"Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Rylan Barton.

Vice President J.D. Vance says the U.S. is prepared to go back to striking Iran.

If negotiations don't end in a deal," President Trump said earlier that he called off

an attack on Iran after allies like Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates said Iran was close to agreeing to a deal, and Pierset Deepa Shiveram has more. The VP said Iran recognizes that having a nuclear weapon is a red line for the U.S. that no deal can be reached unless Iran agrees not to have a nuclear weapon. But Vance also says resorting back to military tax on Iran is still an option.

"We're locked and loaded. We don't want to go down that pathway, but the President is willing and able to go down that pathway if we have to." Vance says he believes that increased prices of gas and other goods that have come from the war are a temporary increase, and they will come down.

But in the meantime, voters are not happy with how the administration is handling the economy. Deepa Shiveram and Pierset News the White House. "It'll be a rematch of sorts in Alabama's race for governor this year. Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville will face former Democratic Senator Doug Jones, according

to a race call from the Associated Press, Jones served a partial Senate term after defeating former Republican Senator Roy Moore in a special election in 2017, then Tuberville defeated Jones in 2020 by roughly 20 percentage points. Now the two are facing off in a race to replace term-limited Republican Governor K. Ivy in this year's general election.

Cook political report rates the race is solidly Republican. Health officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are responding to two ongoing infectious disease outbreaks with travel restrictions. As NPR's a ping-hoong reports, they say these measures are intended to protect the broader public."

You see, it vises people to avoid non-essential travel to parts of the Democratic Republic

of Congo because of a growing Ebola outbreak. Dr. Satish Pielai, who works on Ebola response for the agency, says, "Some who have been there, can't come to the U.S." "The CDC has immediately issued an order to suspend and treat a certain person's from the ERC, Uganda, and South Sudan."

The so-called Title 42 order restricts people with non-US passports if they've been in these countries in the past 21 days. Shortly, an outbreak of haunt of ours on a cruise ship has led to other restrictions. Two cruise passengers were issued quarantine orders requiring they stay at a facility in Nebraska through the end of May.

Other cruise ship passengers are there voluntarily, ping-hoong and PR news." The U.S. government has agreed to permanently drop tax claims against President Trump.

It's part of a deal to resolve Trump's $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS over the

leak of his tax returns. The U.S. is "foreverbarred and precluded" from examining or prosecuting Trump, his sons and the Trump organization's current tax issues, according to a one-page document posted to the DOJ website. You're listening to NPR News from Washington. Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in China for meetings with Chinese leaders

Xi Jinping. The visit comes less than a week after President Trump wrapped up his own trip to Beijing. Putin's two-day visit is likely to be closely watched as Beijing seeks to maintain stable relations with the U.S. while also preserving strong ties with Russia. The Nigerian military says scores of ISIS fighters have been killed in several days of joint air strikes by U.S. and Nigerian forces. The strikes have destroyed ISIS locations

in northeast Nigeria and killed several senior ISIS commanders as NPR's dual-bright reports. Since 175 ISIS fighters have been killed in the strikes that began on Saturday, according

to a spokesperson for Nigeria's defense ministry, several ISIS commanders and key figures from

the group's West African offshoot "ISWAP" have been killed, including ISIS-Global-Second

in command, Abu Bilao Al-Minouki. These strikes come amid growing military operations between the U.S. and Nigeria, following claims by the Trump administration of targeted killings against Christians in Nigeria. In March, more than 200 U.S. soldiers were deployed to Nigeria for what depends on described as training and intelligence purposes. But troops now appear to be undertaking combat missions. The NFL is taking the 2030 Super Bowl to Nashville in the Tennessee Titans' New Nissan Stadium. It'll be the first time the game will be held in music city after a vote from team owners.
