Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm with Sir Johnston.

The death toll from an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to rise.

Health officials say there are 177 suspected deaths from the virus in nearly 750 suspected

cases, and at Livingstone reports, health workers there are struggling to respond. Late on Friday locals in the gold mining town of Mangualu in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo burnt down a tent in an Ebola treatment center. His follows another attack on a health center in a nearby area this week. The violence underscores the difficulties health responders are facing in Congo, trying to

control the spread of Ebola. The epicenter of the outbreak is in a poor, hard-to-reach area where armed groups as well as national armies are active. NGOs, as well as the UN, are flying tons of medical supplies to eastern Congo in a bit to contain the virus.

But across the region, larger than the state of Florida, UK's keep cropping up. For NPR News, I'm Emmett Livingstone in Canchasse. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has arrived in India for talks.

He'll take part in a meeting of the Quad on Tuesday that's a grouping of the U.S.

Australia, Japan, in India, which focuses on security alignment in the Indo-Pacific. NPR's DEA Hadid reports Rubio met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi shortly after landing today.

This visit comes after a shot deterioration in U.S. in your relations under the second

Trump administration. President Trump's like 50% tariffs on India among the world's highest. Most recently, he took another downturn after the President shared a post on social media that described India as a hellhole country. Rubio landed in the eastern city of Kolkata, where he participated in a mass at the International

Headquarters for Mother Teresa's missionaries of charity. It's unclear why Rubio chose to make his first event in a place that's often seen as short-hand for India's endemic poverty and not a place that represents a more forward-looking vision of India, like a technology park.

Dear Hadeed, NPR News, New Delhi, a federal judge in Tennessee has cleared Kilmar-Abrego

Garcia of all charges. He argued the Trump administration retaliated against him after his wrongful deportation to El Salvador, Marianna Bechial from their Prestation W.P.L.N. reports. Prosecutors charged a Brego Garcia with human smuggling based on a two-and-a-half-year-old traffic stop in Tennessee.

He has ruling Judge Waverley Crenshaw found issue with the delay in prosecution. A Brego Garcia's federal investigation began only after the Supreme Court ordered he be returned to the US. He also pointed to a senior prosecutor who resigned from the DOJ after his recommendation not to charge a Brego Garcia went unheeded.

For NPR News, I'm Marianna Bechial in Nashville, this is NPR News. Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start to the summer travel season. Bruce Conviser reports, air travelers at one New York airport are still dealing with delays from a hectic week.

The awardee of airport reopened at second runway late Friday afternoon, two days after

crews discovered a sinkhole on the runway. Earlier Friday officials said the runway would not reopen until Saturday morning, but by Friday afternoon they announced that ground penetrating radar indicated that the strip was ready to resume operations. Some outbound flights were more than two hours behind schedule overnight, while inbound

flights were experiencing our long delays. That's according to the tracking site flight aware. Travelers are still being advised to check with their airline before heading to the airport. The cause of the sinkhole is under investigation. For NPR News, I'm Bruce Conviser in New York.

A shipyard explosion on New York, Staten Island has killed one person and injured dozens. Officials say workers were trapped after a fire broke out of the facility prompting a massive rescue operation. Mayors O'Ran Mamdoni says crews spend hours bringing the blaze under control. This was a complex, fast-developing emergency situation.

More than 30 New Yorkers, both civilians and first responders have sustained injuries.

Officials say one fire marshal remains in critical condition, and another firefighter

is listed in serious condition. I'm Windsor-Johnston, NPR News, in Washington. New shows, new music, new movies, keeping up with pop culture sometimes feels like a full-time job. Over at pop culture happy-hour, it's literally our job.
