Authorities in Shreveport, Louisiana say, "A children were killed in a mass shooting this weekend."

If here's Joe Hernandez reports, police say the sole suspect is believed to be the father

of seven of the children, the mother of those children and another woman were also shot and wounded. The Shreveport Police Department says officers were called to a home in the city Sunday morning for what a police spokesperson described as a domestic disturbance. The suspect then allegedly committed a carjacking and led police on a chase before officers

opened fire and the suspect died. The children who were killed ranged an age from one to 14 years old. Police said one of the victims fled to an adjacent home and that authorities were alerted

to a third crime scene nearby.

Authorities said some of the victims were his "dissendence." Shreveport Mayor Tom Arsonos said the killings were perhaps the worst tragic situation the city has ever seen. Joe Hernandez and PR News President Trump says U.S. officials are again going to his llama bot for negotiations

with Iran this week, though it's not clear Tehran will attend.

Iranian state media says on X, the U.S. keeps changing its mind and that makes the chance of talks bleak. But see, Joel's has more on Pakistan's preparations for the talks. Public transport in the city has been suspended. Two five-star hotels have been cleared of guests and movement in and out of the high security

red zone has been restricted. Because llama bot shut down in a similar fashion ahead of the first round of peace talks that were held in the city last weekend. Those talks ended without a deal. Pakistan says it has continued to act as a mediator between the U.S. and Iran since then,

though its foreign ministry has remained "type-lipped" about what negotiations have entailed. For NPR News, I'm Betsy Joel's in his llama bot. Meanwhile President Trump says the U.S. seized an Iranian flagged ship and fired on it after trying to get around the U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. In Michigan, nearly half the state remains under an emergency declaration and cleanup

is underway after extreme weather pounded the state. AJ Jones of Member Station WCMU has more. Black Lake is located in northern lower Michigan in the tip of the midst, where entire roads were washed away by flood waters. Officials evacuated the area over the weekend while first responders waited in on watercraft

to assess damage and conduct safety checks. John Mousseau lives on black lake. He says his house is a total loss and everything will need replacing. Totally unexpected. This doesn't happen up here, right?

Never has and we've owned the house since 1990.

Mousseau says he and many of his neighbors don't have flood insurance. State police say they're monitoring flooding in the region and working to remove debris. For NPR News, I'm AJ Jones in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Who is future's contracts are trading lower at this hour? You're listening to NPR News from Washington.

New research shows more climate-warming methane is being emitted in cities in the U.S. and around the world. Empires Jeff Radie says scientists use satellites to measure methane emissions above more than 70 cities worldwide. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas and governments estimate emissions by taking inventories

of sources such as landfills and gas utilities. But now scientists using satellites have generally found higher levels than those inventories. Eric Court directs the atmospheric chemistry department at the Mox Plunk Institute for Chemistry and Germany. So this gap suggests that those methods are not accountant for the emissions growth properly,

which then has implications for trying to understand where is the methane coming from and

what is the best way to mitigate or reduce emissions?

More than 100 countries have agreed to reduce their methane pollution by 2030 as part of their climate pledges, Jeff Radie and PR News. At the weekend box office, the Super Mario Galaxy movie once again took the top spot with an estimated $35 million in ticket sales. The Mario sequel has topped the charts for three weekends making $747 million globally.

In second place, Project Hail Mary with $20 million, bringing its worldwide total to more than

$570 million. In third place, Lee Kronen's the mommy debuted with $13 million and despite mixed reviews, it has a worldwide total of $34 million dollars. The film follows a family who's missing daughter reappears mummified and living. I'm Janine Herbst and PR News.

What happens when our political party becomes the prism through which we see every other aspect of our identities? What we're living through, I think, is really the two parties taking opposite sides on whether we want to keep making this type of social progress or whether we want to go back in time.
