With a stroke of his pen today, Trump ended a 115-day standoff between Democrats and Republicans

over immigration policy intensified earlier this year when federal agents shot and killed two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis. At the White House today, Trump also took reporters' questions about the latest military strikes against the Iran. Trump's threatened more attacks over Iran's refusal to meet U.S. demands for a peace

deal and over Monday's downing of an Apache helicopter. Iran responded to yesterday's U.S. strikes with retaliatory attacks against U.S. bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait, and Piers-Frankordonias as more. "Mona, you could be in a former State Department official who now works at the Center for Strategic and International Studies," says Trump was basically in a no-win situation.

"If the U.S. doesn't respond, that will be portrayed as weakness. If, on the other hand, the U.S. response, as it should, that opens the way for further escalation." It also makes it harder to reach a deal that the President had said earlier this week was potentially two or three days away.

Gates has mentioned hundreds of times in the Department of Justice's Epstein files. An email indicates that Gates traveled on Epstein's private plane, and there are photos of him with Epstein.

Gates has won an alitni of connections, the disgraced finance here, made with rich and powerful

men. According to the released emails, Gates met with Epstein multiple times after Epstein's 2008 conviction for sex crimes at involved minors. Gates has denied seeing or participating in Epstein's crimes. Survivors of Epstein's abuse say they will continue to fight for justice as the investigation

The World Cup final is July 19th. The Somali referee barred from entering the US ahead of the World Cup has returned home to a hero's welcome in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, immigration officials denied him entry at Miami, causing widespread outrage at the treatment of Africa's top referee, and raising concerns about access to the World Cup.

Here's NPR's Emmanuel Akan Wattu. Thousands of fans met Omar Atan as he landed in Mogadishu from Istanbul. Officials have also planned a welcome event where hundreds of fans are expected to attend. Atan was named Africa's top referee last year, but was denied entry to the US after an 11 hour interrogation at Miami International Airport.

The decision has sparked widespread outrage, including at international football's governing body FIFA, who previously said access to the World Cup for all teams, fans, and officials was a minimum requirement. The Trump administration said Atan was denied entry due to quote, "association with suspected members of terror organizations."
