“Trump's hand-picked challenger Ed Gaul-Rine defeated Massey in Tuesday's primary”
election. Kentucky Public Radio Sylvia Goodman reports. "Gall-Rine won the nomination by a more than nine percentage point margin. It's another victory for Trump who has worked in knockoff many of his perceived foes in Congress.
In his victory speech Tuesday night, Gaul-Rine thanked the president." "Now, my focus is on advancing the president's and the party's agenda to put
America first and Kentucky always."
While conceding the race, Massey said he felt he'd mobilized young voters and beamed as his supporters changed it for him to run again in 2028. "We weren't really running against Ed Gaul-Rine. We weren't running against Donald Trump. We were running for what we believe in."
The race was one of the most closely-watched contests and the most expensive house primary so far in the country.

The Trump administration defending its plan for a $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund in Piers' Tom Drysbock reports."
Trump administration officials say people who believe the government was weaponized against them should apply for taxpayer-funded restitution through the Justice Department's upcoming anti-weaponization fund, and officials would not rule out making payments to Trump supporters who violently assaulted police during the January 6th attack on the Capitol. Vice President J.D. Vance told reporters they would evaluate applications on a case-by-case
basis. But we're trying to compensate people where the book was thrown at them, they were mistreated by the legal system. Democrats have condemned the initiative, calling it a "slush fund" for Trump's allies. Tom Drysbock and PR News.
“"Now to San Diego, which is morning to three victims of Monday's mosque shooting, Katie”

Imam Taha Hassan says he was a hero, "If he didn't do what he did, and he stuck a fight in his life, the two suspects would have access to every single classroom. We're so proud of him."
The center has a school on site. San Diego police chief Scott Wallace says 140 children were within 15 feet of the suspects. He says Abdullah delayed the suspects and told staff to lock down the center. Men's Sour Kazeha had worked at the center for 40 years. "I don't know what I'm going to do, and the Islamic Center without his assistance.
His daily assistance."
Community members have raised more than $2 million for the victim's families.

A fast spreading wildfire on Santa Rosa Island off the coast of Santa Barbara has burnt through a grove of endangered Tory pines.
The island is one of only two places in the world where the endangered species grows. The others in San Diego. Mike Thune, a spokesperson for the National Park Service, wouldn't say how many trees have burned, but that the stand appears "intact." "The observations from the firefighters on the ground is that fire intensity was relatively
low." According to the National Park Service, the trees are vulnerable to extinction in the wild. The fire started late last week and is still burning. The cause is still under investigation. For NPR News, I'm Kindra Hanna from San Luis Obispo.

We're watching Keeprimearies on Tuesday in Kentucky and elsewhere to see if that narrative holds up. And what those races might tell us about November.
