The look-alikes eventually gathered for the final count with the MC Scott Nevins. "One thousand thirty-seven marlins packed this area and put the springs and broke the world record." Some like it hot, and here, some also like it record-breaking. For NPR News, I'm Madison Aument in Palm Springs. Italy celebrates Republic Day on Tuesday to remember June 2, 1946, when Italians chose
a republic over a monarchy after World War II. A rehearsal for the parade ended in chaos Friday night when a policeman set off fireworks without permission, dozens of horses bolted and ran through the streets of Rome.
The last one was finally recovered yesterday morning.
Several people were thrown and some injured. Some of the horses were also injured, but none had to be put down. I'm Nora Rom, NPR News in Washington.
