"Lie," from NPR News, I'm Lakshmi, saying.

President Trump is addressing reporters this hour. He predicts the U.S. and Israel will quote "easily prevail in war with Iran." He has projected combat operations may last four or five weeks. Moments to go Trump also pay tribute to four U.S. service members who died in Kuwait as a result of the war.

And PR's Greg Myri reports on the reasons defense secretary Pete Hexette and others have given for military action. He said this was based on U.S. intelligence and Israeli strike. And what he was referring to was that the Americans found out these senior Iranian leaders

were meeting on Saturday morning, which is the first day of the work week there.

And so that's why he is really struck on this Saturday morning, you'd expect a nighttime

attack, but it was a daytime attack. And they knocked out all of these leaders, including Ayatollah Ali Hamanay, the Supreme Leader, Israel says they killed about 40 top Iranian leaders. NPR's Greg Myri, the U.S. and Israeli air strikes are hitting key military targets. And as NPR's Jackie North and reports, Iran is retaliating with strikes against Israel

in some Gulf states. A new front opened in the war in Lebanon after Iran backed his bullet fired rockets into Israel. It responded with air strikes in Beirut and southern Lebanon, further widening the three-day old war.

Three U.S. service members have been killed and President Trump says more may die before

the conflict is over. The White House says Iran wants to restart negotiations and that Trump will eventually talk with whoever is in charge.

But a top Iranian security official said on social media that Iran will not negotiate.

Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command says several U.S. war planes crashed in Kuwait due to friendly fire. The cruise managed to eject and an Iranian drone forced the shutdown of one of Saudi Arabia's largest oil facilities. Jackie North and NPR news.

The United Kingdom agreed to let the U.S. use its bases to attack Iran, reported Dury Baskaran's Cyprus, then reported an Iranian drone crashed into a British air base in Cyprus overnight. No one was hurt. The President of Cyprus, Niko's crystal-dully days, said the region is facing unimpressed

than it crisis, but Cyprus is not involved in any way, and is not intent to be part of any military operation.

On Sunday, British Prime Minister Kier Stormer said the U.K. had accepted a U.S. request

to use British bases for specific limited defense of strikes on Iran. Our later Asia-head type drone crashed into a royal air force base near the village of Akritiri in Cyprus. The British Ministry of Defense says the base sustained minimal damage and base authorities advised residents to shelter in place.

Friend-Pernus, I'm Dury Baskaran. The Dow is down nearly 60 points you're listening to NPR news. Centers won best ensemble last night at the Screen Actors Guild Award signalling what may come at the Oscars in two weeks. Vancouver's Vampire saga is a strong contender for the coveted prize of best picture

against one battle after another. The Paul Thomas Anderson picture at his swept other top prizes this award season, but last night was one for the history books. Seven years after seeing his film Black Panther win the Guilds ensemble award, Wukler is

now the first director to do it again with Centers.

With a boom in the number of Americans, 50 and older, more older adults are staying active, but this also means more overuse injuries including conditions that cause elbow and heel pain. NPR is Alison Aubrey reports on a treatment known as shockwave therapy. There's good evidence to show that extra corporal shockwave therapy, or ESWT, can help

to choose heel and reduce pain. Creating pressure and boosting blood flow to the area, Jonathan Seagull got the treatment at Stanford University Medical Center for pain in his heel caused by plantar fasciitis. Actually within a week or two of the first treatment, it had started to improve. And after three treatments, he felt much better.

Not everyone gets complete relief. The research shows many patients experience substantial reductions in pain and lasting relief. Alison Aubrey and PR news. I'm Lakshmi Singh and PR news in Washington.
