monument would be the largest victory arch in the world. The Commission of Fine Arts is a seven-member body whose ranks are composed of Trump appointees. The lead designer on the project, Nicholas Chabano, noted the arch would stand 250 feet high to mark 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
With built to the proposed height, it will tower over Arlington National Cemetery and obstructs sightlines to the Lincoln Memorial. The committee has asked for some tweaks to the submitted design. One suggestion was to replace proposed statues of lions adorning the arch's base with eagles as animals native to North America.
The proposed DC arch would be the biggest structure of its kind in the world.
For example, it would dwarf the arch to Trump and Paris, which stands at only 154 feet,
an Estosia Siyoka's and Peronus. In 85-year-old French widow of a U.S. veteran is still being held in a federal detention center in Louisiana after ICE agents arrested her from the home she'd shared with her husband and Aniston Alabama. Reporter Melanie Peoples has more.
Anita as Rosma A has been in custody for more than two weeks in Louisiana detention facility that according to her children and France is not allowing them to talk to her. The console general of the French Republic, who has an office in New Orleans, is calling for the 85-year-old to be let go immediately. Rosma A had been married to an American veteran who died in January without a will.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, Rosma A has overstayed her visa. But a probate judge in Alabama where the elderly woman was living, says the arrest stems from an inheritance dispute between the elderly woman and her husband surviving sons from his first marriage.
