The first astronauts to fly close to the moon in more than half a century are now home

after splashing down in the Pacific late Friday.

Rick Hennfling was the entry flight director for the mission. He says the flight was close to perfect. Integrity in her crew for astronauts flew 700,237 miles. We hit our flight path angle target within 0.4 percent. We flew an entry range of 1,957 miles and we landed within less than a mile of our target.

What a tremendous day.

The four astronauts also took photos of the back of the moon and captured views never

before seen. Vice President J.D. Vance is leading a U.S. delegation in Saturday's peace talks with Iran in Pakistan, as NPR's Anusha Matha reports a primary concern is the straight-of-war moods. It has revealed this new source of leverage that the rest of the world didn't realize

that's Matthew Craneick. He worked on the Iran portfolio at the Pentagon during the Bush, Obama, and First Trump administration. While Trump is downplayed America's reliance on trade through the straight, Crane ick says these negotiations will set a precedent.

It's essential for the Trump administration to make sure that however this ends, it doesn't

end with Iran in control of the straight. He says the stakes are war or peace. Anusha Matha and PR News the White House.

This fiscal year, Congress has appropriated approximately $600 million to international family

planning and reproductive health work, but the Trump administration is not yet spent that money. PR's Gabriella Emmanuel reports. The repercussions are already evidence. Prussie Miango is a community health worker in Uganda.

She used to provide contraception to her community, birth control condoms, but with the foreign aid cuts she lost her job and the medications she provided. It's a really challenging period, but as I'm talking about, I will say that now we are not paid, but these are our neighbors, that people will share their charges.

She says she's now counseling neighbors through unintended pregnancies.

The U.S. used to be the top donor for family planning. In a statement to MPR, the State Department said it is still evaluating family planning programs and funding. Gabriella Emmanuel and PR News. The spike in gasoline prices, following the U.S. attack on Iran, caused a major

jump in inflation in March. Inflation had been undergoing a slow decline before the war began, but consumer prices were up 3.3% over March 2025, that's the biggest jump in almost two years. between Chinese leader Xi Jinping and the head of Taiwan's largest opposition party. As Xi's valentine reports from Taipei, the meeting only intensifies a partisan divide over how to handle relations with China. Opposition leader Zhang Li Wen's visit marked the first meeting between a sitting head of the Guoming Dong or KMT party in Xi Jinping in almost 10 years.

The two leaders affirm their support for warmer ties between Taipei and Beijing. But in a statement, Taiwan's president Lai Qing do a wrote that "History tells us that compromising with authoritarian powers only sacrifices sovereignty and democracy. It does not bring freedom nor does it bring peace."

Lai urged the opposition to pass his request for $40 billion in additional defense spending

to better prepare Taiwan for the threat of a potential Chinese invasion. In just over a month Xi Jinping will host President Trump and Beijing and may bring up the issue of U.S. arm sales to Taiwan. As the sale of U.S. made electric vehicles continue to slump China EV sales are having a banner year, China's Association of Automobile Manufacturers says experts of plug-in

hybrids in EVs in March rose more than 140% over the same time last year. Major Chinese manufacturers of enboosting sales abroad and expanding production facilities outside China. Mostly fell on Friday but finished the week up the Dow Jones industrial average closed down 269 points.
