now that rough they're like, yeah, this is a good shot
if you can advance this 40 50 yards and gets it to up there to 20 feet and drains the pot. It was, you know, props. >> He played some excellent excellent golf.
“>> Well, 20 said he didn't though, he just, but he hung around like any, I think they”
had to kind of hit the cough button a couple times. I think I'm like the T shot on 12, 13 he missed, you know, that's just all of a sudden you hear like the airplanes because I think he's busted at himself, but he hung around and he birdies the last three and that this pump he put out on 16, it was kind of like a jam man.
>> Good moment. >> Good moment and Roy missing that, that put on 16 and then making a mess on 17, it was a, yeah, I was kind of hoping for a show down all the way down the stretch and then, yeah, Windham Megan that put on 17 was cold blooded. So I would say, and test this out on you, saw a different type of wind for dub here, feels
He steered it into the house with both US open winds with like, oh man, you k...
like kind of, you know, big right miss at LACC and then, you know, at Shini, it wasn't, you know, it wasn't decisive, but he bought himself enough, enough rope. Today, it's like to go make three birdies to finish on three, like big boy golf holes. I thought that was a statement from, from Windham. I was very impressed by that.
>> It, I mean, Bell Reed, we're going to talk about it, it hit some golf shots man and he was a little off in the early part, he paid the prices, you know, hit the ball's, balls and
“some awkward spots and what's that, that's how he paid the price, he paid some consequences.”
>> Yeah, and, you know, it, it, I, I, we, I don't know if we need to go to this right now, but I did find it interesting that he hits in the right rough one, 14 and takes
a long time to play the shot, Trevor Oman jumps in and says, this is the third club he's
pulled, you know, and placing it behind the, I, I checked the wording on this because I checked the wording of the USJ rule on this as well, you know, putting the club behind third time, he's done it and, and Frank Noble of in says, well, the line might be better, which was a pretty darn direct comment as that was happening and honest, honest, I thought, like, I honestly thought that was going to get a review or a follow up or a comment because
the announcers had said it or brought in, bring some announcers from Pont of Egypt to address it because if it got the attention, the announcers to mention it, it was, I was like, oh gosh, if we head towards like a rules, a Windham rules controversy at the end and they try to crown Rory, this might get really, really, really ugly here, but I, I don't know, he wanted by three and he's not the only, a fender of that and there's a ton of gray area
on that rule anyways, but that was one of the more significant moments of the afternoon. Not all of the shows.
“He's something that those guys are pointing it out though, right?”
God, it would have been sick if they tagged him for that and then can't lay, wind is not Rory, you know, he jumps everybody and ends up, can't lay and, and dubbed, tied for the lead, you know, early, I guess early back nine until, can't lay vaporized himself on 11, T.C. that was some of all fears for you, man. Yeah, truly, I think, I mean, it's, to be in W championship week, like we could have seen
a three time champion in Patrick Cantley, there's money on the line, there's, there's FedEx cup bonus money, there's, we're going into the Torch Championship next week, it's the playoffs, nobody gets up for the playoffs, like Patrick Cantley, I would have won these days too. Did he make it by, like, on the number, can't lay, he was, he was up to 19th.
Yeah, okay. Yeah, he was 41st, I believe, coming into 43rd, coming into the week is one of, I think, three guys that bumped up, Woodland was 31st, got up to 18th, that's right, that's right. So, what, if I asked you guys this, I said, Windham Clark is the blank best American golfer right now, as in, like, for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, what's, without putting as much, you know,
“I'm not asking for a ton of thought into it, I'm honestly looking for kind of a gut”
reaction to this one of who is, who is, Windham Clark is the blank best American golfer right now. I got to say three, I think it's Scotty, Cam Young, and then Windham, and I, I will say this to, I think Windham is, he's a microwave man, when he gets hot, he gets going, so it's, it's feaster famine, it seems like with him, but I am very impressed by how he can keep
a hot streak rolling, like a hot week, he just kind of goes, he just gets in it, and today was an example of like, yeah, he went backwards a little bit, but he, when that, I'm
no, sometimes when he starts putting, well, those punches look, like they never look
like they're going to miss, and it's really, but it, some weeks, it's like he's just, you know, not just not in the mix, whereas I think there's a higher floor for those first two guys, and maybe even a higher floor, like, got her up would be, got her up, and more cow would be probably, uh, four and five for me right now, I don't know if you guys have an argument with that, but, um, they feel like they, maybe have a higher floor than
he does, but I'd be open to debating that. It's, it's interesting, because like if you're, it's, it's a hard one to answer on a night that he just won, because like, I would say, I, I, Xander's a better golfer than Windham. Wow.
I was going to be very, even have one on the, on the presence cup team, yeah, I talk about it a couple weeks ago.
Yeah, it's very, very easy to overreact same burns had an incredible year this year,
and like, man, a culpa there, you know, on a Sunday night is super easy to do it exactly what you just did, um, and there is something to be said for shutting the door and doing it three times in one year, and you know, on shit a cock, and a pretty darn solid test in Belery, if I would say, and a birdie fast, like at, uh, uh, you know, not quite real, but Craig James.
Yeah. So, I mean, burnt, yeah, burns and, and, um, Xander belong in the conversation, but I,
Rewinds is, I mean, that's, that's the name of the game, man.
Like, that's hard to, he's got to be at least in the top four then.
“I think it's like, who's had a better season, it's, you know, he's might be player of”
the year, like, it's him or Scottie, like, this best, you know, probably player of the year. But as best American as a different way of asking it, and I think he's probably around six for me, which is a, that's a, that's a high, that's high, that's a high compliment, not what I would have had, uh, you know, four months ago, uh, if we were to add one, run through your six for me.
Just so I thought my head, it's like, I'd take Scottie, I'd take Xander, I'd take more Kaua, uh, I'd take Burns, and I'd take Cam, like, comfortably, um, over him with, the way he's got, I think that with Sam Burns, I would probably put Windham ahead of Sam Burns, uh, super high floor
for Sam Burns, but we're not getting it done.
Oh, I'm going Burns, I, it's very coarse dependent for me. I wasn't going to give you a number.
“I was going to say, like, he's the least, like, a blue best American golfer, right?”
Oh, Sam, I should have, I, I, I, no, I phrase that pretty specifically, I didn't leave you that wiggle room to do that, but I, I think it's very coarse specific of, you know, where you, where you would take him, um, but that, but again, like, you know, high rough at Bell Reeves this week, it was pretty penal off the fairway. I don't know what data golf say in Salais, far as what it rewarded, but could blend.
Um, you know, greens were super, super soft, uh, Zoya kind of, you know, gave you a little bit of cushion there in the fairways, but, um, like you said, you had to go hit golf shots. Like it wasn't like, I don't know, it was, it was better than I expected to be in, from a design perspective, the greens were very, like, so vanilla and, and boring, like, the greens are definitely what holds that golf course back, um, just from, they're really, really
painfully dull, and, but the, um, like, they, they, they, they shaved the, the fairways into, the bunkers, they shaved the fairway into the, uh, the, uh, lake on 11, all sorts of just pretty, like, the bunkers were actually penal, they were very penal, really, really heavy, like it was, it was a weird combo because there wasn't too much sand, it was just very heavy sand. Um, and there were some really deep bunkers as well, like the bunkers short of 10 was like,
I mean, you're 20 feet down there, it's crazy. So, uh, it was, but it was just so soft as well, like there's just not a whole lot of fire in the golf course, which, you know, that's going to happen in August. So, um, yeah, I don't know where I was leading with that other than to say, like, you're right, it was a different type of, of wind from wind them. What's it, I mean, on the belly of like, it is similar to quail, you said this, it's like quail
hollow and Olympia fields had a baby, and I was like, I didn't say how to baby, because everybody's been on me for saying to use that phrase a lot. No, I, I said, it's like Olympia fields meets quail hollow.
“Okay. Um, and I think, like the land feels very similar to Olympia fields, um, it's good land,”
it's, it's a big, big ballpark, and it can be a little bit, it can feel a little bit, um, you know, there's like a little bit of a lack of intimacy at times. Um, I thought 7, 11 and 17 were probably my three favorite holes. Um, you know, part three is the greens are definitely a little bit turned up, and then it's a good host venue for PGA tour, like for a big time PGA tour event. I think is kind of the take, and I don't, like, I think it's a better golf course than Valhalla, say, even.
I, I just, I don't think it's deserving of a major championship venue, but, um, but hey, like if we want to have massive PGA tour events, this, this should be a stop every five years, every four or five years. Fans were great, logistics were good, um, you know, not not that easiest sight to get in and out of, but like when they have the president's cup there and was at 20, 30, um, that'll be a great, a great sight for it. In the fall, too, a little bit out of the, you know, a august heat.
I think that's it. Like we, the criticism of one, this version of Valhalla is way better than the 2018 version. It's been totally redone. It was better with Zoysia and more runoffs around around the greens. It felt like there was a variety of different consequences. When you missed around the green, it wasn't just settling in deep rough. They had some deep rough around the green, but it was not that on repeat one. I thought, you know, a couple like weird bay hillish holes
out there with, you know, big ponds to the left that you got to work your way around, but I kind of liked how those holes play. Like they made you, you know, that I paid a ton of attention on those
T shots. I'm like, oh, when I'm second iron with this, a brewery's hitting, I'm good with the second
old brewery's hitting fairway wood today. He had driver yesterday, a good good variety in that. And there's a massive difference in hosting PGA tour event in hosting major championship. And I still think it's like not a major championship quality golf course. It would, it would, we would sound a lot like we do talking about quail hollow about it. And that it's big, brownie, aesthetically beautiful, but just doesn't have like the most sole ever and doesn't, you know, isn't architecturally
Significant golf course and is not a major championship venue.
Among recent BMW championship venue, I hear what people are probably saying. You had a response
by BMW. Of course you're going to say great things about. We did not say good things about K's Valley. You guys love Castle Pines, but the greatest viewing, like as far as viewing at home, I'm not going to tell you. It's just such a change up, such a curveball versus what these guys see week to week. Normally, but this was, this wasn't all that different from Olympia fields for me. I know they're going to, you know, they're, they're learning to redo Olympia fields.
“But yeah, like I don't know Neil, like how would you put this versus liberty national next year?”
No, that's your home course. So you got it. That's enough, DC. I think liberty is good. That's a golfer for pros. It's going to be a little bit more like water left and OB right.
You know, a little, I think this presented a, I found this golf course interesting.
More thoughtful off the tee than I thought it would be. So I'll you mention number two. I thought the tee shot on 11, you know, that short part four. I thought that was an interesting whole, the, the approach in the number 10 was really difficult. Like there were some spots out there to use the analogy like a Alex Honel free soul. There were some bolder problems of like, man, you got it, like, you know, you got to hit this shot right here. And then you see what happened
to Rory on 17. I think 17's a great hole. He misses the fairway left. Everyone's worried about the creek down the right. That's not a brain dead lay up. It's good. And he just, you know, kind of thoughtlessly tries to keep up the left side and it rolls out a little bit longer than everybody thinks it's going to even on TV. And it rolls into that bunker. Those bunkers are well placed to leave awkward angles. I hit one into a bunker on seven, like 90 are bunkers shot. And it's just like just awkward.
“So even, you know, I picked the wrong club off the tee. You have to be, that's a short part four”
on the front nine. So that stretch from seven through, I'd say 11 was was really good. I thought. And then he used to be had out there, man. Like six was so hard. Like nobody could, I don't think it was a good hole. But it was like, I mean, that's an absolute heat check. And the greens, but they're really big. And these guys are such good putters that that, you know, you compared to last week, it's southwind where the greens are smaller. And I think that presents a, maybe a challenge that
but more of a challenge to these guys that I want to watch them around the greens. But I will take the fans this week over what you saw last week. I think I left even on Wednesday feeling like this is a great sporting arena. Good viewing spots. Good finish. Like there's, like you said, there's bogies, there's volatility down the stretch. And the people showed out, I'm thrilled for the
PGA tour that they finally got the, we're letting the ropes down at the end. And you know, they've
done that all season and like it's been either a, you know, a blowout or like, yeah, there's just not that many people. And then today I was like, oh, there it is. There's the shot down the fairway on 18. And there's, you know, it's, it's 45 50 people deep, uh, fallen the final group of the fairway. Well, these people have been starved for like decent sports since they abandoned the Cardinals, like three years ago. Like they haven't had any decent decent sport to watch. They can
possibly, and totally abandon their, their team the first time they had a losing record in 18 years. And you know, they, they, they harness that energy into the golf course today. We appreciate that we've heard so many great things about how great those fans are. And we saw it today. You know, it was awesome. Best fans and golf. I do think in all seriousness, the BMW is very reliant. Like the, the Western golf Association, Evan Scholar's Foundation, very reliant upon
the membership at these clubs and the local business community to buy hospitality sweets, buy tickets, all that. They've been sold out, like, since before the ashes, they've ever sold out.
“So in, it's support locally. Yeah, like the look, like, and I think the club as well, like the club”
understood the mission. It wasn't an ego thing. It wasn't a dick measuring contest. It was it was very much a, you know, hey, this, like the mission is to support the Evan Scholar ship. Like, leave it to us. We will, we will do that. And it was great hospitality all week, everywhere, you know, both on site and off site. They're in St. Louis. So good people. Like, very interesting, very interesting place, complicated place in certain ways, too. It's just,
it's a, it's a very fascinating city. I do want to give a shout out, because I do want to hear about your guys a little bit more about your guys week. But in honor, I, Neil, I couldn't quite tell if you're doing the same thing here. But for tonight, in honor of Lynn of Dub, for his win, we open up a little bit of great, open up some great, I got a high noon transfusion here, high noon vodka, selts are vodka, iced tea, tequila, selts are no matter the occasion,

you at high noon spirits dot com, high noon suns up. I've been, I've got three of these left
“from the summer, and I was saving, I'm just in case we had a dub, dub victory to celebrate tonight,”
so open up some great enough. So just to circle back, because, you know, I feel like I got out of my skis on the best American golfer. I wanted to check the data golf, the close thing that we've got to like benchmark here. Top Americans in the data golf rankings, you got Scotty Schefler,
first Sam Burns is third to the second of amongst Americans. I'm, uh, second amongst Americans.
I'm just going to, I'm just going to call it like what they're ranking is though. Bam Burns is third overall, Sandra Schoffley's seventh, Russ Henley is ninth, Patrick Cantley is tenth, Pam Young is 11th, and then it's Colin and Windom at 13 and 14, and then Chris Scott is going to lie. So, and I know, I don't, I don't feel, I don't really agree that if you're asking my opinion, of who I, you know, who do I feel personally like, I'm, I'm, I'm somehow to data can lie. That's
their golf scores. That's like the little golf scores. Well, how long have, how, yeah, I was going to ask you that, Paul, like, how, what's the, what data are we looking at? It's an aging, it's an aging system. Recent results are way more heavily than than older results. So, do you see it says the trend line shows the 25 round moving average in true strokes gained total, uh, over the player, each player's last 100 rounds. So, that's, I guess that's your timeline.
But I, I just want, you know, so I left out Henley, I, I bring it up more to say like, oh, we didn't say Henley, we didn't say Patrick can't lay, um, as, like, who is, you know, I guess objectively, your data wise, the best. But I just think, I mean, when I'm going to get it done, man, three wins is a big ask deal. Like, I can't argue with that. I agree that San Burns is a higher floor, but I still feel like it's, it's hard, the people that win, but then
also go away and you don't think about them when they go away is where it gets hard to classify, you know, like, because, yeah, and I look at his, his 100 round, like, moving average at that scatter plots like at the beginning of the year, it just starts to go way up. He was, he was, you know, and last year was no good for, for dumb. If we had done this question after he missed
“the cut in Detroit, like, I don't know what, you know, we'd look a lot different. That's why I said”
it's always hard to, you know, easy to get caught up on my like tonight. What, all right, Solif,
if, let's say, when the wins, the tour chain of being ship next week, he's the, is he the player the year? I think he's probably going to be it either way, right? Unless Scotty would have to win to take it back, maybe, and then you're like, all right, he won a tour chain ship versus US open. I mean, it's hard because Scotty's got so many top five, he's got like 12 top five, I think Winnam's got six total top five all year, and but he's got the major win. It's like, well,
what are we doing here, right? I mean, the best golfer this year has obviously been Scotty, but the best results is a different, you know, a different question here. I mean, Winnam didn't even have a top 10 until he won the CJ Cup, and that's weird. Craig James, so, I don't know, but you kind of answer my question, like, what if he does win next week, he gets player the year, and then you guys like, now he's the fifth best golfer, and you're going to fall from like that's crazy.
I mean, I don't, it part of me doesn't disagree with you, but I'm like that, it's such a oxymoron. We should use this to highlight how stupid this is to have this conversation right before the tour of championship, in terms of how stupid the tour of championship is. The week should be like, who's going to win it all next week? Like who's, and nobody talks like that, it's like who's going to win player of the year? Like the whole thing should be about this week being the player of the year.
“And I think at least though, it's at least it's close right now for player of the year as a conversation,”
right? I mean, you know, if Rory wins today, it's like, oh, man, you know, he's got wins the masters, he, and then, you know, to fight for, sorry, to show up from Abiza just completely male it in last week. And then if he came out in one this week, I'm like, damn, that is such impressive. I think he purposely male it's been like, I mean, it's just, it's something. I don't know. It's making me think about a lot of stuff though. I'm like, that's, that's really something. I would normally laugh at you to see,
but again, the driver he pulled on 18 on Thursday and like basically almost tried to drive the
Korean, it looked like he's in a row, right? I watched everything. I was there on 18 Thursday and saw him make that birdie. I'm talking to him. No, it's like, yeah, it's like 380 off the T took it over the trees on 18. I thought, yeah, after his, I think 65 on Thursday. I thought he was going to win this week. So, yeah, the the the the whispers on side all week were that he was going to like he was going to skip again. Like he came over the deal with the tour. He was going to skip again. And they're like,
no, I'm like, you can't take this deal for you to miss your minimum starts. And then skip fat acts like you're you're you're showing up there. We're going to find you a lot and then he ends up, you know, basically, you've shown up out of spite. So, I think that's, you know, and then he
Turns this game on all of a sudden this week.
to see the Scotty Rory showdown. I know. It's some point. You know, I thought we were going to get
it this week at first, but then I guess Scotty's dealing with hand footing. I need to see the post round
interview with Scotty. Yeah, I got a hand foot mouth. I mean, who among us, brother? I feel that.
“I think it's also just Rory. I'm sure he saw this golf course and was like, oh, this is”
what I'm about. And I think he knows Memphis is not decidedly not what he's about. You guys tell me, too. And it seemed like the heat and humidity of St. Louis did not seem to be nearly, I know you just weren't in Memphis, but like it didn't seem to be significantly better weather this year than it was in Baltimore last year. Baltimore was, that's that would be the comparison. Like you know, they got lucky. They did. It was, it was crazy, crazy hot and humid. I guess the, like,
the week before the week and before. And then big massive thunderstorms came like rolled through over night, a couple nights in a row and kind of cool it down. But yeah, it just like the, I don't know, everybody looks miserable in Memphis. And I think it carries through to the broadcast and nobody wants to be there. And it didn't seem that way this week from from watching on TV. We started a couple of caddies on like Tuesday night. And they were, they put down stories about Memphis. Memphis is like,
it's like, no, you understand man, like we're seeing stars in shit, like one guy doing an IV. Yeah,
“like I think heres thing was caddy had to get an IV. This is like a year or two ago. You know,”
it's like, they're just like, man, we just are all prepared now. Memphis is, is a, you know, it's like nobody talks. We just, we did one foot in front of the other out there. It's like, Everest. Yeah. It got oxygen that's. You guys played the pro. I'm any, anything, anything significant happened, anything. You know, it's great. No, we're, you hit a good. I did on the front. Not a hit. Great. Yeah. And so TC, we start. We play with Foxy, which was, I mean, what a thrill to
see. PC and Ryan Fox just talked golf courses in, you know, in the Southern Hemisphere for nine straight holes. I mean, they were just two, two peas in a pod. Foxy's playing, he's not, you know, everybody else is, they drop their, you know, putting discs. And they kind of like, you guys go ahead and hit, we're going to work the greens. They got their teams out there. Foxy was just playing one ball, like, not just kind of just hanging with us, man. And locked in on the
best ball, ProM format. Like, it was, it was a deal. You're popping here. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, you guys, yeah, he's like checking the scorecard. You know, like, oh, yeah, we, we got a pop here. You know, he's, he's a good, good team player. And then we played so fast, like with a second group off the front. And the group of houses playing really fast, too. But we were, we made the turn 30 minutes ahead of time. So Jake Nap was our back nine guy. And he was nowhere to be found. So you can
see in this picture, we took this picture on 17 because he showed up on the 12 T. He's like, oh, my bad, guys. Like, not in history. Yeah, not as fall to those. Like, the first time in history that like any ProM groups made the turn ahead of time. And like, well ahead of time. So we played the back with Jake Nap. And I, it was a delight watching both of their golf swings. Two unique golf
swings. I mean, naps is like built in a lab, man. So powerful. And the way Foxy, the lag he has on his
swing up close and the way he like uses the ground, it's almost, the way he plays this cut really consistent. He can almost ramp up. It's like a pitcher throwing a slider. And it's like how much cut does he want on that slider? Like some holes, he would really cut it. And his coach was walking with us and I was talking to him about that. And he's like, yeah, man, he just really understands like how to get the club face right where he wants it. And it's, it's just a super consistent,
you know, ball flight that left side of the course doesn't exist. It's really, really, really impressive. So I was almost a little bit worried I'm like, man, like, I hope this guy's as cool as I've kind of been told and made him out to be 10 times cool than even my wildest expectations. Like, I knew I was just counting on some hyperbole from you to talk. He's also talking about SuperBoard. And he's just the, he's the ultimate bloke, man. He's, he was showing me all sorts
of pictures and videos from him and his buddies party with the clear jug. And he's, he's just, yeah,
“it was, it was truly, truly a delight. And I think we birded the first four holes right now.”
Yeah, we did. I made like a 50 footer on the first hole. And we were often running.
So it was a ton of fun. And then listen, I, we had to wait on the 10th T. Go ahead, T.C. Hold on, all right, real. So we're playing with Mike Bruney. I don't know if you've met him. Salty Bruney's great. He's, he's, he's, one of WGA guys. Let me feel it's guy. And he's just a shot of life. And then we're making the tour where a pretty good place, but Neil and I are playing a match as well. That's true. And this is separate from our year-long match, which Neil's already forfeited.
Oh, yeah, I just think I ran out of holes, I think.
I think we kind of forgot to keep track. Yeah, it just can't win good conscience. I must
“concede because I don't know the actual score anymore. Yeah. So Neil, Neil pushed it to five”
up on me at one point. But before we got there, so Neil, Neil's playing pretty well. And then we get to, he drives the grain on 11. They had the T's up. He hit one, like a he had a C into 11. And then, uh, reput par. Yeah, reput par. And then after that, I burried the next hole and we kind of start, you know, I start clawing my way back into it. So I'm one down going into 16. Yes. All right. And 16's this par, par 3. There's grandstand all like wrapping around this entire back
of this hole all the way over to the left. Well, Neil hits like this toe shank. Oh, that's not true. I hit, I hit a really flush eight iron that turned left. I mean, about 40 yards left. Yeah. Yeah. Like it was chloro for me. But it was high. It was like, it was, I mean, it was compressed, you know what I mean? And I was, I don't know. I was not a good shot, but I, but it was well struck. So it was not a toe shank. That's not what it was. Well, Neil and I, and so it's, it's
sailing, like not only into the grandstands, like high into the grandstands. All right. I'm screaming
“for too. We are second deck. Yeah. So he ends up, you know, I'm like, holy shit. I think that”
hit somebody. And now I think that definitely hit somebody. And so when over, everyone's like, I think that, it was over. And so, so Neil walks up, Neil, you, you, you take it from here. There's, well, I thought I, I did not see the ball land. And I didn't see a huge reaction in the grandstand. So I thought it was over the back. I saw some people like, I thought I saw like a martial look behind the grandstands. We're walking off the tee. I walk up there and I'm like, Hey,
I'm like, you guys see one fly over over the grandstand. And, and it's hushed tones over there.
And it's like, oh, it landed in, it actually hit that, that girl and hit it hit a second grader.
I'll start second grade and in, and on Monday tomorrow. So next Katherine, she was, you know, little leg. Yeah, right in the thigh. She had a nice fly. Yeah, on the fly. And I, I was like,
“immediately like the blood drain out of my head. I was like, oh my god, this is awful. She's like,”
you know, hyper ventilating. The mom was so cool. She's like, she's okay. I'm like, is everything all right? And you know, kind of an overbearing martial. He's, he's making a loud radio call from medical attention. Mom's like, we're, we're good. He's fine. I'm like, I'm so sorry. It was epic. You know, people started to crowd around and I'm like, listen, you know, let's, you know, I, so I didn't have a Sharpie and I, uh, glove. I didn't want to give her a sweaty glove. I only had
one. So I said, would you like a golf ball? She said, yeah, you know, she got immediately. She got super happy. So I gave her a game worn Pro V2. She was thrilled about it. And, you know, mom was like, everything's good. Like, just hit her in the leg. We're going to be totally fine. She's like,
now I have, you know, she has a story for the first day of class. Second girl has like bring the ball
to school, show and tell great. So what did I do? I have no idea where this golf ball is. It's been, at this point, five minutes over there, uh, I took TIO relief. And I took line of sight relief. And you know what I did? Did you take virtual assurance that it was in the TIO, is that where you get into the ball? No, the ball was still up there. I feel like it was a second grader, like the hitting the second grader. I mean, virtually certain with the, with the well on her leg. I thought you said you
didn't find the ball. No, I didn't go, I didn't go up and get the ball. So I, uh, so I dropped one. She got two probes. Yeah. Good. I don't know if she picked the other one up. But she was thrilled
to have the second one. And I, uh, I got that shit up and down. And I, and I, and I've vanquished T.C.
And then it was folded like a lawn chair the next hole. It was in nasty, nasty, up and down. So he, he gets it up and down. He makes like a ten footer, which I knew was going in. I knew this was going to happen. And, and I'm watching it all kind of front, like he's probably 15, 20 feet below. There was, there was kind of a dip over there. And I'm on the green and I'm like, man, like, he, you know, I just hit a mediocre chip didn't get up and down. And then we get to the next T.
Oh, and there's like 25 T boxes on 17. There's like a, there's, there's like island T boxes in the middle. I mean, that's crazy how many T boxes are. So we're way up, we're way up to the right. And there's this big, uh, jumbo tron screen that like the back side of it is all meshed off for whatever. It seriously looks like the green monster. Like it's that it's, you know, 25, 30 feet tall and probably, you know, 30 feet wide. It's just like this big cube that's sitting up on the left side
and I play from the, from the, from the proteins. Yeah. The record. And then they've, they've got the big
Sky cam thing that's, you know, on the, on the, on the, uh, the lines on the ...
like CBS had some awesome camera angles and all that. They had a great build out on 18. And so Neil, I mean, he hit like a foot from the top of this thing. It was like a, it was like a double off the top of the green monster. And it bounces back to the right into play and all that. I'm like, all right, this is, this is what I'm dealing with here today. Well, he's, he had already, you know, you had already nailed one into the creek up the right. So I was like, I just, anything but right.
So there was the anti right ball. And yeah, I did. I painted off the green monster, the blue monster
“and, uh, you know, made par on 17 and that was it. So, uh, yeah, I, do I feel great about the TIO stuff?”
No, I don't, you know, but I, after hitting a little girl, I, I could, I had to get out of there, man. I had to hit it. I, I dropped that ball quick. Took like one practice swing and just chipped it on out there and it worked out. I cannot believe I had to hear from other people that you hit a, hit a second great girl. I would have, I would have hoped that you would have reported that the rising segment. Roger Steele heard about it. He was, he was a guest. I mean, everybody was,
it was the talk of, it was the talk of the whole. And I, what, I, what people, I cast upon as I did hit over a grandstand and I did play that as it lied. So, what if you hit it in the grandstand,
I mean, I don't know what, what else am I supposed to do there? Um, it's amazing. So anyway, Neil,
Neil, how was the gotter, and then Neil on Monday night did a gotter of Q&A? Yeah, it was great. Um, talked a little Jersey Shore. He, he caddy for four or five years, told some great caddy stories like really locked in as a caddy, down's like growing up. Uh, guys, gotter up just doesn't seem to over complicate things. Got maybe has a little dust and Johnson and I'm just like, yeah, man, when he, he, he's a quote from from that Q&A was like, I was like, you seem to be able
to close 62s on Sunday, 64s like he's like, yeah, when I'm in content, and I just get really focused.
“And when I'm not in content, I just like, I get unfocused. And I'm like, what's that like?”
Because that would be nice to just like, oh, yeah, I just locked in when all the money's on the line. I just just, I just play good. I was like, that's the money. That must, that must be fun, man. But just seems like he's gotten a little bit better. He, he talked about, uh, you know, went to Rutgers not far from home. Wasn't super locked in. And then the year at Oklahoma,
it's like, first that he'd been far away. He's like, I kind of jared me into like, man, I got to,
I got to lock in if I want to make this a career. And, and I might be pretty good. And that was kind of like the year. He just, he balled out. Uh, when the haskins and the equal swords saying here, and just gotten a little bit better every year. Can I get back on the BMW championship trip next year? I've spent the week in the big city. I've been coming on. I'm up to the best weeks of the year. I'm, I really just, they treat us so well. They're a first class event. This episode is brought
“to you by BMW proud title sponsor of the BMW championship. We celebrate the term in 20th anniversary”
or reminded of what makes this event so special. Every year, thousands of people come together to build an entire city around championship golf tournament, creating unforgettable experiences for players and fans alike. Since BMW became the title sponsor of the BMW championship has been named PJ
to return into the year six times reflection of the incredible work that goes into every detail for
BMW. It's an opportunity to connect with passionate golf fans, share the latest vehicles and innovations and help support something that's even bigger. Every BMW championship is played for the Evan Scholars Foundation, helping provide life-changing college scholarships to deserving cags across the country, BMW, the ultimate driving machine. So, a couple of things, you know, we did a build-out pod that went out last week, so check that out. And I was able to catch up with
Patrick Timbson, the conductor. Classic, he's handling a typo issue, you know, a couple bridges washed out in the rainstorms. You guys just handle it. And then TC and I, I finally met Clemens, they're guy from BMW that sights the cars, you know, and we talked to him for, well, 45 minutes, just about the strategy and all the work that goes into, like how they think about the signage and stuff, which I, I mean, I know that might not be interesting to a lot of people,
but I just think it's fascinating how you can throw up like a little literal mini city and it got to be on time and how much thought goes into that stuff. So, check that pod out if you haven't. And Neil, I want to give a shout out to Vince and cows as well, because you didn't, and Patrick didn't. Well, Patrick did, I just, and I don't think we put that in the pod yet. So, it's shout out to Vince for sure. Yeah. The whole WGA squad is such a, it's just like,
it would become friends and, and, yeah, WGA octagon, even the, like, the setup people from the tour that do it coxie, you know, and all those guys. It's like, it's, it's one of the highlights of the year. So, uh, we had a finalization of the U.S. writer cup, excuse me, president's code, uh, automatic qualifiers. It's going to be Scotty Sheffler, Cameron Young, Windam Clark, Sam Burns, Russell Hemley, and Colin Morakawa, are your top six just missing out. Chris got her up
Is 70.
into eighth. Uh, this past week, Xander's ninth spawn on the outside looking in 10th, JT 11th,
Bridgman, 12, Can't lay 13, Okshay, 14, Mad McNeely, 15. Um, so decent size, you know, you know, event there have been Griffin falling out of the top six. He would be one that, um,
“I would think is potentially, you know, it's not an automatic happens pick, and I think it would have”
been a big deal for him to qualify automatically to make the team. I'm not saying he will not be a captain's pick, uh, because the bottom of the team is shaking out to be a little bit different. But I'll say, like, he is going to be a test case for kind of, whether there is going to be any change on the U.S. side. I'd laugh before I say that because I think he's probably they're probably going to look and be like, oh, 7th on the savings got to make it. I mean, age should make it anyway.
He's nice, Xander. I know probably just kind of go down the list anyways, but I think he's a pretty solid case of like, uh, some of its earned points way early in the process and has not played their best golf up close to it and kind of the case for the, the point system needed to be redone anyways. And, um, what's the point of giving yourself six captains picks if you're just going to go down the point list. So I, I don't know what's going to happen there, but that was one, one
shake out from this week. But I got to push back a little bit on you, Sally, as, as the, the data guru, wouldn't you want them to use the list? So you're just saying the points list is not, I guess, but it's probably constructed. It's a bad system to start with. No, I would not, I would not want
“them to use the list. That's, but that's what, what's interesting is like, and this is different,”
but if you're saying they're getting ready to redo the system on the writer cup side, we're going to learn a lot about what they think of process, uh, you know, in putting that together on the writer cup side here. But so it's a new task force or I don't think technically it's a new task force. Um, I think they've, you know, I don't think they're going to go back to that nomenclature. I'd be, I'd be surprised if they did. I don't think Ben Griffin should make it.
I'm just going to say no. I don't either. I'm, I, but I, I would be so much like young guns, coven, Thor Bjornsson, on the points list, weighed. I mean, coven's like 48th coming into the week, because I mean, he was turned pro just a few months ago. So, but, you know, it's interesting, coven didn't make the BMW championship. Thor Bjornsson will not make the Tor championship, and those were kind of some of the two hotter names just a couple weeks ago that people were
ready to give spots to didn't really slam the door. Didn't really make it easy on the captains.
It would take kind of going past a few, basically like what what fans would want them to do
is his, his go past some names that were a little bit bored with and go for something that's different. Hell yeah. Yeah. And again, as I've said earlier, I just would be very surprised if they, you know, reach past some of those names to take just a different name. That's not even necessarily better, just as a rookie and could be, you know, exciting, you know, exciting potential. And what's interesting, too, like, when you think about, you know, USA basketball, like, there's
different positions. But almost makes the lose, we need a 3D guy, you know, we need a specific type of player. Whereas in golf, it's just like, no, man, like, there's not, you don't have, uh, there's no narrative around that, which is kind of, there could be and should be as in, like, hey, you would pair really well in forces with this guy, and you would pair really well in four ball with this guy, like, you are a specific captain's pick for a reason here, or I need you
for two set, two team sessions, and it's only for somes. And then I need you to go in your single match. Like that, that's a way of thinking about it. But then, then, you know what I would love is for someone to come on this year pod and tell me what, you know, maybe, maybe someone else in the class says this question, but what pair's well in four sums? Like, why, because I remember last of the Ryder Cup, it's like, it was at Colin and Harris English were like, the, you know,
statistically the worst combo you could make. And I still is like, you know, in my head, I'm like, why is that? Because they hit it similar, because they, I get that in the macro sense, they don't balance out each other's weaknesses or, or what, but I'm, I guess if someone could give me a cheat sheet on, like, what, what you would be looking for to match up in four sums,
“I would, I would be open to that. I think some of it would depend on the course. Yeah, a lot of it.”
A lot of it would. Yeah. But it's just, you know, are you using, you know, skills to, to complement each other and encounter each other? Also, it depends on them teating off in the proper order, which they managed to screw up with Scotty and Russell Henley. So, you know, I don't think that's silly that the US was looking at that way. But I mean, yeah, you would, you would, you know, we talked about this on the, on the aftermath part that we did with Duncan Carey. I'm just like,
or I think we talked about with Dota two several years ago, just like, yeah, you run a simulation
of like, here's Rory's Drive. And if you pay his plays with Tommy, here's what Tommy's Drive
would look like on the odd holes. And all right, well, the bunkers are a big problem. If Tommy tees off the odd holes, why don't we use Rory to get over all these bunkers? And from there,
It's going to leave eight shots within this range of, of iron or wedge for wh...
Rory with, all Tommy's great at those. Let's pair him there. Tommy's not as good from 175 to 200.
I'm just using examples here. So, let's not waste that. We can use our best 175 to 200 player with a shorter driver and maximize it there is how you would do that. Like, and, you know, putting range, how often are you putting somebody in a certain putting range, are they going to have all the birdie puts, put your best putters to have, you know,
“most of the birdie puts would be like how you would lay it all that over. But, I think that's”
just like, you guys like playing together? Cool. Let's go. Let's bench cam young for the opening session. I do think, I won't go. I'm excited for on the international side. I think he's a lock for the team. Rio hits out sooner. I played relatively well this week. I think he was 10 or 11th. And the international is, I think it's going to be an interesting, like, I'm more excited about this venue for the international that I've been, at least since, since for a Melbourne
back, you know, however long ago that was, was a 2019. Yeah. And I think, you know, some of that's, I mean, shit, the captain code is, like, co-designed the golf course itself. But,
but also just the short grass, the, you know, it's a second shot golf course. And just seeing
guys, you know, you got, see, we was playing pretty good golf. Sung J seems to be playing himself back into form. You know, you're going to need a Nico at you, Maria, to play really well. But, otherwise, yeah, I don't know. J, like, J, Danny's going to go in Adam Scott. He's playing playing
“good G, Tom Kim's playing good G, like, really good course fit for him, I think. And hits out sooner.”
You got somebody to pair a deck you with. You wanted to just from a language perspective. T, C, come on. So, I know you're trying to hold it on the edge. I know your shape or instead. I know your try. I know your try. I know the worst matches I've ever seen in deep golf. No, this, I, I felt like it was a, at that before, solid much worse mismatch at, at a, row of Montreal all last time around. I don't know. Going out of the list, you see, we can, this is the current
standings, not sure if they're updated after today. But see, we go off the, O, W, G, R. Ryan Fox, Hadecki Matsuyama, Minmoly, Tom Kim is fifth. Adam Scott six, Corey Conner's good top six, seventh, Nico at Shavaria, eighth, Sungjae, M, ninth, Jason Day, 10th, Casey Jarvis, and the weekend. Let's make it south sooner. And then you've got Nick Taylor, Pat Geter, and, uh, I don't know, Jaden, uh, Shaper. I'm not familiar with his, his game.
Sure. I mean, let's, we're going to have to get some names to go way down the board, right? But like, let's get weird. Like, I think this is an opportunity to get extra weird with the, I don't, like, I don't think there's any rule. Does the guy have to be a PGA tour member? Like, if we pick somebody way outside the, it would certainly help to be able to add nemen and Lucas Harbert to the team right now. Like, that would, but he's in setting aside live.
Like, if it was like, all right, we're going to, we're going to bring on. Who's those people? You're talking about your passion. I don't know. I haven't gotten that far yet, you know?
“I think Shaper would be one of them, but I don't know if that's what you're, what you're”
looking for. But I just think Role Montreal was such a, you kind of know how that's going to go, given a larger sample size in the president's cup. If anything, they should be trying to shrink the sample size to make this thing competitive. There's so many more things that they could do to make this more competitive. They have done that. They've taken matches away. You step too many matches. They, they've taken matches away and made it kind of more in line closer and mind to the,
to the writer cut. But as we're speaking, Michael Asaso has won a live golf Indianapolis. Wrong, wrong, the dude wrong got picked. Got runner ups. Yeah. By Lasaso. What a memory for Lasaso. When the last one put that on the resume kiddo. That's, that's big for the young man. It's got to deal with, but it's just taking the stage. I've kind of upset where I, I don't have the sound on for our lowest sign off for this one here. But what did Rob do down down the stretch?
I don't know. He, but he broke it his last hole. No, he did. He birdie is last hole. He's finished on one. He finished on one. He, he bokehed one. I don't think that's right. I mean, he started on two. He birdie two. And he, he, he won. How did he? Yeah. I don't know how their scoreboard works. Do you see the little dark thing on the left side? Oh, I see. I know you're very familiar with this. He did bokeh's last hole. Rob, it's a shame. It was just going
started. Rice and sea. So jarg flip the go over to that after the V of W. Just because I had it on
mute on the second TV. And I forget about the music every time. It just, he's lined up a shot coming
To the 17.
We got a couple other, you know, some things, I guess from professors from earlier in the week,
as we, you know, we're going to talk a little bit of live stuff here, but two guys in particular were asked questions about live golf. It was Scotty Schefler and Rory McElroy that's different answers.
“To those, but I think we have those clips here. I went Scotty was asked about welcoming,”
welcoming players back if you had that guy. Sir, there's chatter again about live. Maybe not having as many events next year. And some of the guys wanting to come back. Would you be welcoming to the tour offering the same opportunity that Brooks took up? Yeah, I think like when we talk about the best players, you know, live has as a few players that are really good. You know, I think the depth that we have on our tours a bit unmatched. But I think when you look at the higher levels of
of live golf, there's definitely some players that would provide, you know, a lot of value to the tour
and guys that I love competing against as well. And so I think going forward, they're obviously has to be, I think, some sort of penalties. What those are, you know, all that roll up and all those guys figured out, you know, we have great leadership within the tour now. But I think having those guys come back and competing with, whatever happens with live, whether those guys want to leave or
“I mean, you got to ask them. But I think for me being able to compete against the best players in the”
world, you know, there's certainly some guys on that tour that can compete out here. And, you know, I look forward to the chance to compete with them more often. All right. And then we'll global play these back to back. We can react to both of them. But here's here's Rory being asked something similar as well. Gotty was asked about the possibility of live guys coming back and whether they bring value in your opinion or their guys, if it goes away, that should be a lot of back.
I mean, I'd argue how if they brought value to live. You know, I think PJ Tours in a really good spot. I don't agree with Rory there. I think they definitely brought value to live. I mean, they made it like sure for your saga, but you know, that's a good for it. It's got to be one, rather such a good answer. Like it was just a perfect answer of like, I just got to be penalties. I look forward to competing with those guys. There's only a few guys that are really, really,
really good players. You've got to kind of got that dig in there. It was just a, you know, I'll let those guys figure it out. Like what that's going to be, smarter than not the way in on what the penalty should be. And I don't know at this point what what Rory's after with that,
but it was just a, it's second. He's going to tell you what he thinks on this.
“I mean, I don't, I don't, I don't have to check how consistent that is with prior statements. I think”
I think you would agree. John Rom would bring value back to the PGA tour. I think he has brought value to live. It just is not in the way that it's like means immediate eyeballs, but not afraid to get in the mix and keep at it, man. It, it ruffled some feathers. That's for sure. But at this point, yeah, I mean, at this point, I think that's just what he's, what he's almost what he's trying to do, right? It's just ruffled feathers and,
yeah, I don't know. It's like he's, hey, man, you asked me a question. I'm going to, I'm going to give you an unvarnished answer. That's, that's fine. It may not be totally accurate, but it reflects his feeling, right? Yeah. But the question was, should they be allowed back, and he just replies, like, what value do they bring to live? And kind of dodges it with, I think PGA tours in a really good spot. Like, yeah, they are, but like, yeah, it's a big
outstanding question here, man. How should they be up in front of the ground? I don't think it's an accurate answer, like, yeah, I don't think they, I think, I mean, wrongs a dude in your opinion. And he, of course, he would bring value. Of course. Absolutely. You guys want to get in the rest of the lift stuff, anything else? You want to, you want to try it real quick? Anybody that missed the tour championship that you were
surprised at shocked at anything like that? Like, I know, right, a couple of locks up, Strockin, just based on how your guys' takes us. A set pass in the last year. Was it was a lock, okay? Yeah. Norman kind of shit down his leg today. He was, he was in the mix, and then I think he, it a tough day, shot himself out of the mix. Neil had a really tough interaction with Bud Colley on the way back to the, I had a note on that one too, TC. So, you know,
it's cool you stay in, you know, we're staying in the host hotel and great day, Thursday, so we get back Thursday, evening, we're staying awake for the, for the elevator and Bud Colley walks. So I've met Bud, nice guy. And so I kind of was just, you know, and we had just been at a holderous and boring event the night before, and he's an H&B. So I kind of had all, I was like, oh, maybe I'll, yeah, with him. I said, hey, Bud, how to go out there. And right as that was coming out,
I was like, I probably should have led with something else, and he was all fr...
he didn't really say anything. I was like, hot, huh? He's like, yeah, it's hot. And then TC let me know,
like, remanculated that he is DFL. And I was like, yeah, so it was very quiet elevator ride. That was one of those, like, as the words were coming out, I just, I didn't even said that. I should have led with something else or just not said anything. But hey, you know, sometimes you got a shoot to shot. I don't, I don't like not interacting in elevators. I like to at least say hot, hello. It's like, oh, I know that guy, hey, let me say something. I just should have led with something else.
Uh, Pound for Pound, JT posts and need him in the torch championship finished 30 seconds. What else we got? We got Mav. Mav's got to be making the torch championship.
“You know, that's, that's just, you need to take a step forward there. Michael Brennan,”
and no, you know, I think he needs to be on the president's cup team. But it's hard to pound the table for him if he's not going to be at the torch championship. Right. Uh, these are your boys, TC. So it's, it's big. No, this is where the expertise comes in. He's going to weave in and out of like, yeah, great from, you know, Brennan. He's got to be on the team. JT can't be on the team because he didn't make torch championship. He didn't make presence come.
Yeah, you know, speed, speed didn't even make the BMW. You can't be on the team. I do kind of miss that I can't even do an earnest speed should be on the president's cup team. Uh, go the round this time around. Like, that's kind of part of the fun of fall. Yeah. JT, yeah. JT 43rd just just kind of a mess. He's in man and not really talked about not bad enough to get talked about not good enough to be really in the mix. Uh, what's the problem?
Just just kind of floating slow decline of kind of everything, man. It's just not nearly the elite ball striker that he that he used to be. And, um, I mean, yeah, he's just barely above average ball striker. He's still
“a really good short game. Plottings have been fine. Honestly, he's just like, yeah, one of his,”
this is on Loki, like a worse season than he put up in 2023 amongst that massive controversy around Rome. Um, I had plays horrific. Yeah. 110th on tour and iron play. Yeah. It's two top tens this year. Tough. Yeah. I don't know. It's, I had, it's been interesting spot for him for
president's cup incredible president's cup record. Good good writer cup record as well. He's in that
top 12 in points. Like, I, he did not get selected on the team in 2024. If you remember for Rome, Montreal. Um, but again, it's kind of like that that week bottom of the team, I think makes it somewhat likely that he would give it's now one of those wild card spots. All right. Let's do, let's do live. Yeah. Uh, let's go. Um, just a couple, just a lot of random notes from this past week. One that was going around Tiro Patton. Uh, he walked out to, I want to break free. Uh,
and Tom McKibben came out to breaking free. Uh, this was noted by the fried egg. They were bragging about this. It being kind of on the nose, uh, for wanting to bust out of live, uh, bragging about this to other players as well. You can spare me on that one guys. Uh, you, you signed up for this one. Uh, you're not some prisoner here. You signed a contract. You got paid really handsomely even if it's slightly less than, uh, what you were, uh, what you were promised. Uh,
you will not fight Tiro Patton's got a long way to go to find any sympathy for me on this would, uh, as someone, you know, as part of a failed startup long ago, like you got to accept the, you know, if you're going to risk, if you're going to go disrupt something, like this is part of it,
“man. So you got to kind of, you got to wear it a little bit. I think maybe that's what if I was going”
to, you know, carry, carry Roy's water a little bit. I think that's what he's doing. I'm not throwing those guys a life raft. You know, like, I'm not going to have a lot of my way to like, do I agree with what he said? No, but do I agree with like his tone? I'm like, I could see how he's doing that. Like that's part, that's part of the deal, man. You guys, you took a big risk, got paid for it. And now you got to kind of, uh, take on the chin. Uh, I, yeah, I did you get any of those failed startups. You
get paid millions and millions of millions of dollars up front for any of that. It's got so much, so much sweet sweet equity though. It's the sweetest, which I think is where I think we're pivoting that direction here with live this sweet sweet. Long term. Oh my God, these sound like some of my crypto bets that did not go very well. I still technically have like 30 cents of terror loona or something like that. But that's Bitcoin doing something. Oh, it's awesome. A week. A week. Yeah.
Yeah, this week. I'm sorry to feel on it. Thank you. But next, what you got next, TC. Uh, financial type, I think it's read the article. I don't have financial times, but it's said,
there was going around that Yasser basically pulled the plug-in live after Sergio's temper tantrum
with the masters, which I think would be a generous summation of things. I'm sure they just.
Yeah.
and I don't know why this doesn't get brought up more often. Like a year and a half ago, little more than a year and a half ago, Yasser was offered hundreds of millions of dollars buy out for live and a seat on the PGA tour board, only for him, like a little over a year later,
“to just give away live for nothing. Like that. I think that was a real offer. Like something”
that the tour would have followed through with, because I don't. Well, I think they, they would, but I think it was like to jettison. It's hard to be gone. Like we're going to pay a premium. Like we're going to buy live. We're going to on the rights to it. Like that was the thing. And it was like kind of an audio out piece. Yeah. But it was kind of a, as I understand the conversation, kind of a not an agreement of like, like they live as worth zero dollars. Let's be clear about that. Like they did a good faith,
like offered somewhere between 550 million, I've heard both numbers of like here's what we're going to value at that. But we're going to control it.
And it was like, in Yosher one, it's still talk about like what the plans for it were. And they were like, I mean, we're gonna control it. And like we're gonna run into the ground. Like it's done and that was when like the conversation ended.
Like he stopped talking and then never they met. The sides never spoke again after that I don't think. And then just like a little over a year later, after the masters, he's like, yeah, we're done with this thing. And got nothing out of it.
It's insane. It's insane. He could have parlated it. And all the guy wanted was access out of all of it. And we could have had a seat on the PGA tour board.
And he's now just giving it away for nothing. It's incredible. I was not a solution. I was expecting to happen here. Vendor lawsuits continued to roll in for Liv Josh Carpenter
to report over this week. Players had not been paid as a Monday of this past week for Liv Vendor at least some of the players.
Later reported that they were finally paid.
They did reduce the purse this week. In addition to canceling next week's team event as well. It's got to be some players got paid and some didn't know.
“I think you reported that he didn't talk to all players.”
But I think it was like at least some of the players that he had talked to or were aware of had not been paid. So I don't, I think it was just not. And there's also obviously not how it works. But there's two different payments, right?
There's kind of your, you know, your signing, your salary. I don't even know what you'd call it because you are employed by Liv. And then there's the winnings. So that the, I wonder if the players weren't getting paid.
They're winnings from Bedminster. Yeah, I don't know.
Um, Scott O'Neill, he pulled some, uh, some more bullshit this week.
Um, you know, it was asked about have there been conversations with other leagues or stewards about not re-instituting fines or maybe letting players return to the DP. World Tories said, you know, we heard some, he said Stuart Cage apparently called a bunch of our agents, uh, of players and some of our players directly said I don't know him. I met him once, but I don't know him.
I'm sure he's a wonderful guy, but so I encourage you to direct those questions to the leadership of the European tour. It seems counter to where golf is going, but I can't answer for them.
“That I believe has been, uh, determined to be bullshit and it was the other way around.”
Agents were calling the DP World Tories. It was not, uh, the DP World Tories region out directly. Two players that are under contract with Liv, uh, great, great move there. And then he, he pulled, uh, Frey, I think we got it. We got it.
This is going to have to go into Lexicon. We're going to have to keep this one. Uh, Odeel said, the philosophy is simple. If you've been around me before you've heard it, it's complete, not compete. Golf doesn't need one tour to win and everyone else to lose.
There are great tours around the world. They serve different markets, different fans and have different purposes. We believe players should have the flexibility to compete across these platforms when they are good enough and enhance the fields. Project Wedge, Project Wedge, uh, once everyone wants this to be a complete thing and not
compete, as they were intending to stage their last two events up against the final two events in the US, uh, against the PGA tour, their team championship, go up against the Torch Championship or the PGA tour, not let their players out of any of the events go play. They just want to complete it.
Now guys, now they're out of money. Now they've lost the war. They just want to be part of the ecosystem. Can we just get along? Gosh.
Yeah. Stuart Cage. I was not familiar with his game. Yeah, he won the, uh, he won the 1992 Lidham trophy and the 92 English amateur. How about that?
And he's now like the, you know, the head of play relations for the D.P. World Tour. Working with phones. Yeah. Lost the Murphy's Irish Open in 1995. You guys could have covered him in your deep dive.
If you guys cared at all about the international game and not just the title of the episode is the Hitchit. It's the PGA tour season. I mean, we have to focus it on something. It's an overwhelming project.
Lastly, I have a very silly report with circulating that Ram was headed back to the tour for a $25 million fine. It had people believing it. I was playing golf with somebody on Tuesday that I got to learn all my phone that Ram's
Headed back to the PGA tour for a $25 million fine.
We're five years into this, guys. We got to check sources. We got to check sources.
“Do not re-share republish things coming from the live-bought world.”
They're going to do this all like it's all they want. That's all they want is the attention for this. How that got treated is actual news and people were sharing it like it was real. I do not understand, but we got it. We got a stop.
Solid, you sound like my guy, pro golf critic. What is the source of this data? What is this, cracks me up every time somebody replies to him with his own. What is the source of this data? They're going down the ship, man.
It's incredible. We're still wrong about everything. That's what I keep reading. It's remarkable. I know you've got some live notes here as well.
We're going to get that here in a second.
I want to give a shout to our friends at Holderness and Born, the H&B fall collection. It is here. They've got new arrivals. They've got new colors inspired by the landscape, the color, and the coastline of northern california.
All of your favorites are there and a whole lot more. That's a wonderful website just to scroll around. NLU10 gets your 10% off, hbgolf.com, and it's still the only discount code on the market. Holderness is everywhere. I just got a massive shipment in for a project.
We got coming up here. I've been greatly looking forward to that. They have so many great polos. This is one of my favorite hoodies of all time. You've got a t-shirt on the other, they can make fantastic t-shirts.
They make just pretty much everything. Everything you could possibly want. Good athletic shorts now. I will say this fall collection because we've got some in our shop, it's truly, it's like washed out, blues, greens, like really hazy, herpinchy, like seaside light vibes.
I'm way, way in on the fall collection. I would encourage people to go check out what they're cooking up over on hbgolf.com. 10% off using code NLU10, anytime I see somebody in some H&B you just, you know there are noir. But that digital ball, noir, and so join the club there, hbgolf.com, NLU10, you will not
regret it. You got, I'm looking forward to this. What do you got on the live side, T-C?
Yeah, I was just going to give a shout out first and foremost, to pro golf critic and some
of the other online people, just, you know, they're, sounds like summers may be trying to jump ship or they're going to kill alls once we do, I'll be very curious to see what my guy flush has to say once the dust settles. But I got to give credit to the clicks, they're starting to flip a little bit, man. He's reporting some bad, live news, which has been an interesting development of
the last several weeks. Yeah, I know. We need to get to the, to the root of that, that split there, maybe he was waiting for some of his payments to come in, and they just didn't come in. But they, I will say, the clicks are going down with the ship, man.
They just, this public drip collab, absolute fire, they had the double click, it was like an orange logo this week, kind of a burn orange thing.
“And they've just been, like, I think the clicks could continue post-live, it's just like”
a lifestyle brand. And that's how they broke off. No, I will, like, I will try to put together a group to buy the clicks IP at like post-live and keep this thing going. Yes.
They did. I'd notice that in the merch tent at bed, Mr. I mean, the, the click stuff is like thoughtful, you know, you can probably like the, like, four aces and Oklahoma City golf club stuff is like, oh, God, but you could see some, some teams are trying some not, the clicks have a perspective, they, they have, they've, they've taken them the merch and team branding
very seriously. And listen, I wish they would have taken the golf a little bit more seriously, although I'm not congratulating, I think Victor Perez missed this week, because he and his wife, I don't know if they've had the baby yet or they're still expecting, but congratulations in order to them, uh, Blandy gave it a really nice run this week, kind of ran out of gas,
finished solo ninth, um, love seeing that. But just a total cast of characters on the, the leaderboard this week with Lasaso ROM, you
know, one, two, and he got Bryson, Sergio, tied for third, Richard T. Lee, he's one of
the wild cards was, was fifth along Scott Vincent and Lori Canter, Dean Burmester, Aath, Blandy, ninth, Leash, and Dietrich, 10th, and then Bjorn Helgren tied for 12th. So Matt Wolff was, was in the mix for a bit this week, I forgot he existed, uh, that
“would have been a perfect winner for this week, but I think Lasaso is, is, is very fitting”
as well. Um, I think from a, I saw the Johnny Rumble news, Solie, that he, that he, that he'd been playing out on Long Island, was that last week with Jimmy Dunn, I don't know if there was Chinacock or one of his other 15 clubs out there, but, um, I'm fascinated
To see what the, what the fall holds for John ROM, uh, Brendan Steele indicat...
would prefer to remain at live golf. Oh, okay. Yeah, that's great. DJ got a particular kick
“out of that one, he's in that one over, uh, told the live golf championship rings, uh,”
furnished by Ben Baller, I've not been paid for it and they were not presented this week. That was per, per, I got flush. And then, uh, Solie, you were up in arms about this one, uh, Oklahoma City Golf Club, tried to play a six. Oh, God. This week, he had to get to have it. I'm not doing it. If there's, if there's, if there's a slide golf club ever something, the nuclear golf is going to be all over. They were, they were on top of this
story, but, uh, do you see HV3 punch back on this? Have you, have you, have you seen the opportunity to do this? Yeah. There was an up back on social. Yeah, they, they, they, to socials through an agent has made a statement on this. They, uh, I mean, bear slide golf club has a very lengthy post, uh, on social media. I mean, yeah, they, they were standing on business, uh, for what happened here. They said on August 18th, Harold Varner had a
for some book on the T sheet when they arrived. They were 30 minutes late for their tea time and brought six total golfers. We had commented the additional group being formed. They were
informed. They could go off as two, three sums. At the first, he, they insisted they
should be allowed to play the game as a six. Um, the starter and form them again. That is not allowed. After asking the starter four more times, one of the group members told the starter that he was being rude and needed to calm down. Another person from the group defended the starter saying that he wasn't being rude, just enforcing the rules. Then Mr. Varner, again, asked the starter if they could play as a six. Um, the starter said
no, but they could ask the pro shop if they would like. Mr. Varner asked the pro shop three separate times if they could play with the large group to which he was informed that is not allowed, especially when there is play behind them. The groups that teed office two, three sums continue to play this way on holds one through three when they got to the part three fourth hole away from the clubhouse they joined together. That's just
showing up man. It's all good. One of the members of the groups that they were just watching the group in front teed off, which was completely untrue. Our staff watched all six teed off and put out together. Uh, after leaving four green, the group was informed that they needed to bring their cards back to the parking lot. They were so good. We were funded. They were no longer welcome on the course at no time where they ever told to quote, get the
hell off the course. All of them received the refunds. Uh, regarding the claim that there was nobody behind them. This is again completely untrue. There was a group on the fourth team waiting on them another group on hold three and other two groups on hold two. Uh, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, they hit back. Uh, I don't have the link that the post that they,
“uh, I see if I can find it here. I hope nuclear put it up. They, uh, I think they did”
clear it a busy week, man. I mean, also fascinated that they're paying for golf. You know, I thought each Tuesday. Yeah, could get a, you know, get an invite somewhere. That's okay, GC, uh, they they finished dead last this week, even behind the clicks. Well, the other playing scramble. So that's taking it seriously. Live golf is serious stuff. Um, HV3 posted the statement by posted by bear slide contains several inaccuracies. There's
not really represent what happened. Uh, Harold and his team paid to play before teeing up. They asked them where they could play a three on three scramble when they started to climb the request. They respected the decision and played it at pace as two separate groups of three. Uh, the first group would complete the whole watch the second group play to the green, then proceed to the next hole. At no point did the six golfers combine or play as a
six. Um, there was also no groups immediately had or behind them being delayed. Uh, blah, blah, blah,
if there's anything that didn't happen, the most thing that has never happened was that they
first group would watch them play a play a hole and then then then move on. They get almost certainly. So solid. Just a little bit about bear slide. Bear slide is one of Indiana's premier public golf courses golf digest is given bear slide a four point five or four and a half star rating and included among the nine best in Indiana. There's also been rated as one of the top 75 most affordable courses in the United States. It offers a Scottish link style front nine in a traditional
style back nine. Bear slide creek me hinders through the back nine fairways and the course features stunning elevation changes throughout. So I can see why HV3 wanted to check
“it out and listen, we take pace a place seriously. Good on them. Yeah, I stay with bear slide. I think”
who who was on the who was on OKGC this week? Do they have any replacement players or it was Gooch varnar co-crack him a doll? So I mean, I'm sure co-crack what was it all in? Or what was what was his thing? What was his title? All in. Yeah, what's in all chips in? We're chosen Jason co-crack gonna go. Where do you want to go next, TC? What else do I have? I had, I think that was pretty much it on that. Yeah, otherwise LPGA, we had a national open this week, up in Canada. It was an Edmonton,
Neil at Royal May Fair.
It's still going on as we speak. You mash it up is a seven-shot lead over say on Kim and
“Yuryoshita through with eight seven holes to play. It looks like tough shape. I think I heard”
it was the lift clean in place all week. Kind of a tricky, tricky travel stretch for the ladies. I spent July in overseas and then they came back and they had Portland. They went Portland last week, Edmonton this week and then they go to Boston next week, which is just I know like Lauren's a past champ. She's skipped it this week. I think it's just a, it's tricky to get from Edmonton to Boston, you know, accordingly. So, but yeah, I think, you know, Solheim Cup teams are locked in
everything. Sir, Breeze kind of knows what they need to do. They're playing ahead for for CME, Torchampions, you know. So, uh, it's corn fairy tour over yet? It is. That was over earlier today. They were taking it. They were taking it deep this week on the corn fairy tour T.C. Yeah, Yuta Sagarah, 29 under 25 to 20, 23rd. You've got, let's see, Cynthia Sandy Scott, T4. Okay, 30th. Guys, you could finish 20 under and that doesn't get you a top 20.
It's crazy. That's sort of more rising. You could shoot 700, you could shoot 6968 to open the week and not make the elastic around for the weekend. That was, minus 1838, kind of 17 is tied for 50th. That's insane. So, my guy Tommy Morrison, the door of five member, uh, finished 77th. So, we'll have to keep an eye on that. He's still six than the, in the standings, but how bad must he have played today to shoot 76? He must have felt like he shot 96. Yeah, that's, that's tough.
This was the Kansas City one, right? Blue Hills. Yes, that's right. Kansas City. That's right. Yeah. Yeah, he made a trip on his, on his, uh, uh, his back nine today, the fourth hole. The kind of one of those he probably could have made like nine birdies in a row after that and made like $450 and moved up three spots. It's not for 477. Yeah. 58th guy. I just want to make a correction. There are 64 royal courses around the world. That's it. Thank you. Throw that out there.
And I will say I watched, uh, a good amount of the necks at this morning. So, good, links call feeling. Uh, I was, I was, I was, I was enjoying that, um, links adjacent. It's a little bit like the look and feel of it. It was like, oh man. Great tunes. Yeah. Exactly. That, uh, taught my life. Great tunes. He got ruined. For every, I remember once I held another golf course in Scotland, but, you know, he'd be eating all over those tunes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
It, uh, at, at Trump and, uh, Aberdeen. Is that right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Of course, there's a little bit to be desired. A little, the manufacturer will push up greens,
little, like, done Donald. He kind of, uh, you know, listen, never been there. Just more so, like,
“it catches your eye on TV. It's stunning, it's stunning visually. That's, that's what they were going”
for. It's all on the flip side because this is, this is one of the next, uh, I think this is next month. They're having the, the Irish open there. I played Dunebag again. That's weak. It, it was so much better than the first time I played my heart. It was like, it was really good. Like, the routing was fun. The conditioning was awesome. Um, I just, like, I truly, like, I didn't feel, like, we gave it a unfair review the first time around. And this time around, I was like, oh,
you know what? Like, yeah, good on you guys. It was, it was great. That was, I distinctly remembered being like, there's still more golf holes to play on this quote. Like, I'm ready to be done on this golf course. So that is, you're, you're a hard, hard endorsement to earn there. So I will definitely, definitely. Yeah. Yeah. I can, we can do a pod later in the fall about it because it was,
it was essentially like, I just went with, it was the first golf trip I've been on in like nine
years where I haven't planned it for myself. So it was very fun. It just belonged for the ride. And we did pretty much the exact same. I tend to raise, we did for, for Torosauce, uh,
“was that 2019, Torosauce season four, I think. Um, and yeah, it was, like,”
except for we played Counter Shabell as well. Counter Shabell is awesome. Yeah, that's, that dingle golf links. But anyway, we can get into that. Uh, we've got Walker Cup teams were announced. Um, I don't think any huge surprises, especially on the, the GB and I side, you got, uh, you got six returnies coming from Cyprus. Um, you got Nile, Shields Dawn
Again, uh, Luke Polter, uh, Graham Baker Weaver in Greehand.
you know, six newbies as well. So, um, I think the biggest surprises on the U.S. side with, um,
“Akina making it. I think that was probably the, the one that was kind of the biggest head scratcher”
for people. But like I know Nile, you're stoked to see, uh, Tyler Watts. I think he's a stand-out for you at the U.S. and D.P. one, right? Yeah. And I do not see Mason Hall on this list. Um, which I also think is interesting. I mean, Jay Lang just went on like the ultimate heater. Yes, he did. Uh, Miles Russell, Preston Stout, Ethan Fang, Ryder Cowen. Uh, is he, Kea, Akina? Yeah, uh, just saw a kill for things. Stu, back for more. Um, but yeah, I mean, that's a
big one that Mason Hall, you know, won the U.S. Am last year. And, um, yes, I guess he had tough season.
But I feel like, I feel like with Akina, it's probably the, like he won the, the Mikkelson award,
which is funny. That's, that's the nation's top collegiate freshman. He won that this year. So it's kind of an investment in the future. I think of, hey, let's get some, get some young collegiate blood. This thing. So, um, yeah, had that solid. I had, uh, it was a tough week for good. Good. I don't know if you saw that one. Yeah. Hard to miss. Yeah, that was everywhere. Um, nuclear high-tech dialogue was going popping. Yeah. I don't know where to go with that one,
guys. It, um, I, I feel like I'm rooting for good good. Like I, they seem like nice dudes,
“they've made a big impact on the game. Um, and I think it gets good good. Yeah. But that way.”
Yeah. We don't think we, I don't think we're swimming in the same lane. Like it feels a little
weird to comment on because it's kind of a competitor in some way, but it's kind of not like I don't really view them as a competitor. But it's like, I don't want to kick them all their down as well. They had a, if you did, if you somehow missed it this past week, they had a clip from a video that was kind of an ad or a promotion for their new driver that involved them just absolutely decking a woman that was getting ready to grab the driver out of Garrett's bag. And it was weird. It was off-putting and a lot of
people very much didn't like it. They had issue a statement about a cow issue, just statement about a PGA tour, had issue a statement about it. Um, I don't really know what happened here other than like my like amateur read on the situation was that they did a whole skit video on this like that was supposed to be a weird drama in some way that I do not think was going to be very good. If you ask me, it looked like it was going to be like a, like a horror movie. Yeah, you know, like that like the
happening or something, which was also a horrible movie. So yeah, the fact that that's where I picked up for, I'm like, it's just doesn't look, it's not good. They picked up the driver than they were possessed and then everybody just started seeing like it. Yeah, I think there was going to be like a parody. I don't know if there is a full video or it was going to be and then they clipped the part where they just like deck the girl region for the driver and say, and it was like in that was just,
yeah, you can't do that. You can't do that on social media. Like you can't just like put that in front of people and give them that to comment on. Um, so I, I don't know, it was, it was, it was not good. Don't give me wrong. Uh, but I, I do like those guys also got a lot of goodwill in the bank after all the years they've been doing it that they're not, uh, uh, I don't think that was like exactly representative of what they stand for and to the point where I, I know they're getting absolutely
crushed and I, I don't know. I feel, I feel, I feel bad for him at this point. I know it was a misstep. It was a mistake. They've owned it. Um, maybe the apology wasn't good enough for people. I know it was what I had an issue with. Yeah. It was like the most meally mouth. Yeah. I just understand how does that happen? Like, you know, different stakeholders that has to go through. If you're if you're collabbing with Callaway and move a vast break and stuff, T.C. It's crazy. Yeah. Just, yeah,
I struggled a little bit around my head around that one. Well, the interesting thing is they've
“got a P.J. Tour event, right? And it's, you know, cancel culture if you want to call it that moves”
quickly. James Corrigan was calling for them to, you know, the P.J. Tour to kick off the tour. Got the event. Well, Corrigan said, people were calling for them to kill the event. And more people were calling for it. Um, yeah. It was, it's not, listen, don't make videos where, where you're, you know, promoting or showing violence against women. I think is a very easy, easy rule to live by. Um, but yeah, it was just not, not a good, not a good
week for them. So, yeah. How was the N.O.U event at, uh, Columbia Farms? Yeah, we had a great event with
Our friends, the Evan Scholars as well.
cadding for, for the, at the summer festival we had at Columbia Farms. It was awesome. I mean,
they got so much, uh, bad weather in Chicago, so much rain. We were kind of warned on course conditions and things coming in and, and of course, was, uh, called my dream to unbelievable. When we, we had the jackpot on the, on the two days of golf we had there and the day of, of, whether we got for the event was just, it was awesome. So, how was the redo? They're Jackson Connery did that, right? It was, uh, it was tough. It was tough. You see, there's, uh, a lot of, a lot of, a lot of rough
out there. Um, it was, uh, it, it looked like a, a redo ready to have some more professional golf events, ready for some more tour events. It was, uh, I was expecting to be a little bit friend there, uh, than that. I mean, it was, but like all the work they did in a draining, like, did, it was,
“because you go to couple spots in the rough and you're like, oh my, okay, that's how much it's”
rained here. Holy crap. But the Greens rolled great. Fairways rolled out and, uh, it was, um, it was, it was great. It was a, it was a wonderful, wonderful. I, I, I, it's, I'm surprised how little I remembered about it from being there nine years ago, I guess, but it was like,
experience it all for the first time. And then we'd been back there since BMW championship.
Great event. Great. We'd great. A lot of our sponsors put up a ton, uh, but we had friends from titles come out, do demonstrations and everything and great prizes to give away and everything. So it was, uh, great. Thank you everyone. A lot of people travel from, from well out of town to make it in for that one. And we did some of the strongest vibes we've had at an in-person, uh, in-person event. It was wonderful. So in, uh, DJ had the, the Evan Scholar the year on the bag. It's exactly right.
Yes. Saul Galvin, um, who actually, uh, you may have seen him on the BMW championship, uh, Instagram, uh, this past week, uh, as well. He got to, got to hang with Trev and Jim Nance in the
“booth there and, and, uh, DJ had him, uh, I thought he had him on the bag at, um, yeah, he did have”
him on the bag for this one. That's exactly right. I had, he had Abby on the bag. Sorry for the, Evan Scholar's, invitationly played at the, uh, on the corn fairy tour this year. So, but, uh, I was shot, I had, uh, Brian Sheen on the bag and he's my mentee, my Evan Scholar mentee. I was introduced last week, uh, and I was able to connect with him in, in at BMW. I don't know what I'm going to mentor him on, but I'm going to do my best, man. So let's, let's,
let's get to it, Brian. He's, uh, he's at, uh, Missouri, uh, Mizu. I had, uh, I had, uh, I had, uh, I had, uh, I had my Amy University, um, uh, uh, uh, uh, gentlemen on his way. He's like literally, leaving like the next day to go to Miami to start his, his freshman year. Uh, it's like cool. It's like, man, what about, what old advice do I give somebody, uh, you know, roll it in for their freshman year and I thought, you know what, you know what, it's all
them, it's like, call your parents. Call your, call your parents more than I did. Just do it. Just talk to them. They're going to miss the heck out of you. And, uh, I didn't, I didn't call home enough. Uh, that was, that was my advice to have been coming freshman. It's good advice. I like that. Yeah. Um, he's like, I just want to do a quick St. Louis rundown. First time last thing before we get to that. I don't know if you guys saw the Sean Norris penalty,
uh, that was, that was one thing that had, uh, people up in arms, he was getting into his stance, uh, didn't like, like, a divot that was under his foot that had been replaced. Yeah, kicked it away. I saw that live. And I thought about it. I was like, I don't think you can do that. And then I was like, well, maybe it wasn't really in the vicinity. I literally thought that in the moment, it's on mute. And I'm like, I don't think you can do that. But,
uh, maybe that was like not near the ball. So it's okay. So I'm glad to know that I, I'm, my,
instinct. That's crazy. I'm almost never in the studio. I know. I know.
Uh, yeah. I'm operating off of pre 2019 rules. But you keep saying that like, it would have been right into it. And it's not like, almost always you do that. You haven't wrong on both sides of it. That's a tough one. Because that if you watched it live, it was like under his back right foot. You know what it, you like that wasn't, it wasn't like stuck away and wrecked his swing. And he just, yeah, he just kicked it out. Like, it, it looked like it made me look twice. But it, it didn't
feel, you know, I don't know. So that was like rules ago for fucking dumb. Like it didn't impact anything. You know what I'm saying? Like I, I can see how he would get that one wrong.
“Somebody flagged the actual rule. I, I think I booked Marcha. Let me see where it was. Because it was like”
extremely, extremely cut and dry. Yeah. Dr. Golf rules. Uh, is that, that would make sense. Dr. Golf rules. All right. I might have to, uh, D.M. Dr. Golf rules get him on speed dial. He, uh, yeah, I forget, I don't know where this is listed here on this rule. Is that the AI coming out now? True. U.S.G.A. does. But it literally says like if the, if the, if the dividend is replaced and like the roots are facing down, uh, in there like you can't, yeah, the dividend was like replaced. Okay.
I didn't think, I thought it was just some spare dividend. It looked like it was to me grass up to sitting like a divot sitting freely on top. And he was, you know, is bugging his back foot. And he just quickly kicked it away. And then like he then reset. Like, I don't think he didn't, you know, he didn't, like, do a whole reset. But he didn't hit the ball immediately. Yes. It says, uh, rule 8.1 A3 prohibits improving the conditions affected by stroke by pressing down, removing or
Repositioning a divot in a divot hole, which is treated as part of the ground.
not yet attached or growing, a divot has been replaced with most of it with the roots down is
in a divot hole, whether or not the divot is in the same divot hole that it came from. So yeah, cannot, cannot move it once it's been been placed into a divot hole. It's amazingly specific. I did not know the rule. Uh, what's that specific? People were up and I was about about it. I'm like, dude, that's, it's just as cut and dry there. I'm sorry, that's not enough. Go back to the rule stuff. I want you to start just putting down as many cool ups as you possibly
can behind your ball. I don't do that, TC. That's not, I just get the rules wrong. It's not, it's not an active, like, I just, no, and somehow I just mix them up. You know, but everything,
“I think it's understandable confusion. It's not malicious. It's not malicious. I swear to God,”
I go out of my way to like, we got a video coming out and you'll see a specific rule situation
where I'm like, it cost me big time. And I, and I still don't know if I'm, you know, but things are moving quick. And I, I played it all straight and it's, it's a six situation that only I would get into. It's very speaking of speaking of sick rule situations. Solid in St. Louis, everybody, like, all anybody wanted to talk about was that guy that faked the hole in one. Yes, God, which I avoided all of that. So I got like a full. I was like, somebody just told me the story
right now and it's like, big local drama. It was crazy. And it's actually, it's at Nathan Caron's course, the guy that's the piece that he had of the Peach Cave America. Oh, which to his credit,
sounds like they handled it. They handled it well. Yeah, really well. But like, it sounds like,
like, this guy's a habitual line step or multiple times, but yeah, just, I mean, crazy, crazy. Like, everyone was like, oh, yeah, like, dude, I happened to write down the street, just, you know, like, it's like, all anybody's been talking about for the last 10 days, like, like, local sports talk radio. They've all been hammering crazy. God, just the diabolical nature of going to the course early to place a ball in the hole to fake a hole in one is just, that's a level of
and he had to do prior to prior hole in ones where the only witness was his girlfriend or fiance,
“any one like the, you know, hole in one pot at the club. No. And I think on this one, he was like,”
hey, like, we're getting married at the club. I just want you to give us a credit instead of paying this out. Kind of thing. Just really grimy. Maybe they shouldn't well be getting married at the club if you ask me. But say, say, Louis generally speaking, we had a great time, man. It was, uh, we went to give me golf club on, that Wednesday night, new, Wednesday night. Yeah, hung out with all those guys and like, what Kyle and all those guys have built there is just, what is it for
those that are not familiar? In town clubhouse, you know, like, like, three or four simulators and just really awesome design, like homegrown golf inclusive golf clubhouse, bar in the bar or shop. Yeah. Like, you know, club, like, you know, club, like, you know, club. It's a bottle of truck out back, and then it's sitting that around. I mean, it's just like, it's almost like, hey, we just got like ideas and we're just going to bring them to life. And it was, uh, it was invigorating stuff as
“place was packed. Um, you know, I think the city was really pumped up about this event. And, uh,”
I feel like awesome hospitality went to Charlie Geedos on the hill, uh, just old school of Italian restaurant. The hill was great. T.C. I'm glad we got up there. Uh, and then I want to give a shout out to, uh, to a will. He's the, the number one percussionist in the St. Louis symphony. Uh, we've gone back and forth on on some drumming stuff. And, uh, T.C. and I went toward the St. Louis symphony hall. And it was, it was awesome. He showed us, put a little Zyla phone for us. He sent me home with,
a new drumming pad, which makes sense. If you listen to the trap, you know, I'm working my rudiments. So T.C. I've already put this bad boy into practice. Uh, so that was, that was a highlight for me. Um, but yeah, I'm asking hundreds of dumb questions. I'm like, all right, like, I, I'm, like, I have no, I don't have a musical bone of my body, but I appreciate the hell out of music. And just, yeah, really, really interesting, like professional viewpoint from him.
Uh, we got to play St. Louis Country Club, which was awesome. Uh, I mean, the, like epic epic routing, and, and, and Sali, some, some, some template stuff that is unexpected, like some unexpected twists and spins on templates, two and three are both ballbuster par threes. Uh, par fives were epic on the back. Just, yeah, just like I want to, yeah, would, would play that place is, is nails. So, bigger, uh, I'd say bigger ballpark, but would remind you, saw you of Camargo. Uh, as, you know, if,
I would put, put those two in the big fan of both those courses, and I, I wou...
doing a 10 round split between the two of them. And then they told us about this course right
across the street. Um, there was two courses right across the street that they share a golf course. Like, each of them has nine holes, and they're kind of, and each of them has their own clubhouse, but they, like, they, it's kind of like London and 11 used to be. Yeah. Um, but yeah, it's, like, really small memberships like hyper private, but it was kind of a fascinating, um, I don't know, just, it's like, wait. So, both of these club, like there's two different clubs,
“and they share the same course. Like, I've never heard of that anywhere in America, right?”
It was the bogey club and the long, the, the log cabin club, right across the street. Cool. Cool. This country club. So, last shout out of the give is Ruth Park. I played there on Friday
morning, uh, Tioff, like, six, 40. Um, so shout, they got a little Friday game out there. So shout
out to Jeff and Bobby Drummond, our, our captain of the St. Louis Roost. But that was a nice nine hole, strat type place, big time land movement, big hills, some fun holes out there. So I feel like we explored the full spectrum of golf in St. Louis city showed out, uh, listen, I know there's been some things he see that you've said about St. Louis. Would you like to, would you like to address those things? I don't even know what I've said about St. Louis. I've said things about Belriev. I'm not, you know,
I think Belriev still don't think it's a major championship venue. I think it's, it's a, it's a, it's a world class PGA tour venue. So I'll give them that good membership. Uh, St. Louis,
“I look forward to returning. I think the food scene was fascinating. We didn't get a chance to”
see if this, this pizza place was at Emo's, I'mos. I'mos, Emo's, which I think if you're from there, it's like comfort food, but if you're not, it's nasty. Yeah. It's like a special kind of cheese and like not marinara. Um, that was kind of the report I got from several people. But say, say, Louis, to me, like it struck me as, um, a city of neighborhoods, like very, very distinct neighborhoods, and, you know, it's just kind of a collection of those versus, you know, there's not a lot going
on downtown these days. And you've got, you know, it's, it's, everything's kind of moved out of the city. And like it used to be really, like, they used to have a ton of fortunate 500 companies based there, and the advertising business that kind of sprung up around that and everything. But, I mean, shit, we went to the, uh, Anha's or Bush brewery. There drank a lot of blood heavy these all week. A lot of Bush lights, too. Yeah, Bush light bottles, Bush light bottles. Uh, and then Bud select,
I guess it's something they only sell in St. Louis as well. But, maybe now they only, they used to be, they used to be just trippy, isn't it? Okay. I feel like I had that back in the day and it'd been a long, long, long, long time. How I would write out, uh, I don't know, remember red bottles, no. Maybe black. I didn't have any of those. I would say this. What proud people might be a lot of Cincinnati, which is not, I'm probably not breaking any news there. But I now understand why you since he
boys are, uh, you know, always trying to get, you know, shot in here there on the best fans and baseball.
Uh, but two cities with a lot of pride. And I think I, I, I really appreciate the hospitality from, uh, from St St. Louis to ticks. But just to clarify, just to be very clear on this, the biggest fair weather baseball fans you could possibly have. And, uh, 2022, they were the second, they had the second highest attendance, but there's a record. They're 19th now, because the team is not good anymore. And they, they, all they did was have a successful team. They're not the best
fans in baseball. We ain't going to go. Sorry. Where are you going to go? And don't bring up my team. My team sucks. As you can't, you can't, we, and we don't have good attendance. So you can't, you can't hurt me. Just you can't carry yourself with the pride that get the best fans of baseball. We had a driver one night. We can see the entire, the entire 25 minute ride. We were just naming like old Rams players. Yeah. It was guy's name in dudes. Um, but no, he's, I was convinced that
D'Angelo Hall and Dante Hall would brothers. I was, I was, I was, I was mistaken on that. So you
“sorely mistaken. I think also here a team. Is anyone thinking of the slot receiver?”
We've reached that point in this podcast of guys and name in dudes. Now, all's at home. Wasn't he a slot receiver for them? I was, yeah. I was right here a team. You're guys stepping Bailey was in the, he was a couple weeks ago. Oh, what do you do? It's not good. It was, uh, I think he was, it was some sort of public, uh, fornication kind of thing. I think we're about wrapped up. I think here today. You guys have anything else left? No, I'm good. Looking ahead
with the tour championship on the PGA tour, the British masters hosted by Sir Nick Fowdo at the Belfrey on the D.P. World Tour. FM championship at CBC Boston on the L.P.GA tour as they're last event
Before the soulheim cup.
On the housekeeping front, we're going to have a podcast Tuesday. We're going to be some announcements
coming this week from PGA tour. Brian Robbs got a press conference 10 a.m. on Tuesday. We're going to do a live podcast one p.m. Eastern time Tuesday afternoon, kind of reacting to that. Catch it live.
If you want, catch it in your drive home, whatever, but it's going to get out into the world.
“Uh, to talk about, uh, some changes coming. Um, that I think Brian Robbs going to be, uh,”
talking about on Tuesday. So we look forward to catching up on that one. Anything else we missed? One other shout out to St. Louis, all the French pronunciations that had kneeled out up and knots in certain spots. Yeah, I make sense. I wrap the river. That's it. No, I think they
“we did it tonight. It's all right. I was a here, came at eight touchdowns, by the way, on the 99”
team. Uh, so. Great show on turf, right. Played for, yeah, played for the ram for four years. So thank you, everyone, for tuning in. We'll see you on Tuesday. We'll see you on Sunday as well for our final PGA tour. Wrap up recap live show of the year. Shout out to our friends at titleist, high noon, Holderness and Born, and of course, BMW. Thanks for having us out. Uh, as we can all support you've given to this podcast for 10 years now. This is our 10th
BMW championship that we've covered 2017 was the, uh, was the first one that we did. So, uh,
“thank you to them for the continued support kind of wild. It clung away farms, right?”
It was a clung away farms. It's exactly right. It's exactly right. Thanks to Cody run the ones in Tuesdays, Matt running our socials. We'll see you back here on Tuesday. Thanks, tune in. Cheers. crack on
