>> Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Windsor, Johnston.

President Trump says he's confident Iran will eventually agree to a U.S.

Brokered peace deal despite ongoing resistance from leaders in Tehran.

>> They're proud. There are things they never thought they'd be doing.

They're going to have to do. They've got no choice. And it takes a little while. You're talking about forty-seven years of getting away with whatever they wanted. I mean, we should have been done long ago. >> Trump speaking on NBC. This comments come as negotiations continue to and the conflict are now entering their fourth month.

While both sides have repeatedly extended a ceasefire. First reached an April recent military exchanges near the state of Hormuz, had raised concerns about the stability of the troops. Secretary of State Marker Rubio told House lawmakers last week that the military operation has concluded. Israel has carried out airstrikes in Bay Roots Southern suburbs,

marking the first attack on the Lebanese capital since the U.S. Brokered ceasefire took effect. And PR's Genera reports Israel is also expanding evacuation warnings across parts of Southern

Lebanon as it threatens additional strikes.

>> Israel hit the southern suburbs of Bay Root, according to Lebanon's state media. The Israeli military said it was in response to his full targeting northern Israel. And the Israeli military has also issued new warnings for the major city of Tyre in Southern Lebanon.

Here in Tyre, there's only one part of what was a thriving coastal city that is not under the threat of attack. It's the ancient part near the ancient port and it is full of thousands of displaced people. There is rarely warplanes overhead. But people here are still seem relaxed because there's nowhere else they can flee. Generaff and Pyrenees, entire Lebanon.

>> A massive luxury development backed by President Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner is facing growing resistance in Albania. And PR's Rob Schmitz reports Kushner is proposing to build the resort on top of an environmentally protected coastal area. >> Every night, for the past week, thousands of Albanians have marched along the main

thoroughfare in the capital to Rana. Each time ending up in front of Prime Minister Eddie Rama's office, to protest his government's lack of transparency, surrounding Kushner's project on a wildlife preserve. At a protest yesterday at the proposed site of the resort in Svarenich,

I'll be bethosi was among hundreds concerned about the project. >> Because it will not be for me if we would be just for that one percent of the millionaires. >> This past week, state prosecutors froze the bank accounts of a land-holding company tied to the resort.

Rob Schmitz and Pyrenees, Albania. >> This is NPR. >> [APPLAUSE]

>> Or than a million people lined the streets of Madrid today,

leaving flags and banners to welcome Pope Leo. He greeted the crowds as he made his way through the city and his potmobile on the second day of his official visit to the country. During his sermon, Pope Leo urged worshipers to express their faith by helping others, saying, "God identifies with the poor, the downtrodden,

and those who are alone and forsaken." During his visit, Leo will also address the Spanish parliament and meet with survivors of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church. Federal agricultural officials and the livestock industry in South Texas are on high alert for additional cases of a parasite called the New World Screwworm.

NPRs will stone reports. It's the first detection in that state since the 1960s. >> The New World Screwworm is a parasitic fly that lays its eggs in the wounds of livestock and other animals and feeds on their flesh. It was a devastating pest for the cattle industry in the 1900s before a massive

eradication program largely vanquished the fly from the US. Jason Sawyer, chief science officer for East Foundation, a non-profit and ranching operation, says his industry has been preparing for this.

>> It is a threat that can be mitigated and ultimately eradicated.

You know, we've done it before we can do it again. >> The eradication strategy largely relies on releasing millions of sterile male flies that mate with wild females, which causes the population to decline over time. We'll stone NPR news.

>> This is NPR. >> The surreal horror film "Back Rooms" is a smash. The director is a 20-year-old YouTuber and it's based on his popular web series.
