Live from NPR News in New York City, I'm Duahli Sikertau.

A funeral has been held for a seven-month-old baby who was shot and killed in the occupied

West Bank yesterday.

This really military says it is investigating that shooting involving Israeli soldiers who

allegedly opened fire on a car in the territory. New Ham Mosla is in Ramallah and reports that infants parents were also wounded. Elastinian authority officials say Sam Abu Heiken was in his mother's arms when an Israeli soldier opened fire on the car in the southern West Bank City of Hebrew Friday night. Both the mother and baby were struck, the child died in hospital.

Israel said a soldier fired after perceiving a vehicle speeding towards them. The baby's father, Fat Abu Heiken told Israeli media their car had come to a complete stop at a checkpoint before they came on their fire. Israeli military said it was investigating the shooting of what it called un-involved civilians. West Bank health officials say Israeli forces have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians, including

210 children in the past three years.

For NPR News, this is normally in Ramallah.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is in Normandy to mark the 82nd anniversary of the D.A. landings. NPR's Eleanor Beards' reports Hegseth use the anniversary of the Allied defeat of Nazi Germany to emphasize that Europe must be responsible for its own security. At the American cemetery on a bluff above Omaha Beach, Hegseth said it is a strategic necessity for Europe to take the lead in its own security.

Speaking against a backdrop of more than 9,000 American tombs, Hegseth called on allies as like France to seriously face this reality with concrete steps. The U.S. has already pulled 5,000 troops out of Europe and the Trump administration has made it clear that U.S. priorities lie elsewhere. The ceremony at the American Cemetery at Colville, Sir Mayer took place several hours before

the International Ceremony, which Hegseth skipped.

A citizen's association of one Normandy village protested Hegseth's visit calling the

appearance of "A member of America's far right, the wrong symbol on a day that celebrates the Allied unity, Eleanor Beardsley and Pyrnew's Paris." FIFA says it will now allow fans to bring their own water bottles to select stadiums during the World Cup, which begins next week. Here's FIFA's High Mosheer Ghee.

What is not allowed are hindsight into reusable water containers and to propose to safety and securitywits. This statement was released in video. This is NPR News from New York City. An annual live music festival in Toledo, Ohio, at least 12 people have been injured, following

gunfire at the event. Deputy Police Chief Joe Heferman said two gunman fired weapons, "probably shooting at each other." Governor Mike DeWine said on social media, "Fran and I are praying for everyone impacted by the incident at the Old West and Festival."

One month after winning the Kentucky Derby Golden Temple once again said the pace,

capturing the third leg of the Triple Crown, Aaron Shello Levine with Member Station WAMC

is at the Saratoga Race course in Upstate New York, the tempering home to the Belmont Stakes since 2024. The three-year-old cult again made history, coming from behind to in Saturday's Belmont Stakes. That made Golden Temple a two-leg Triple Crown race champion this season, after not running

the pre-pressed stakes five weeks ago. In the first leg in May, trainer Sherry DeVo became the first woman to win the Kentucky Derby, a race Golden Temple won from the back of the pack. This weekend's victory came on home turf for DeVo, as the Belmont was run for the third and final time in her hometown of Saratoga Springs, while its usual downstate home

undergoes a half billion dollar renovation.

Local track regular and carry said she bet on DeVo's horse. For NPR News, I'm Aaron Shello Levine in Saratoga Springs, and I'm Doa Halley-Sy-Cal-Tel, and PR News from New York City.
