>> The right club, the right club today.
[MUSIC] >> Ready, that's better than most. >> [MUSIC] >> How about you? >> It was better than most.
>> Better than most. >> [MUSIC] >> Expect anything different. >> Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the Notalling of Podcast. My name is DJ joined by my guy,
Solie from what looks like Terminal A at the terminal.
“Terminal C, maybe at the Jack's Airport, where are we at?”
>> Terminal C, of course, because you got dicked out. >> Terminal C, I'm having maybe the toughest American Airlines day I've had. >> Which look, it happens. And once in like six years, this is going to be a very tough one. >> Long yeah, weird, weird day, we are much of a travel in the Netherlands for
the Solheim Cup, we're going to really be able to watch the end of the Walker Cup and get somewhere to be able to record if our flights went as scheduled. >> That did not happen lucky for us. >> We changed plans, did a segment on at this morning. Like, all right, well, the U.S. swept the morning.
Like, let's just, let's do the whole thing now. Like the U.S. is going to win. Now, our re-changing back to do an airport pod. We're at the rest of the podcast here in a few minutes is going to be a pre-recorded thing, but we needed to completely redo the Walker Cup stuff, because that was one of
the great days of viewing we've had in quite some time. >> Yeah, and we are, we're going to get into it. There's a lot, a lot to get into from the Walker Cup at LeHange, but we are brought to you
today, as always, by our friends, at Titleist Number 1 Ball in Golf, and the overwhelming
number 1 Ball at the Walker Cup, 15 players across the U.S. and the G.B. and I teams teed up a ProV1, ProV1 X golf ball, including the top amateur press in Stout, and nine of the top 10 ranked players competing at LeHange, there were also more titleist drivers, more sets of titleist irons, more Vokie wedges, and more Scotty Cameron putters in play this weekend at the Walker Cup than any other brand visit titleist.com to find a fitting near
you. >> What do you see is on the horn, as well, got to be absolutely beaming his G.V. and I squad, got it done at LeHange. >> Are you more excited? Are you more excited about G.B. and I winning, or me getting dick down by American, which one
has you more excited? >> Ah, it's, it's play and tie, Solie, this is just a magical afternoon. >> Well, like Solie said, we kind of, you know, we saw the U.S. sweep the morning, we kind of like, ah, they're going to go run off, and Yada Yada Yada will, we can talk big picture about LeHange and what it means to have the Walker Cup and the Game of Golf wins again.
I don't think we knew how much the Game of Golf was going to win by, because that turned into like one of the best golf watching afternoons of the year.
“I think, I mean, were you guys watching on the way to the air for it?”
What were you, what were you doing? >> I was watching on the flight. >> Yeah, I've been on in delays, I was on on the phone with American for 35 minutes during the most exciting stretch. So, I did have some of it on without sound, which might be an upgrade from note
before trying to tell us what's going on out there, but I mean, it was just like, it was, I'm like, weirdly, I'm pretty detached from the result of this thing. Like, I will not get a mostly upset about the U.S. winning this, losing this, I'm like the writer cup, and it was, it was so surreal to just like watch it. Like you could see the car crash coming from six steps ahead and not feel anything about it,
not be stressed about it. I was like, oh, this is how it happens. Oh, I got to make, all right, they got to get, all right, you got to get this put to the hole, nope, that's short, all right, we got to get this put to the hole, nope, that's short.
All right, well, Miles Russell's got to make this one kind of haven't seen the guy make a big put in all the golf I've watched and play over basically this entire summer. That one didn't go in, all right, well, they got to, they need a miraculous bunker shot from about 45 yards here, get this up and down to actually still, oh my God, they pulled it off. Every time their backstroke against the wall, the odds were not in their favor, it completely
went GB and eyes way in front of an awesome crowd and just an absolutely stoked environment. In the pre-recorded part we did, we just talked about how Stu else six Stu was, Stu had a pretty tough gag there at the end, like really needed that point pretty bad, that ends up costing them the Walker Cup that was, you like it with sports, they're going to completely
flip the expectation on its head and I've never seen the everything app as, as enthusiast
about us at a, about a golf event as they were this one. Yeah, just, I mean, all the above, Sally, when, when Randy and I say we see a path to victory, this is what we're talking about, okay, you just got to believe, and I know the stats,
“the stats don't back it up, but sometimes magic happens, and that's why I play the games.”
Exactly. That's why I didn't play the games, TC. First, GB and I victory since 2015, I've played, hold on, hold on. You were equally comfortable in the whole part, we recorded it up with earlier about the
GB and I loose it.
You did. Oh, I was. I mean, Greenheads are reinstated amateur, that's the, that's the bad whole thing, and, yeah, I mean, but, you know, sports man, sports. If you, if you did not watch a ton of the Walker Cup, GB and I took a one point lead, I
believe into the final day, of course, the Walker Cup is just Saturday and Sunday. It's, it's a for some session in the morning, singles in the afternoon.
They had a one point lead after the first two sessions or after the first day, and then
got absolutely swept first thing this morning in the, the American for somes. It was four matches, four American points, three point lead going into the singles. It is, I mean, it's a massive comeback, but singles, there's fewer singles matches than in the Ryder Cup. It's even harder to flip a three point advantage, there's less points on the board.
It's just a, it's a kind of miraculous victory, and GB and I came out hot right out of the gates, Jack, Jack Waley, absolute drumming of TC's guy Williams, Jenning Brian, eight and seven victory there.
“I think one of the biggest margins of victory, we've seen it a Walker Cup.”
They won the first four matches until Niles Shields Donnigan has his with a keynote,
which was an awesome match. And I do have a stick. Nile may have gotten just a little tidy vicar out, not 16 to part three, and one hop scooter over the green side bunker right to like a perfect spot at it if we didn't that hole. Yeah, you mentioned it's all about Stu Hagastad was, was Chase in trying to flip that one,
strange driver off the deck on 18 from him, kind of put, he was trying to force it up there, trying to, to make a birdie, put himself out of position, was able to, to get a half there. Great put, man, that was such a good put, like I, that had to look so good his eye from about 35 feet.
So like I can't believe you're sitting in the, in the turn of the, where else am I supposed to go?
“We don't have lounges, man, where are we going to go?”
Oh, so tough, so tough, Miles Russell, you kind of mentioned it, saw a couple, a couple good looks coming down the stretch, he had a nasty bunker shot on what was at 15, 14 that almost went in, but man, a couple of pots when he had to have them just kind of low side logs, just like not great looks and ends up having that match with Connor Graham, production kind of slipped there, but we, we needed a most no idea, you know, I don't think you ever
want to hear him say like, which, granted look, it's windy, it's rainy, it's probably not the 18 that's over there, let's get what ends up happening, you know, behind the scenes there, but it's just I felt, I felt for Paul McGinley and, and note as they're just like,
I don't know man, if that's his second shot, that's going to be crazy and it was his
second shot just over the green there at 18 and yeah, Connor Graham playing his third walker cup with just a massive, another massive put to snake half point there at the end and it all comes down to the Josh Hill Tyler Watts match, Tyler Watts blows it, a mile left into some gnarly rough on the 18, it's kind of a clunky second shot, Watts forces up there into the green side bunker and hits just a grotesque bunker shot with the walker
cup on the line leaves himself like three feet hands are shaking the entire country of Ireland seemingly just like certain not Watts, no sorry sorry sorry Josh Hill yes playing against Tyler Watts, Josh Hill hits a green side bunker shot hits it up there to three feet, the whole home crowd just circling that 18th green and he just caches it man and GB and I wins for the first time in what 12 years something like that, which you know we're
talking about this morning selling it's like man why do they keep playing why do they keep playing this match like this why don't they add Europe why is it so lopsides like because sometimes you fucking win man it's sometimes sometimes you get it done and it just means all that much more I'm just I don't know I'm beaming I don't have a whole heck of a tide of this event other than going in 2023 and 2025 and I was just I was completely
“glued to the TV watching that finish day it's that's why you watch golf man that's that's”
pretty much the purest expression of the game I think we've seen this here it just it ruled in Josh Hill last guy on the team yeah like got picked after a scouting trip he just pulled out in the scouting trip and like wasn't unlikely you know that's why that's why you get them on the team right good that's right you gotta I test yeah there's something about the team match play stuff too that just is like it's so much more complicated with two hours to go than like a
stroke play tournament is it's like you're like look at the board and like okay well okay well he's got four holes left and he's two down so they need to flip two of these and you're just like watching all of this cascade and play out there's just so many more variables that makes it like
You could you could in theory pick up a major with like an hour and a half of...
kind of get the the idea of the tournament and you can't really do that with team match play stuff
man it's just totally totally it totally flips the the excitement on a set makes it way more balanced
“and less just about the actual finish because some truly important finishing moments happen”
two hours before the final matches finish how those early matches are decided pressed and stout getting beat twice by by Stuart Graham was you know I mean that's the difference in the blocker cup right then and there number one amateur in the world got beat got beat twice by a 33 year old former problem T.C. side yeah you gotta shout out Luke Polter also when in a singles match yesterday and then stepping up just nails on 17 hits an awesome shot in there it's
just I know it's such an easy comp I know it's so easy I know we're flashing to the shots of
Ian Polter but dude it's really cool it's really cool man of all the people in the world to be like that's that guy's stuff it up would be a killer and like team match play that's sick I'm watching I see blue on the board I'm watching shots coming in and it says Polter on the screen it's a ten-burr and I'm like dude I thought we were done with this I thought I didn't have to
“live this anymore I thought we were over this not so much that's how much you're okay I need to”
get him on the team why not why not I there's something to like this fallen on this weekend with no NFL and like this having the sports day almost to itself and going to a such a cool venue
I mean we we talked about this last year when we went to Cyprus about well you know we say this
every time an event goes to a very cool venue is like venues matter man like that connectivity to the town that like hinge has and the connectivity has to the the people in the support that was felt there on the ground the noise that was made there on the ground the partisan nature of all of that the cool walks between the pubs and the golf course and just having golf feel like connected to a city like Cyprus is a sick venue complete polar opposite vibe in terms of like the
welcoming nature of of the club and and things like that but it it just it gets you really warm and fuzzy about this event and the I don't want to say glow up attack the heater that it's on right now of like the future venues it's going to to like now becoming one of the like like the best TV golf weekends of the year and they had the hours of coverage to match it I mean waking up to this both Saturday and Sunday and having golf on your TV that was super meaningful was just a great
great great cap you know we get the PJ tour seasons over but this was such a bonus now we're riding a soul-hime cup president's cup season it's just a great start to the month of September it's fun too with lunch just because so many people have taken Ireland trips and have played those golf holes I mean Cyprus is is great obviously one of the greatest golf courses on on planet earth not everybody gets to play there you know so you kind of know the holes a little bit
but but there's probably more people watching that are excited to watch because they've played the climb deck or they've played the Dell or they've they've seen some of these holes or at least like a heart to have a buddy that took that trip and is explaining it to him or whatever and it's just I don't know it just yeah venues matter so it's it's it's just awesome to see really high level golf and also kind of a um a college kickers sort of uh sort of element to to this tournament too
it's like yes those guys are nervous those guys are not crazy season professionals they have the top end game over and up it's yeah it's good good score for TC they have the top end game they have the 185 one 90 mile an hour ball speed but they still get really nervous in events like this and that just it makes for captivating TV because I think you can you can twist yourself into and I think we did this after Cyprus you can twist yourself into like ah the results
the results you know yeah the US wins every time and whatever what are you going to do you know it's it's really just about the game of golf and and the kind of it's alumni weekend and it's it's the boys coming over from Oakmont to go watch the next generation and it's like well it is better when it's close you know and when you see it like this it's like how can it it can be a legit TV product you know albeit one probably for the for the real six sickos but I mean we're going to
abandon dunes next time they're going to princess after that Oakmont like there's just it's just going to keep I think keep this run going it's it's a ton of awesome momentum for the one to
“cup at the only thing it needed the only thing it needed was a GB and I victory and we got it today”
against all odds in the most dramatic fashion possible it's just such a dub for everybody maybe we can get Luke Clinton on the squad next time I love it that's what we'll know it's a real
Sport when we start really push it the line of some of these ethical things h...
get them reinstated and then and get them on the team within say seven or eight months after the
“reason just what the water cup is all about to you want to say you want to say more of this”
or really we used to dance up to the light anything else we got more we got more later in the pod on the on the reinstated am part I don't know if you would say that about gray and I did not realize gray and won the British and the summer and that's on me but that was that one was it's like oh God come on guys that's happening I want to shout out that letter I want to shout out Connor Graham last year and he's just a total total bulldog yeah he was nine under today on on eight holes now
granted he didn't make a par on the last ten holes but go to his scorecard he went from nine
on ring when birdie bogey bogey birdie birdie birdie bogey birdie birdie birdie birdie birdie birdie
against mild Russell and in just gnarly rainy windy conditions too which which again I think maybe um it's just top of mind all the PJ tour changes and all of the you know all of the kind of restructuring of the postseason and tour championship and all that but these guys made so many fucking birdies this week at this golf course didn't care at all it was it was so fun to watch in match play it comes a pleasure yeah it was just it bothered me like there's less downside risk
I mean he and like go back to Graham he won the clondike with an eagle the eagle birdie there like
“sick that's why I thought about that of like all right the reason why in stroke play”
super easy golf courses it doesn't do with the actual score it's just kind of like all right over
there like the next 12 holes you should birdie five of them and when you do it and how you do it doesn't really matter and if you don't do it it's probably just a par and it just kind of even's everything out but a match play it's like well the guy you played made a birdie so you better make a birdie or you lost the hole like and it's it's a completely and it can even out to the exact same thing if you if nobody ever wins a hole by more than one shot in that for right but it's just it
gives an immediacy to every like 15 foot birdie part of like this this means you win the hole or you don't versus like yeah mathematically stroke play you're probably not going to make that like well it just it completely flips the excitement well that's where like I think the match by stuff has been viewed to the wrong lens like what if you get a bad final it's like well what if you get a ton of great match play golf on before the final like what it just let's let's find out
let's find out the the birdie fest in stroke play feel like you're watching like one of those World Cup shootouts with no goalie and the match plays like oh now there's a goalie like good now there's like consequence you know it's not just somebody kicking from 20 20 yards away it's it's every actual contest yeah exactly uh who else the most of you guys want to shout out from from the weekend at large I want to shout out Ryder Cowan so fun to watch Ryder's dude he's
he's a he's a red blood of American straight up he was yeah yeah yeah yeah man he is he's magnetic to watch it was really really really fun put me I was saying but like signed me up for watching that guy go win the travelers against like some PJ tour academy types you know it's just like I'm down for that you kind of find out pretty quickly in these like who what you're you know you can have some preconceived notions of guys what you think of of somebody what you what you want
somebody to be and in this event where we don't have a lot of like history with a lot of these guys when they come on the screen quickly it's like well what's what's about to happen what are what are you gonna get every time i flashed count i'm like oh he's gonna make this eight foot of it outside the hole and everything the flesh of miles rustles kind of like I just don't think he's gonna make this i don't and a lot of the US team like i just told that you're gonna make this very
“time flash to count and it was like dude i think i think i i can count on you here and he delivered”
every single time it felt like he came on the screen yeah yeah i think uh him i think gosh i mean i don't know kind of bumps to didn't get a time i know i know man what's if it's six walker cups that i think is like his singles record is like i think he's played nine matches or something and one eight of them before today uh or i guess still you know he's played ten and one eight of them uh he's only lost twice and it's i know he gets he gets a lot of a lot of shit i know
he's kind of an avatar for the uh are these guys amateurs or are they not amateurs i get it man still has to go hit the shots and he still has played really good in these tournaments and he he tends to do it with a smile i saw him behind the scenes uh at Saint Andrews even like
Up close mics on mics off cameras on cameras off same guy just like very earn...
mentor people trying to get him ready for it trying to make sure they get the most out of their
“opportunity and the most out of their experience uh he's got good context on like what it means”
and how guys are gonna view it did you see that US anything this week that like they about him name and all the his past year and then every guy yeah yeah and then like him talking about tying certain guys ties yeah which week we got to do that like go watch if you haven't watched it if you're if you're jones for more walker cups stuff on our youtube channel we did a week in the life with the 2020 three team and being in there for that scenes like one of the most
memorable things we've ever shot where like you do realize very quickly like yeah these guys
like I said they have one 90 ball speed but they also don't know how to tie ties like they're
little kids it's it's crazy to to see it and it's just such a unique event in that regard because you see them playing this crazy high level golf on crazy historic venues just before they've kind of turned into the tour pros that they're all trying to be you know it's such a it's such a cool event and and like I said I'm just I'm just so uh kind of over the moon that they got a result like this because I think it just makes it even more fun when we go to fucking band and do ones
next time like it's just it's gonna be it's gonna be great it's totally they got to play it every year band you know all of the band and it's kind of graduated from hipster status this is a cool event
“that just like no I can't just go if I just watch it right it's not it's not you should”
the coverage has evolved of this one as well I think and this is they were seeing the payoffs too of like going to increasingly good venues and kind of fox's treatment of it wasn't nearly I mean I I think there wasn't there controversy they weren't even airing the European version of this one and so now it's you know we went from seminal to old cores to to the cypress now to to Lahinch and now to band and it's like it um I feel like the interest is starting
is catching up to all of this and it feels like uh there's just a very genuine genuine buzz about it so congrats to everyone involved it's good for the professional ecosystem right and you want to totally make names of these guys and you know like PG and Toru for all it's good stuff like there's there's not a lot of times that you can actually watch these guys play college golf other than the NCAA championships and maybe you know the the western and collegiate and a
couple others um but this is like I've reached out the context for these golf courses and everything
“I think Hoi Lake was the one that that Fox didn't did. Yeah yeah but um I don't know what to”
think about pressed and stout I've heard so much about just how freaking good this guy is he's world number one amateur and all that and I'm not loving the pace of play at all he's exceptionally slow and yeah just you know didn't you just got got beat so full times this week he's either producers are going to have to do him a favor and show his shots on tape what you got to play really good golf to be shown live anyways and not shown on tape so he's got to be a little bit
a little bit better than that to begin with but that's it the I mean I feel like I could hear my own pulse in my ears with a silence that was just like you know I should say what they had already you were ready to say before you'd hit and then it would just be a dead ass silence like 12 seconds before he pulled the trigger and man that is golf fans we have learned what that is not going to go over well like that's really really really not going to go over well with people and you got to
get that figured out before you get to the big leagues yeah I I like it doesn't happen all the time but it is you know put your your reinstated am stuff uh to decide it is fun when the same the same dude's get matched up over and over I mean press and stop played playster green and every session
this week they have the first four ball match green beat them one up in Saturday singles
stout and Ethan Fang won the four ball matches morning and then green beat them again in singles this afternoon so it's just that's kind of a fun wrinkle with these of us a little bum to see my guy Ryder Cowan have to take a seat for singles on Saturday yeah little strain yeah I'm sure there's a reason I don't follow it closely enough to know what it would be but yeah that was a little weird probably to get to the CMA awards or something like that it might have maybe wasn't his contract
he's not only doing a 90 minute set well what do you think guys should we should we wrap it there move to the rest yeah yeah yeah I would say congrats to the USDA and RNA for putting on another great event speaking of the USDA you can experience all four rounds of the 20 27 US open with a limited time championship round ticket package you can enjoy one ticket for each

how much more lively as voices before he was just so sucked out of his body all right but on the this seems like a while ago of course now as we will as it tends to happen as we record
this on on a Sunday but presidents got the team USA finalized team USA and the international
excuse me finalized their captains picks are the upcoming presidents cup the captains picks include on the u.s. side Chris got her up just in Thomas Patrick can't lay zander softly jake abridgment jackson coivin tc of those six picks what stands out the most what's the most news were the item of those six Chris got her social social media I said this to you guys the other day got to celebrate the future to a ripping every piece of copyrighted material that's ever been
produced and just putting it into into their produced players social media posted and also movies songs anything you've and that's ever been copyrighted we will rip that off give it to our players very useful if you if you take a still of one photo of ours we're going to
put you in the fucking haig is just a good yeah it's a good vibe but yes I'm with the tc's do an amazing
things on social media DJ we are actually going to the haig leaders week we're going to try
“I think most people I was in my mind yeah yeah I'm going to get some of our our old post back man”
try to try to break them out I'm going to scope out a place for Nick Crawl at the haig this video I think so for the uninitiated that that's the reds general manager for president bit of business operations yeah we're going this early as of now he's the the gym. Any update on that Twitter account that people thought was him? I actually yeah I do that was actually not only yeah it turns out I might know the guy that is running it's really so yeah yeah people
thought he had a burner and he was like defending himself on Twitter it gets bad it's like I was going to say bad moves but no moves at the deadline I guess we don't really probably have to get to get to keep it to it but it was pretty well to create to create a burner that look I create an account a parody account that like looks like a burner like all the re-levels do yeah it's great as a really good move really good move I have some ideas if we want to get Crawl fired I have
some other ideas so no I think I mean I was glad to see him pick pick coven I think Bridgeman I like the Bridgeman pick personally like I think Gerard and Bridgeman should have been on the
“team personally I don't think you need to bring can't lay along like you know what you're”
getting I don't think he's undeserving but at the same time like I don't think the president's cup is is you know the most serious event in golf like let's put some let's put some some some some money in the bank here for for a future thing I mean maybe Gerard turns out to be an absolute dog right and you know that and that's one more asset you have at your disposal so yeah I could a left JT or or can't lay at home but JT feels like kind of the heart and soul of these teams so
feel like you bring him along you know he he'll be you know kind of ready to rock and yeah coven it seems like you know I'm proud of proud of snids I did it man taking his neck out of a little bit they did it we've rocked up yeah it's it's a fun one it feels like it feels like there's some balance to it you know it's like we did actually push the envelope not in the way that you know it's like politics right T.C. you got to you got to just push it as far as you can
one direction and then hope that you just kind of land a little bit on your side of the ball that's kind of it's kind of where it we're wound up here is like yeah of course we listen we can't break the system we are going to take JT and KLA but we can we can branch out we could take coven we could take a great potter like bridgemen you know we're not taking Gerard and Okshay and all these other guys too but like we can we can have a little bit of fun and it feels like yeah in the past maybe
“this this it would just look safer and older and I think snids is I don't know I don't know if”
there seems like there's so much uncertainty on the rider cup side of things I don't know if he
Is that point being who knows who a future captain is going to be who a futur...
type figure could be like I don't I'm sure he's angling for something like that he can't just
blow up the the job interview by doing something totally outrageous but he can push it a little bit I kind of think the bridgemen thing Solie is like we started looking at like a tiebreaker bridgemen and Gerard I assume it was kind of the the last coin flip I mean that just seems like it probably comes back to matchups or pairings or or something right like it just doesn't feel it feels like Gerard stronger on paper more of a traditional like in years past we would have taken this
guy because he's kind of hot right now whereas bridgemen is yeah it just seems like more you was picked for traits or picked for kind of a reason I don't know if that's your read. Yeah this is the you know the kind of awkward period before we see what the plan roll out is
“where you got to kind of I don't know do you have to do this because I've tricked myself and”
do as you have to assume they have a plan you have to give respect to the process and have to think they thought through how they want to pair them and what attributes he has that match up with the golf course and things of that nature so again I I'm going to do that I'm going to say like yeah you probably thought about this to a level of detail that we have the public and an access information that we of the public don't have down to you know how to hopefully how team Europe is
doing it what your proximity is to left pins versus right pins and dog leg left holes and dog leg right holes and what holes would be ting off on for some what how you match up and for ball what holes are you good at how can we match you up with somebody who's got a different skill set if you're a really good par four player maybe we match up with somebody who's a great par five player wait are you saying that they weren't doing this before maybe not now I'm willing to I'm willing to
introduce a new share of the town of stats well stats well as yeah I'm willing to entertain the thought that they is Jay Ray working with a presence cup team too I don't he is he is he is he's okay and he's doing soul time cup as a busy month yeah it's been it also as you're as you're saying all that and you're running through all the past U.S. things it also could be a like yeah listen these guys just made more pots we need to have bridge but other to you just say that of like
it'll actually if I just be that you have a little say right how to just bridge my mind get bridge we got to get bridge mid got makes all the pun like he finished the season pretty strong
“I think he was he was top five and he's like he like he played pretty well at BMW he's also”
first on tour in par four birdie average which I think feels pretty pretty useful yep
and that's a big one in this sort of format so I think that that's kind of jumping off the page but yeah I don't I mean even like I think it's gonna be the kind of course where it's gonna be fun to watch JT play it I know they've got three rookies on the team as it is with got her up bridge man coven coven should be a great fit for this this place as well but man like looking at JT's results like hasn't had a top 10 since the PGA is kind of like hey like you know what like why are you
why don't you be an ass captain with us this year you're still in the team room let's let's get Gerard on I feel like Gerard played his way on the team and that's that's the one kind of sour taste in my mouth I guess I don't I don't either I mean the what the default thing here ten three and two in presidents cups and and a solid rider cup record that that's the answer totally so that's to why right and it it it is boring yeah at this point it's like I wrote really
hard for him in 2023 when it was like do there's not a path without that guy right I don't see what it is he is your match play dog he went head to head with Rory in France like we we've seen what he did he was like the dude in France on a way rider cup and I want and I don't know
“how you go back to room without that guy I think they would have should have not paired on the”
speed who had just had a kid and played absolutely awful in that rider cup and they were a terrible terrible team and that could have gone to JJ didn't play well either but that could have gone differently and now it's like all right we're looking at three three issues a little a nice little stretch in one of those years where a nice spring one heritage but he just hasn't been the same dude like really hasn't to the point where I'm like you could have I did not know what they were
gonna do and I wouldn't I don't care enough about the presence cup to truly ride one way or another I would have been fine with flesh fresh blood and I think in a different year that could have happened honestly I'd done Gerard played good enough to justify a pick he didn't beat the door down to the point where it's like how the hell are you not taking this guy he beat the door down pretty good I mean in any he's he's over in Switzerland this week play and now guy just wants to play
me finish third of the torque championship he was top 10 at the open he was he lost in a playoff
At the memorial I mean he had a hell of a year he had a great year he had an ...
I mean last four events missed the cut at Windham T24 in a 70 person event at St. Jude T16 and
“50 person third at Torchampion like that's good golf that's a good add final round at the Torchampion”
yeah it's good golf but it is not like like Horschel sprinting through the door in 2014 and not getting it you know it being too late to get a rider cup pick like it's not it's just not that level right so it's seven top 10s I'm aware he played he played good he's good I want to take I would have loved him on the team I probably on the surface would have taken him over bridgeman but you got to make those pots man you got to make those pots and then I say I'll do this so you
don't you don't have to first of all I think there's a big difference between Kantley and JT I think
it's it's gonna be very easy to lump those two together when you look at these captain's picks Kantley's played a lot better a lot better than JT I think he's the security blanket for Zander you know what you're gonna get just probably like an extremely high floor with him when you do start looking at this stroke's gain stuff over the last six months JT plus 1.11 bridgeman plus 1.12 Gerard plus 1.17 and it's kind of like they've all kind of been about about the same
“as far as just like getting the ball in the hole golf wise so if you want to use the whatever you”
said 1031 as a JT tiebreaker I'm like I do I do get it's just it's a gut it's a gut call I guess
I'm like do you want to do you want to use that as as the tiebreaker do you want to try to
invest in new blood when you're already kind of doing that you know with you've got gotter up you've got you've got coiven you've got some of these other guys it's I understand I understand both sides I see see how they got there see and I would have been fine with Gerard thing so it's it's kind of a I don't know here's the twist here's the twist here's the twist on that like investing the future line the investment the future might be JT like if you had to bet between the two who is more likely to be
at a dare manner on the team like the answer's probably JT for a variety of reasons and like
“him being involved in the process right I mean the hottest player in the world for for a year of course”
of course if you had if you had to bet right now who's more likely to be on the team and you're making a face to each but like who's more likely to be on the team at a dare manner I don't know yeah you're right I just the yeah I don't think that's a lot of cliffs man I don't know if JT is going to be that but it doesn't last forever and Gerard could too is my point like it's it's an odd year and you know it's an even year now next year's an odd year and like watch I look out how far
Cameron Young fell by the end of this year like it just it doesn't last forever he's he's playing very good golf and getting an absolute ton out of his career and I'm definitely rooting for Gerard but it's not which it's not really interesting roll it back up roll it back out next year we'll see I mean maybe JT has a little bounce back like I feel better about JT bounce back than I do speed at this point like I'm not going to make that speech right now but I sure got speed would have
been so good at it I'm a dyna I'm not just the hectic golf so I'm looking at the standings and I a couple things stick out there a like can't lay probably the best like one of the top three iron players in the world statistically like he sees a really good fit for this with regard to a approach play he he can't pot anymore which is kind of crazy I'm liking the fact that they didn't just go straight down the rankings like Ben Griffin was eighth JJ spawn was tenth and they
skipped right over those guys it's also weird that like Gerard is not even in the top 15 as far as the standings go yeah which doesn't seem like it like it is it not weighted more towards
recent results or twenty twenty six results it's always just moved out FedEx cup point to smooth
thing yeah it's horrible like that yeah I hate the pointless all everywhere like it it just is bad like you just don't it's not identifying the best golfers at least it's at least it's at least it's six captains picks now like it would take a lot for somebody to qualify that that is should it like that shouldn't be there right but it's not impossible like they almost had it happened with Griffin and and hopefully that's the wake up call they need to get this system right
because it's it's don't love it which I mean and then another thing is is should Zander be on the team yeah I think so yeah and then great year anyone that like has been a top 12 US player
Over last three months six months 12 months 24 months has made a very strong ...
team right it's not just a trending hand just be and we can do this with players that have had
“better peaks you know when they're not playing their best say should they even beat like you know”
it's a it's a sexy name when they're not playing their best but they're still like a much better player than a lot of other guys but yeah Zander's been he's like the tenth best American over the
last three months he's the sixth best American over the last six months he's the second best
American over the last year yeah I can't wait he's gonna be on the team then you have like that one's that one's an index fund man he just kind of yeah all that one out there and get your get your 7% to be ready set up a special part of the team room for that so yeah they're gonna be up in the little little minaret of the exact diner yeah which by the way Salina talked to cocking Mike cocking who who who who is the future and uh you know the future might be now as well
and gosh I am ant up for it's gonna be such a good venue stoked yeah that that podcast will be out um the to the fifth around the 15th I think is the Tuesday short the whatever the next Tuesday is after the soul on cup we will have an interview with Mike cocking talking through Medina and yeah
it'll get it'll get pretty amp for this event we could have done four hours with them I feel like
we just scratched the surface now and I'm I'm saying that I'm excited for the president's cup before
“we get to talking about the international team because it gets pre bleak if you want to go there now”
yeah I mean super quickly I'm the coven thing I think it is um I'm just glad to see it it's an obvious I think it's a pretty obvious play and yes it is it is throwing strokes gained out the window it is throwing record out the window but it is recognition of talent it is recognition that yeah you only played a few months here on the page it tore you won an event you have a absolutely sterling amateur record that we're counting here
and like that I would have to think there has to be some pretty serious buy-in from the players on this part to the point that gets me even more excited of like I would have to think some guys are in medzi I'm sure you ask some players about it like what do you think of coven what do you think of this and like there's some game-recognized game elements here of like let's get this guy on the team that is um it's exciting it's exciting and I think it's it's
it's gonna be an interesting thing to find out right and it's he's gonna be a huge huge moment for him I think watching the walker cup last year was like a you know we I think we talked about it on the on the pod last year like is he gonna be on the presence cup at this team at this time next year and here we go so that's got me got me super stoked and for an entertainment event like well done everyone involved PJ tour team USA like good good good job this is a little
“being the party like you did a good job you should obviously have taken this guy but that's not always”
been the case and so this was good I think this is gonna be the last team event that doesn't have Patrick read on it for for next five or six years so international here's your best chance they should have given p to the international team with his international schedule I think that would have been a nice all of the branch but he was yeah so I think it was a pretty well positioned there in Switzerland they made a double the eighth hole or five this morning not good
so but last thing I'll say is that this becomes like a a common thing we'll say is like let's get these guys in get them experience for future rider cups but like I did did do a little
finally did a little research on it's I've been threatening to do this for quite some time did
finally do a little research to say like that's not that that's not how things work like rookies at least on the US side in the rider cup going back to the early 90s rookies are the only class of player on the US side that has a winning percentage of 50% every other you like it goes from 52% win rate as a rookie to 46 as a second rider cup 44 as a third rider cup 40 as a fourth rider cup and then five or more they have a 44% win percentage so there's like no there's no evidence to say like
what's the sort of that experience I mean there's so much noise in that though it could mean that like they're picking the wrong veterans time after time they're right but rookies in better position to succeed either more cognizant of that but thought to say like the it and I did this now this is a couple years ago too it's like the younger you are too age-wise there's a no-douter of like it's like the rider cups a young man's game like the younger you are the much better
record you're gonna have circle back to some of that with JT and Gerard are we just sell high on JT how old is Gerard? 27 like that's that's prime I'm just looking I don't know look it doesn't last it doesn't last forever I I do know but like Gerard skill set is man it's really good
It's what you're looking for he hits it far and he hits it he makes a bunch o...
of I don't know if JT's skill set is like aging all that great love JT no like JT and Gerard's a
“good team room guy too seems like it it's just it's it's interesting I think that JT versus Gerard”
2027 thing is not it sounds clear cut is is it my team on paper I got away I know as we transition into the uh the international side here D.C. I got away to make this go go a little smoother I know it's 845 but this episode is brought to you by our friends at Locke Loman Whiskey's the official spirit of the open and the proud Scotch Whiskey partner of no-lang up we took a trip this past spring to Northwest England we learned about Locke Loman's history of partnership with the open
and its signature fruit honey and soft smoke profile that has led the tasting awards around the world it's the perfect time to discover Locke Loman's award winning single malt whiskeys if you're lucky enough to attend next year's open championship as well you will find Locke Loman whiskeys at St Andrews you'll find us there as well if you're watching at home like the rest of us either the open or any kind of golf you can learn more at Locke Loman Whiskey's dot com or ask for
Locke Loman at your preferred spirit's retailer it's that soft smoke sorry you got that smoke all right on the international side the captain's picks are Corey Connors Niko etch of Maria Sungjai in Rio he's at Sunay Nick Taylor and Christian Bazaed note T.C. your response you're response gosh it's tough I don't know who else we're gonna pick for being honest I'm sure there's some
Keeda Nakajima I'm sure there's South Africans that I've never heard of that we could maybe
splash around with pock eater kind of a surprise the big the big I was I sawceles triangle skill distribution yeah he's got one of those star track look at skill distribution
“plots lot heavily favored towards the driving distance. That's what we were up proper player right there”
yeah how did that guy win we kept saying this we were there but he won the he won the amit rhythm he went at rhythm that was a single handedly seeing him on that wall I was like all right this guy must be a much better player than I thought for you know a while now and then he watched a player like maybe I mean Jake J.D. is clearly not healthy I don't know what to say about Casey Jarvis
I feel like our guys who darshan just totally spit the bit the second half of the year
I think what you start throwing him out is as a snub I'm like I don't know man the one that I I'm sure it's like he's a good putter and he's pretty easy to team up with people as best but it's just hard for me to get excited about Trott and Trott and Bez back out there there's not as best year bad did not did not make the playoffs yeah it I don't know how to how to comment on this without comment on the presence cup as a whole
like what do you which I think I would say everything counter to what I said about the walker cup right or I'm like I don't think anybody's going there if just like I cannot wait to celebrate the tradition and heritage of the president's cup in the same way that we do the walker cup
“I'm like this is made for TV this is a fake juice event you should you should try to make this thing”
as close as possible to keep it relevant and without that it starts to it starts to trend towards pretty bleak scenes granted I'm with you T.C. I'm very excited about Medina I think the golf course is going to be very fun to watch no matter what should let Ogil be set it up they should they should might might need them to play it's some point but the end Trevor yeah give him give him key you can do I don't I don't I don't think you know we don't get captains matches now it's going to
be on T.M. USA for sure yeah yeah I'm gonna let you try the sneds didn't pick himself he wanted to interact with you and win this you can't let it win this year you know good boy it's a good boy yeah I don't know it's not you guys might know more about the golf course from your your conversation with Mike but it's it's not long it's a there's some quirk there's some weirdness I mean I think that's kind of the best case you can make for for it being close for them kind of
staying in it is like maybe you kind of throw some sand in the eyes and you make some quirky holes and yeah and you kind of make it a little bit of a not a luck contest but you just add more variables to to kind of some some strange golf holes but man it's it's a it's a task that they got that
They got in front of them I feel like they should I so I'm a little bit stoke...
Sungjae's found some form the last couple months I don't know seems to be seeing Wu playing great golf
yeah uh the weekend the weekend's a fun pick I love that uh and I feel like especially since it starts on Thursday right you get Thursday at Friday instead of just Friday you get two maybe two
“rounds of the weekend flight at well I think maybe they should have said hey we're going to bring 20 guys”
and we're going to let and we're going to let 12 of these guys play off for the last you know maybe four spots last chance kitchen yeah yeah I like that it's interesting if you go and sort just by if you take both teams and take a look at their strokes game over the last six months here's how the chart shakes out but between both teams number one player is American number two players American number three players American number four players American number five players
American number six players American what's the seven players America though number eight players American number nine is see Wu Kim number ten is American number 11 is American that wasn't picked number 12 is an American that wasn't picked number 13's an American number 14's an American there wasn't eligible number 15 is an international player who is not eligible number 16 is Hedeki Matsuyama number 17 is Ryan Gerard who is not picked number 18 is Adam Scott so three
international player three international players at the top like 25 before you get to Tom Kimman and Wu Lee which listen strokes game does not decide it necessarily this is match play it is going to be
“different but man it's just like it's hard to live live really like I think it's a great opportunity”
for the U.S. to win like 22 to six whatever it's going to be and to the same I don't know
exaggerating to to make this point and roll out have roll out that be roll out first president's
cup to say like we got a drastically reimagined this event like not tweak it like it needs to be drastically reimagined because like right now it's kind of like I don't know it's kind of how I set up some of these fantasy leagues we play and it's like all right I'll run the show and I'm going to beat your guys ass is really really badly and just we're going to go around the world and do that and it just it's not right like it's just not it's just me I was just making
chair I'm up 113 again this week I'm having one of the foremost two-week runs but this is going to be like to make 25 to to five over my last two weeks yeah we'll take that where you can that'll be on my channel I mean solid how many guys how many guys would you have put on the team from live for the international's yeah I can like is a good course for cam walking uh Lucas reverse yeah mean Dean Burmester might have been a consideration leash might have
been consideration like if you could get the rhino job and in all the southern guards fans and on it's you like the southern guards fans as they're direct as they're due to the fanatics fanatics fanatics fanatics fanatics fanatics fanatics fanatics fanatics fanatics co-lab might be what this event needs but we we did a big research project like the origin of the president's cup looking back at the 90s and this event was hastily stood up because I am jeeps getting ready to
put their own international event up DJ tour rush this like basically like rushed it from
my January of the same year to like that year they're playing in the father playing but it made sense with like urnie hells and vj and like massive international non-European or american stars that like didn't have a place to do this and like just not the way the game of golf has trended and some of the top players that did that have left the pj tour and it's a hard thing to clear anyways like not everyone from outside of Europe in the u.s. plays the majority of their golf
in the u.s. and on the pj tour and it just it was a little bit decent idea for the 90s but a little doomed from the start uh and it's it's it's it's beyond time to reimagine of course we know that but it's just funny man to to lay these two in relief but going back to the walker cup it's like oh man in the 20s all these americans have to take a steam ship over to try to qualify for the open and they've got days before the tournament starts and what if we played a match against
each other in the fellowship of the game versus just like well fuck we got a beat i have g to the corner of it we got it we got to do it we got to get this thing stood up i don't know u.s. versus the rest of the world wow we can't throw your well u.s. versus the rest of the world except for Europe
“i think people really grab onto that that'll be a that'll be a good rallying cry they just doesn't”
just doesn't make sense I'm just going I'm going down the list here of like riko hoi koda koneko
How tongue lee he need to do plus is uh do plus c excuse me um does riko not ...
u.s. flag i thought it was just Philippines oh did you know you know Michael hollock the golf hollock all these guys like there's just so many miss cuts it's incredible how many cuts these guys have
“missed in the last three months i will say if you want to episode 902 is our old presence cup”
origin deep dive uh if you're if you're so inclined so sorry DC nope no pendo on the team i know that had to i had to make it happen yeah yeah i'd like two Canadians McKenzie who's just fallen off a cliff um nick Taylor gets it gets it gets it gets it done i don't know just look at this I feel like Nick Taylor and uh Cory Connor's are like complete opposite of one
others for like Cory Connor's gets a sniff and never gets it done yes uh you know now that
now that Tommy's gotten it done before yeah Tommy was trending towards that Cory Connor's career thing i mean Cory Connor's might be you know a poor man's Tommy right the u.s. is minus 400 i believe to win house i was gonna say like i tried to like get
“gather some people ahead of the one that put a fund together i think i think i said this and”
it doesn't mean anything because i didn't actually do it but like i think i said i'd be willing to bet $10,000 on the u.s to win it quail haul and when i bet i bet literally $20 like a game i think i said i would bet and they almost kind of lost that one that was a little closer uh that i think
we wanted but like i feel i would feel the exact same of like i i feel like i could it if they
lost it back okay that was just definitely not meant to be uh but i could i could bet $10,000 to win to win whatever that would be $22,000 that the u.s will win this one i'm even looking at like a.v. answer a.v. answer is like zero like you don't just like eat it i don't know what's covered next but it's been i don't ride i don't think he cares about golf at all yeah he's really well in the live events too he's got how about how about meet up he does him off and roll
him out there that's interesting that's interesting oh oh present yeah it's not good moving on very do you want to do a like you said reimagine it do you want to do any like what should it be or you're going to say 90% of the week of i think i i think we know it's it's crossover with the women would we all see it we all see it we all see it yeah yeah yeah which it's not training i get's not good that soulheim is back on president's cup cycle that's not a a great
thing for that possibility what if they did like an international crown style thing you you basically
bring back like the the world cup of golf kind of thing and you do the you know let's say you get three or four guys you know let's see it well i mean i guess that's kind of what the Olympics is a
“little bit but it's kind of just like for what you know that's what is that tell us which i also think”
i would act like what is this event tell us oh cool u_s_ golf is way stronger than the world except you're up in the lake let's say you had three guys instead of you know let's say it's co-ed yeah i think you have a hard time convincing the top american players would play that you know it's not like i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know you know yeah i don't know you're a bitch oh no t_c_ said i'm a bitch i'm a good spirit when you get on with my family i think that's not
over it's moving on some quick hits i'm ready to t_c_'s island trip and then some things were looking forward to the rest of the year tiger had his court date this week it has uh it has been ruled that he will lose his license for five years we are gonna at least for a five year period we're gonna get what we've asked for for a long time tiger would should not be behind the wheel uh of cars and that will be by law the case uh from now going forward so not a fun
development but i think overall good development for those of us that uh would like to see tiger stick around with us for quite some time i think they should have said ten years give us ten five more of your view it in five years you know it's all wrong to say it says he he is allowed to drive a golf cart on the course i think that's fair i think that's fair yeah just i don't think there's any number of years that's that's too uh too many here i think
i think we've got some pretty good proof of of what's going on behind the wheel i got i got no issues here take it away hundred percent uh cold nosed went to the everything app uh with an update
From the u_s_g_a_ on his amateur status that said hello cold i'm writing with...
application for re-institement of your amateur status the u_s_g_a_ has recently decided to re-evaluate its re-institement guidelines for applicants who like you have a successful history competing as a professional questions regarding how the guidelines should apply in these circumstances have contributed to earlier delays in reaching a decision on your application and your application is now formally been placed on hold while staff works with the u_s_g_a_ amateur status committee
and executive committee to complete its work goes on from there but
hell yeah changing in the process is finally going to appear to happen uh which will be the
delight of many including those of us uh here as well hell yeah i think i hope we're going
“back retroactively and pulling some status from people for sure maybe i think you have to right”
yeah you know it's i i yeah i i think this one got away from from the u_s_g_a_ kind of a a little bit at a time and then sort of all at once as as people realize they could they could get back and play some of these events but yeah it's it's a boring answer but it's like man i don't don't fault any of the people doing it we've said this with u_g_a_ a bunch of times right or it's like yeah and if you're not going to close it i i understand why they're
why they're doing it but yeah for a rule that i think as i understand was kind of put in there
to help almost more like p_j_ professional type of people hey you you turned pro and worked in a golf shop for a couple years and now you want to get back and play your state i am or whatever i'm like that's just very different than i had sponsors and made a career as a as a tour player is uh yeah it's just kind of silly so i'm sure it's messy players yeah i'm sure it's messy to unwind it and figure out where the line is but i i think that's kind of what the job is of the u_s_g_a_ so
excited to see them hopefully take it some steps here what should the line be though like that's where it's it's difficult to draw it it's like you know i know i know but it is uh i mean like
Mike Sposa won the u_s_ senior am this week i think he made something in the 300s if and
career starts on p_j_a_ related tours uh oops uh yeah like there's a few just like awful examples uh out there but like i found this i say this just got johnny v golf on instagram came on my uh my algorithm he it's he kind of said like every each top 500 in the world you're out like you're you can not become an amateur again i think that's pretty decent guideline if you play professionally in a p_j_tor sanctioned or affiliated event as a professional and made the cut because
“you made a cut in a p_j_tor event like you should not get your get your p_j_tor sanctioned so like”
p_j_tor america's would be the being included there yeah okay which is like aggressive but it's like well if you i think amateur golfers for people that did not dedicate their profession to the game and skill of golf like you did you you're doing something else and playing golf hagistab had be a different conversation but like if you if you if you spent any amount of i mean i get it like if you spent two weeks being a professional and fail that's a different
if you spent if you were a steward grayhand who spent seven years trying to make it like you was seven years dedicated to his craft that is not afforded to true and they were trying to say like this guy's a financial planner now and i don't know how he finds the time to practice and it's like come on well because he practice it for seven years like there's deterioration of your skills for sure great promises waiting on this this week of like yeah you you're not going to be as
sharp as you were when you were pro but you also have a incredibly massive advantage to compare to not as good as i thought it was yeah right and good one is a good point where people just look at it too and it's like a former pro wanted and it just is like truly ruining some of these events i think it's like what do you think about if you said all right you know what if you stop being a pro by the time you're 30 you can reset for the senior am stuff otherwise you are out of mid-am
“and you're out of am and you're stuff i could i could see that maybe if like if you want to”
major in your 20s maybe not but you know like it uh i i see where you're at of like yeah a true like wearing on the back but going through like should cult knows be able to be a senior am you think probably not yeah i had it yeah it's hard man he started like getting in specifics and it's like well that's that's kind of the job of the u_s_j_a_ not me who's been sitting here thinking about it for 30 seconds but it's sure i do think conceptually it's talking to Randy and Neil about this a lot
while we're uh film this week and Randy has a very good point on this that it's like man there there does need to be some gravity to the i'm turning pro decision you know like this is one of those
Consequences like you don't get to kind of have it both ways like if you want...
that's awesome pro golf is a it unbelievably like cool thing to chase and a fulfilling thing to
chase if you can if you can do it but this is a break in the road yeah this is kind of there needs to be something that's like this is what you're given up and where the you know cow gets out of barn on a lot of this other stuff is like n_i_l_ things and what's the difference between a college player who's making 600 grand and endorsements quote unquote playing amateur god like it it does become a huge claustrophac when you start drilling into the details but it's again
that's i'm like man that's kind of the point of of having a governing body is to to make those decisions and draw those lines and figure out what's what so yeah someone just
kind of figured out it does but i'd say like to that like you if your college player earning hundreds of
thousand dollars playing college golf like you do graduate from that and you have a decision to make I do I want to continue to use my golf skill to make money then I got to have to turn professionally like I don't think that you're going to make enough money doing like the mid-am cocktail tour from sponsorships like the n_i_l_ stuff runs out and you know if you can good for you and that's that's a way to do it if you really want to but it seems like if you go from college to pursuing
playing amateur events and taking up sponsorship dollars to do that it can make enough money do it on my guy hats off to you like that's different than like beating and playing weekends on the p_j_ with the best professional golfers in the world that's a big ass difference to me like the way stew is done it is technically allowed like I know you know maybe not only allowed people have been doing it for a very very very long time right like not many people but uh a few people have
“been doing that for a while so that's that's what i think but um also i can't break party more so this doesn't”
really plot a lot of me anymore so um harbor town harbor town gets the uh championship status event from r_b_c_ as some questions being asked of course about uh Canada t_c_ and he thoughts on this yeah i think it's i think Canada would be best serve being a fall event where they could they could be true national open they could have but like i think if Canada was a championship series event they're going to have to play it during the summer when it's soft and it's not and i think the
best conditions up there in September so i think if you added this into like a ship making a freaking d_p_ world tour event or a you know part of that kind of national open series where you got irish open and you do Canadian open and maybe you throw Spanish open or gosh do like Argentina open and there you know just to have it be like the national open sweepstakes uh you play in September and yeah i don't know it just feels like a more natural fit than then saying hey you know
what no can it like only two Canadian players are going to be able to play in this because there's really two Canadian guys in the championship series right yeah totally great yep i yeah and that's very
“I'm glad you know i think harbour town harbour town gets championship status i assume they'll”
keep it after the masters i don't know if that's necessarily the best place for it especially if there's other stuff going on in and around the southeast as well but um i imagine that i'll just kind of continue forward on that current slot you know i would think so as well you like this one Ryan O'Toole uh is pregnant LPJ tour player is pregnant but also leading the a on risk reward challenge standings uh it is shutting it down for the rest of the season because she's already got
enough qualifying rounds to come to the one million dollar prize winning the a on uh risk of
more challenge for the year so she will be winning that she's all just she played enough qualifying rounds she's good uh and we'll get the prize don't hit the player here don't hit the player hate to the game yeah unless somebody goes absolutely nuts and you know joins joins the brotherhood of the sisterhood and makes it a song what if they do try and funnel pens to make sure she does it
“win like i always get such a kick i feel this happens every few years and i think the”
million dollars is a much bigger deal in the women's game than it is in the men's game from a from an incentive perspective but uh but yeah it's just a funny like Bethan had this this on golf week and uh Ryan said uh the a on puts a halt in my future play having enough qualifying rounds and sitting at the top i feel i should just now just sit on the lead and hope no one catches it as much as i want to compete and continue playing i'm only getting more pregnant uh you know and
like one of the events is in Hawaii the other one there's a few in ages obviously she's not gonna hop on a plane and you know travel all the way over for that but i just i love perverse and
Incentives it's so funny uh speaking of perverse incentives uh we have been h...
to buy a bunch of bots and we uh uh and the no language i just want to thank you everyone for reaching out for congratulating us for passing five million followers uh on solix series i mean congrats thank you it's a lot of your comment for me yeah a lot of work especially a lot of work has gone and recently uh when you know we we just passed 500 thousand back i think in March and now we're at five nights just crazy support from the community really how much you buy in these followers for
it's really expensive i'm surprised we're in the hasn't flagged the the expice yet so i was trying to put 10 g's down on the president's cup i would love an answer from x as to why this has happened
and how this has happened like it because if the answer is like some live bot bot followers for us
“uh just a sick prank it's very it is a sick prank if that's what happened if that is the case i want to”
know yeah i want to know who did this because uh yeah for anyone that thinks that we would ever do that like it is is completely ruined what was like a very natural organic following like we every every media company does this like you put your following numbers in your media decks to show your reach and things like that and we had a very real number of like almost half a million people and now it's like what about what the hell we put there now like how do you estimate how
many real actual followers it's a it's uh it's it's uh it's not a good thing and so we've uh but yeah thank you everyone there's still not getting the joke on that one um and things that that we've that we fake this but some right right people out there what's the i mean what's the next goal
“now that we've reached this mount up a hundred million i think a hundred yeah i think we have really”
gotta get your ass to work on on on on the gram yeah i would have never said a couple people i
would like to congratulate for not spending too much time on there because they did earnestly text me like oh congrats on five million it's awesome for you guys like oh no no it's not real it's not real it's not real it's not real funny in that like i feel like you particularly like all of us would you spend less time than ever on x-cocking app like for sure yeah just a necessary evil during during big weeks i think exactly that's exactly right so it's like everything's everything's
going really good over there really well done tc you took a little island golf trip uh it did in recent months uh yeah take us yeah yeah yeah i was some buddies that spot opened up on
a trip some buddies here from ponavidra we're taking first golf ship i've been on and like
eight or nine years that i have a plan to myself which was really really nice and it was pretty much the same it very similar i'd turn around what we did when we went in 2019 uh to Ireland so we did we didn't do corn and it's crone slido but we did or a dare but we did uh we did truly our got truly johnson we did truly um it had dune bag we did valley bunion dukes waterville you know that that whole kind of tourist track yeah based ourselves down in Colarnie said
“the great southern which i think we stayed at last time i had no recollection of a great hotel”
a wonderful hotel but the surprise we were supposed to do a hinge we ended up scratching that something guys didn't want to play off mats and advance to the walk we were there like two or three weeks before the walk a cup so uh we did not do old head again i apologize again everyone had we did not do old head again like you see the the uh the hogs head helicopter you know kind of depositing people in various places all over uh we had to mix a handy capsule
helliskey it out of the old uh you know about four handy caps about a 16 handy caps a pretty wide dispersion biggest surprise the trip we were supposed to play there last time that freaking hurricane rolled in counterbell tingle golf links uh i loved it it was awesome it doesn't look like much when you're driving up it's it's kind of sits in this saddle between these peaks and it was everything i love about links golf and the like quirky routing and inventive fun holes
fine fescue that was like burned out and fast and bouncy like brilliant playing surfaces like best condition course we played on the entire trip and probably the least expensive of course we played on the trip by a mag by an order of two or three so uh just really well run really cool landscape like there's these kind of three like jagged peaks nearby they call the three sisters
Just the way that the fog rolls in there and and like it almost felt like bei...
in spots just like really much more raw and rugged uh greater than the sum of its parts and yeah like I would play it probably eight two over dukes like I feel like people can compare those two like it
“it was awesome i think there's something to that where i think that the the knock if there is one”
on Irish golf compared to Scottish golf is like the next like there's amazing top level golf
at both places but like the next tier Scotland blows Ireland out of the water so like the more of the more um places you can add to that list of like b-side you know courses that very easily clear the bar and lead to a great day of golf I think or absolutely worth highlighting it's shouting out so that's the thing to hear yeah and just like just great restaurant up top just yeah just like good people down there and and yeah it felt it felt very yeah very much like
authentic and like why I travel for golf so tc what was the yeah it was the return to dune bag like because i i i didn't walk away like loving that place i think everybody's coming out of there this shake kicked out of them the routing was weird but then i had a buddy go a couple of couple weeks ago couple months ago i like like kind of right before you were there there's a gag i don't know what you're talking about like it's awesome uh and it seems like they made a lot
changes yeah i felt similarly going in i was like oh we're going back to dune bag it was like glass round of the trip for me uh all that it was awesome I loved it it was uh it was in great shape
they re-routed like the first hole in the 18th hole of kind of switched it's it's a little bit more
coherent on that front uh 18's not quite as it's probably a stronger golf hole about quite a scenic they've like moved it away from the coast i don't know just like i know Martin
“Hotree i think's done a bunch of work there it felt like before it felt like all the greens were”
very disconnected from the dunes and now it felt and honestly the conditioning was super shit even in 2019 conditioning was awesome the the routing it's really really fun and in that like you get you know short par four then par three then par five then back to a short three then another short four like it's just really fun golf somebody had poisoned the tenth green uh a few weeks prior so that was on a that was on a tenth green they're getting ready for the for the Irish open
this week so yeah that was that was tough that that green was yellow i'll be curious to see what that looks like uh here moving forward but but yeah i was i was very pleasantly surprised just yeah it was in and yeah just a nice nice experience so you know strip away the politics and how are we feel about dt and all that it's it's a it's a it's a really cool piece of land and you know kind of playing along this bay and you get really really far away from from the hotel people there nice it supports
you know the the the local economy there so really enjoyed that um truly yeah prices not playing the Irish open is he not that i just he's not on the entry list and that was an extremely strong room where we were at the PGA championship to the point where they were planning out dt's pro and plans and things like that to play with Bryson and i just just like i hadn't heard any buzz about it and i just like the entry list and i i don't see him on there so yeah yeah well it was funny too like
“i think so many people were like oh you guys just didn't like the course because you don't like”
Donald Trump was like no i just didn't like the golf course so hopefully that kind of like must turn Barry listen like they're not gonna find many turn Barry critics here maybe we're able
to separate the two out yeah the indie bangs harder that you know bangs harder than the first time
around truly truly was awesome man love trivet they've done they've done good work there since we were there had an epic caddy there um he's the man it was just like such a we had a really sunny day out there it was the stuff they've done on the front nine there was awesome uh and then the back nine just rips just banger after banger after banger it's such a fun golf course the you know just well run the restaurant upstairs awesome just a good golf club
like everything that everything you would want out of a local club and they blend the the the mix of being a local club and being a tourist factory together as well as i've ever seen so was anything it didn't didn't live up to kind of first time around man dude baldy bunion was like I mean the golf it's like one of my favorite golf courses in the world like from a routing perspective uh we played it on like a perfect day like not much wind um and like having been to sand
hills and and you know band in a few more times now like baldy bunion makes more sense than ever
To me and like it's just the kind of one of the OGs they're along with like D...
no like I see exactly what Mike Kaiser was was trying to do here but man the the and I had great
caddy out there the it was so lush and overwatered and like to the point of like it being a detriment
“uh and you can tell like that they're like that's what they're about it's like we want to be”
the greenest show on turf like like we we want to be mowing lines you know the diamond mowing lines and Chris cut you know you kind of the cross cut stuff and different layers here and there like this isn't aesthetic exercise not a not a plain surface exercise and uh I know that that I heard that the superintendent there works remotely if you did like a few days before he could blew my mind and just generally speaking talking to people there and talking to people all around
Southwest of Ireland yeah it sounds like baldy bunion might have some issues and decisions to be made in the coming years like what do you want to be do you want to be just an absolute factory or like in like I think when this guy started he had 12 or 15 guys on the on the staff he's got 70 no and like there's just there's ropes everywhere too of like you can walk here you can't walk here you can not get it they get a ton of play and we didn't play the
revamped cash and course but um but yeah it just didn't like it looks really good and then you get in there and it's just soft and slow and it's like it was the dryest summer there in the last five or six years and you know you're going and it's like man this place like like how is this place so wet and lush and soaked you know so that was that was a bummer yeah just kind of putting that kind of rock my world a little bit I know yeah and like that's like a top 25 30 golf course
in the world right like it's about the golf it's about the clubhouse it was just kind of ratty
“and it just it just feels like a factory in the wrong in the wrong ways and then I think water”
bill was just like as I remembered it like it didn't really I wanted the like water bill the first
time more than I did um and then you know it was just kind of like the second time around was kind of more of the same was like yeah it I can see why the the US players both passed and I think some current guys still go over there to like play for you know play the play three four five days before the opening and get ready there you know very scenic but like very much like an objective binary golf course right like the fuzz is done plenty of work there it's you know hey you like you
have to cover this bunker at 320 off the back tease and it's it's very much that sort of test of like it's a one or zero this shot or that shot the back nine much better than the front nine
“but I feel like man like to a man on our trip everybody was like give me truly over water bill”
is so much more fun and like is it as good of a golf course I objectively probably not but like it just feels so much more lengthy and it feels so much more memorable yeah and the highs are higher yeah even that finish at at a water bill just you know you get the the hole that we in you know Liam's dappin everybody up in the pro shop and those ladies there at the in the area that yeah and then the ladies in the pro shop awesome like they handle their
stuff they they that's the best pro shop in southwest Ireland by far. Great logos obviously. Yeah awesome
logo like really first class operation there but yeah even the I don't know even like the
mass holes like man like there's just like a better approximation of this whole atrelly like yeah yeah like the party doctor saw he was like well he was like wait we're playing over there to that. That's crazy. So what about the off the course stuff I mean I feel like that's almost like a bigger part of some of the Ireland Ireland golf experience. Yeah we had great I mean we went to readies and few nights readies was great the site of Neil's famous
dance party at tour saw season was like four yeah there was there was a dude playing like playing the saxophone live like he was playing like they had a DJ and like he was playing the saxophone too like these club being hell yeah it was awesome and a bunch of bachelor parties there very very
Anl u friendly crowd like so I was like holy shit and yeah just yeah great ti...
foods wonderful and coloring it I mean it feels like going to Epcot right it's like it's like Disney
world for it's like Irish Disney world basically it's you know it's not quite the most I would say
like authentic experience but it's a fucking blast yeah but yeah good you know really really good good trip and God I went back but I don't I don't think like I don't think I need to reprise that trip I just like like I kind of turned my brain off I was like you know what I'm just gonna go and enjoy this trip with the guys and and I did and like I kind of just went with the flow and everything but like I think my happiness comes from playing new golf courses and
“having new experiences like going to places that are unexpected and like I think that's why”
Kalinshipel struck me so much too was yeah but then again like truly was you know it was like
even better this second time around kind of thing too so so hard to prioritize that that balance
we've talked about that a bunch with you know you can only get out for so many trips a year it's like do you go try to turn over more puzzle pieces or do you go try to get some more depth on some world-class places exactly good good problem to have let's put on so all right let's move towards wrapping I know you got ahead to the airport here soon to see but wanted to give a few few delights for the rest of your things we're each going to give three things we're looking forward
to our curious to see kind of in the rest of rest of your can be professional golf or non-professional golf I'll kick us off quickly here and just say what we're literally about to go get on the flight
to go do we're spending a few days around Holland around Amsterdam filming I've not really
experienced a lot of golf in the Netherlands to be honest I've played a few courses there but wasn't playing a lot of golf when I lived there so getting to do that getting to document that getting to visit smoldhons as well and the soulheim cup on the back end of that this is this is probably the highlight trip of the year for me and I cannot wait to see Bernardis it looks really cool we're going to be biking to the course from the hotel and it's a awesome competition and I
think the environment's going to be great and this has just been circle on the couch still how to shit here in Florida and get the pack a lot of humid get the pack a lot of stuff that some
“long sleeve layers and things like that I'm so stoked do you tell you I will go we've I think”
shouted this out a couple times but I'll do it again on the on the heels of our raw steelman interview I'm just I'm stoked about some of the the class of corn fairy tour dudes I think there's a crop of young American dudes there's a cabal of dudes that's that's common Ross Ross leading the way right there if you haven't got listen to our interview with him it was a delight what lots of great response from people on that one but it's not just him I mean
Doc Redmond Ian Hold, Cole Sherwood, Alister Docardy I know's been knocking on the door for a couple years Tommy Morrison I'm just fascinated like still see a lot of golfers that that look like him I mean just in awe of the size of that lad uh a photographer five member yeah it's just I think there's a lot of a lot of guys that uh
“you know there's a good a good crop that could be doing stuff on the PJ tour next year and I'm”
pretty fascinated to watch that over the next couple months then in the next season Tasty Ozzy open at Kingston Heath sure sign me up it's gonna be awesome I know you hate kings and Heath but uh yeah that was an easy one I'll give a shout the one fall event on the PJ tour that rocks every year's the bank of Utah hundred black desert yeah I just lad love watching that one feels low stakes but it just
feels like crazy moon golf and I just that's a fun Thursday to Sunday watch all the way through it's a lot of the fall golf is like I'll tune in Sunday and see what happens versus that one's one I'll have on my TV but age you know listen this is kind of self-serving here but I'm gonna I'm gonna shout out and I'll you video man we've got like one like at least 10 right now maybe 11 like certified bangers just in the hopper and I'm gonna be coming out over the next
three to six months it's just there's a lot of good good stuff we've got a full season of tour of sauce it's coming we shot a strap this week like I mentioned we've got three four hitting cups videos that we're that we're doing with humor if you liked those we've got a bunch more of those coming we've got a city tour of Chicago that's coming you guys are about to get on the plane at Amsterdam just a lot of good NLU videos stuff uh come in so yeah come through come watch
some of that I think it's gonna be it's gonna be that's the like and subscribe yeah exactly
Do you see go ahead oh I was I was gonna say the Dunhill links and just gener...
I think these fall events on the DP World Tour are gonna be pretty epic as far as just the fields that are teeing it up I mean even even today like you got you know jean chicara you made a triple
and his first whole Paul Casey P of course Matt Wall like it's it's gonna be there's gonna be a lot
of guys turning up for for these fall events on the DP World Tour even even DP World Tour Q school it's gonna be a sweepstakes as well like it's gonna be a fascinating look at the reentry process you know coming out of orbit coming back into the real golf ecosystem I love that my lone competitive rep in the remainder of the year Neil and I are gonna play a four sums event again we played it two years in row we did all shot back uh 21-22 I think
with the two years we did it um we're dusting that off uh I gotta you know I have to figure out his golf ball again which is a little bit of an adventure but I look forward to that challenge
and we're gonna we're gonna do one of those down here in jacks so that's not until December but that's
“that's what's got me geared up for golf this fall I love it I will uh my final final pick here I'll”
shout out the Asheville event that's uh coming up in a couple weeks here the I think people certainly not people there but like I think the flooding in the kind of disaster that went through there a couple years ago almost um I was like people slept on it but like I was talking to somebody from Asheville the other day which is like really running me through how devastated that whole area got and it's just uh it's almost hard to remember right like how how bad that was and and the
PJ tour going back there it's just it's an interesting fall event you want them to do interesting things in the fall it's an area that we don't usually see in in the golf world at least on a really big stage I know it's it's not a some big uh signature event or something but even just to have the the PJ tour go there and support that area I think it's just kind of a generally all thumbs up you know I'll be really interested to watch it and uh I'm pumped that that is
“taking place so I'm excited for that maybe some foliage too yeah yeah I think weather would be nice it's”
just it's such a cool area of the country and it's it's an area that yeah pro golf like we don't ever really get to see anything from there so I like it it's what the fall should be about well my last one a lot of different directions we could go here you know we were off thinking about the mid-AM at the Lido or you know the piner's 11 opening up but I'm going to go with the race to buy so I know you know I know you I know you hate the DP World tour but I'm in don't
you have a flight to catch you but P is currently 350ish points ahead of Rory at the moment who is 270 points ahead of Chikara and P versus Rory coming down the stretch on the DP World Tour could be it might get Rory to care about the race exactly and I did notice uh there there's a Rory
McElroy award on the like on the European tour and it's basically like the guy who had the lowest
“score in the majors that year I think he had to play and play it on the majors but Rory is not”
eligible to win the award because it's named after him so it's everybody excluding Rory that's funny because the back door top 10 is they had an award for to celebrate back door top 10s I guess. As we're recording this Tristan Lawrence has shot 62 he's 18 under Paul Casey's five holes to go uh in in Switzerland sorry we cannot fully put a bow on that one but as mentioned look at how we had soleheim cup this week the Irish open on a DP World Tour PJ tour
