"Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Dave Madingley.

President Trump says he won't extend a nice deadline for Iran to reopen the straight

of foreign moves to commercial ship traffic.

Trump says Tehran has until eight o'clock Eastern time to comply before U.S. forces begin attacking Iran's power plants, bridges, and other infrastructure. Iran's state news agency says Tehran has rejected a U.S. proposal for a temporary ceasefire. Israel says it struck a major petrol chemical facility in Iran. It was among the latest wave of attacks by Israeli forces that left more than two dozen

people dead. Iran vows to continue striking back as NPR's carry-con reports from Tel Aviv. Defense Minister Israel Kat says Israeli strikes on major petrol chemical sites have taken out of production 85% of Iran's major revenue-generating facilities.

Israel also says it killed a military leader and the intelligence chief of the Iranian Revolutionary

Guard Corps. Iran has confirmed that.

The intelligence chief had only recently been appointed.

The previous intelligence chief and his deputy were also killed by Israel. Defense Minister Kat said Israel would continue to quote "hunt down Iran's leaders." Iran is sent to barrage of missiles towards Israel and Gulf states. Iran's military spokesman said if attacks on civilian targets continue, retaliation will be "carried out much more crushingly and extensively."

Carry-con and PR news Tel Aviv. The war in Iran continues to push up energy prices. Triple A says regular gasoline in the U.S. now averages $4.14 a gallon. The price has gone up about 12 cents in the last week. Triple A says diesel, as averaging almost 565 a gallon nationwide.

The four astronauts aboard NASA's Artemis 2 mission are on their way back to Earth following yesterday's lunar fly-by.

The crew was the first to fly around the far side of the moon in more than 50 years,

as NPR's NL Greenfield Boys reports.

The first woman to fly close to the moon, NASA astronaut Christina Cook, was struck by the

sight of small bright craters scattered all over. She said they didn't look like anything she'd seen in photos. And what it really looks like is like a lampshade for tiny ten-pricles and the light shining through. They're so bright compared to the rest of the man.

The astronauts also described seeing colors, greens and browns as they took numerous photos. The crew will return to Earth Friday and splash down off the coast of California. NASA says a landing on the lunar surface won't happen until 2028 at the earliest. All Greenfield Boys and PR News. Photers in Wisconsin are choosing a new member of the state Supreme Court today to appeal

scored judges are competing for the seat being vacated by retiring justice Rebecca Bradley. This is NPR News. Photers in Georgia are going to the polls today where a special election runoff is being held to fill the seat a former Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green, our old Bally with member station W. A. B. E. says the war in Iran has been one of the issues

in the race. Republican Clay Fuller who's endorsed by President Donald Trump backs the action in Iran. What President Trump is doing right now in the Middle East means long term that we can get out of these wars that we've been in since 2001, that we can offload our responsibilities in the Middle East to our partners, the Israelis.

That is fuller speaking after a recent debate during that televised debate. His opponent Democrat Sean Harris says America should not be at or with Iran. The reality of it is this war that we're in right now is a war of choice. The president was advised not to do it. He did it and now we're trying to figure out how we're going to get out of it.

Today's runoff feels Taylor Green's seat for the rest of the year. For NPR News, I'm Ronald Bally in Atlanta. Red flag warnings are in effect in areas of South Georgia and the Florida Panhandle. The National Weather Service says dry windy conditions will make it favorable for wildfires to break out.

The areas include Tallahassee and Tiffton.

Michigan is celebrating its first national championship in Men's College basketball since

1989. Last night in Indianapolis, the Wolverines defeated Yukon 69 to 63, to win the NCAA Division 1 Crown. Yukon was seeking its third national title in four seasons. I'm Dave Madingley and PR News in Washington.
