Live from MPR News on Jail Snyder, Iran says it has no plans for a new round ...
talks with the U.S. after the U.S. Navy seized an Iranian flag cargo ship yesterday
“and the straight-up removes, as in pure chain or after reports.”
Iran hadn't confirmed Sunday that it would participate even after President Trump said he was sending a U.S. delegation to Pakistan. Iran made it clear saying, "We have no plans for the next round of negotiations." That's after the U.S. Navy seized a container ship heading from China to Iran. Iran responded by firing drones at U.S. warships and said it would have responded more
strongly, but it was worried about the safety of crew and family members on the cargo vessel. One did, though, say it was examining new proposals that said it had received in recent days from the U.S. Jainaralf and Pyrenees, among. Iran's chief negotiators said in a social media post early today that Iran rejects negotiations under threat, and he said that Iran has new cards to play on the battlefield.
Businesses are officially able to request tariff refunds, but don't expect consumers to get their tariff dollars back and Pyrenees even passaha reports that the government refunds are only for importers. Companies can try to pass refunds along to consumers, but it's nearly impossible to determine how much individual consumers paid.
Terrence Lao is the dean at Syracuse University's College of Law. He says companies raised prices because of tariffs, but often did not pass on the full cost.
“So how much of that price increased to your attribute to tariffs?”
Companies can't even answer that question. That leaves some consumers, like Edwin Martinez, feeling ambivalent and annoyed. "I paid this extra tax, man, can I just have my money back?" FedEx says it will give refunds. Costco says it will try using them to lower prices, both are facing class action lawsuits
over refunds. Steven Bissahah and Pyrenees. "Ceterical news outlet, the onion says it's close to a new deal to take over Alex Jones's Info Wars media company, if approved by a Texas judge, it will put the onion back on track to turn Info Wars into a parody of itself.
It appears to be a Smith reports." Families of those killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, whose sued Jones for defamation, want the sale to happen. They're still waiting to collect on the massive defamation suit they won against Jones after he spread lies that they were faking the deaths of their children.
The families are also eager to take away Jones' platform for spewing those conspiracy theories, and this deal would do that. If approved a Texas state receiver could remove Jones from his studio and start licensing Info Wars domain and brand name to the onion, but Jones is likely to appeal, to Obvious Smith and Pyrenees.
"This is in PR." Another member of President Trump's cabinet is stepping down the White House's labor secretary, Lori Chopper's to reamer, is leaving to take a position in the private sector to reamer's facing multiple investigations into allegations of misconduct.
She is the third Trump cabinet member to leave recently.
President Trump's nominee to lead the Federal Reserve of Beyond Capital Hill today, the Senate Banking Committee, is to hold a confirmation hearing for Kevin Worsh. President Trump has repeatedly criticized the Fed for not cutting interest rates more aggressively. And Worsh's confirmation hearing will be watched by investors as stocks rebounded overseas, South Korean cheers lead the way up 2.7% to a fresh record high.
A spoof of golden age musicals opened on Broadway last night, Megadom had an unusual development process as Jeff London reports. Most Broadway shows have out of town tryouts to polish their material, but Megadom's author Cinco Paul says his show began on a streaming TV service.
“"I think of, in some ways, the Apple TV plus version is our out of town tryouts."”
Megadom aired in 2021 as a six-part series about a bickering couple who find themselves stuck in a town where everyone sings old-fashioned songs. Paul adapted his material for the stage and the show actually did have an out of town and tried out at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. last year. For NPR News, I'm Jeff London, in New York.
