Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Janine Herbst.

U.S. officials are heading to Islamabad to resume peace talks to negotiate the end of

the war with Iran, but Iran hasn't confirmed it will take part. This comes after President Trump said the U.S. struck an Iranian vessel that attempted to violate its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. This says the fragile two-week ceasefire is set to end this week, and here's Eric McDaniel has more.

As an advanced U.S. special envoy Steve Whitcloth and Jared Kushner, the President's Sun and Law, will be involved in the talks according to a White House official who spoke on background. In a post-on-line Sunday morning, Trump accused Iran of violating a two-week ceasefire by

firing on some ships in the Strait of Hormuz, which is a key energy-transit waterway.

He said Iran is losing $500 million a day thanks to the U.S. blockade of its ships there.

Later in the day, Trump posted that the U.S. had stopped in Iranian flagged cargo ship by quote "blowing a hole in its engine room," and that U.S. marines are now in control of the vessel. Eric McDaniel and Pianu is the White House. The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon is being tested, but it's still holding for now.

And here's Eleanor Bearsley reports, a French peacekeeper and an Israeli soldier were killed in southern Lebanon this weekend. President Emmanuel Macron confirmed the French soldier's death, which he said appeared to be caused by fire from Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group denies and irresponsibility. The Israeli military says his soldier was killed when his engineering vehicle ran over a bomb.

Meanwhile, Paul show most Israelis opposed the ceasefire, which comes as they believe their army was making progress in routing the group.

"We stop in the middle to finish the work." Levy also supports pursuing military operations against Iran to finish with the regime. He says, even if it means more missiles on Israel, Eleanor Bearsley and Pianu's Tel Aviv. In Trey port, Louisiana, at least eight children are dead, ranging in age from 1 to 14 after a domestic disturbance turned into a mass shooting.

Police Corporal Chris Boralon says the gunman has been identified as Shamar Elkins, and that seven of the children shot and killed are believed to be his. "The mother of the children was also shot and had very serious injuries, although we are hopeful that she will recover. There's another female that was in this resident residence that has life threatening injuries.

We are hopeful that she will pull through." Speaking there to KSLA news, the gunman is also dead. There's no word on a motive for the shooting. Starting tomorrow, importers that paid tariffs that were later found to be illegal will be able to claim refunds online.

In February, the Supreme Court ruled the President Trump over stepped as authority in setting

double-digit tariffs on almost all imports to the U.S. It's the first step in a complicated

process that could eventually lead to refunds for consumers. You as future contracts are trading lower, you're listening to NPR news. What we're living through, I think, is really the two parties taking opposite sides on

whether we want to keep making this type of social progress or whether we want to go back in time. This is the NPR's Co Twitch podcast and the NPR app, or wherever you get your podcast.
