President Trump says the U.S. military has killed the alleged leader of a Venezuelan
“gang involved in drug smuggling and human trafficking.”
John Otis reports. Trump announced on social media that the U.S. Southern Command had carried out a "swift and kinetic strike" that executed Hector Rusthan Ford Guerrero Flores, also known as "Niniel Guerrero", he was the leader of Thrender Agua, a Venezuelan gang that branched out to become a multinational crime organization by recruiting Venezuelan migrants.
Thrender Agua eventually expanded to the United States, where it carried out a wave of robberies and is suspected in the shooting of two New York police officers. The President's social media post included a video showing a projectile destroying a building, though it was unclear where the attack took place. For MPR News, I'm John Otis.
Crowds gathered at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Chanting, take it down, but it's still up, Trump's name. Even though a court ordered deadline to take it down Friday has now passed, the Trump administration is asking for an extension until noon Saturday, citing stormy weather.

There are still potential legal avenues for the center to pursue reinstating the Trump
name. Mthropics says it will disable its latest AI models known as "Fable 5 and Mythos 5" for all users. This after the Trump administration ordered their suspension for foreign nationals, citing national security concerns.

New immigration regulations went into effect in the EU following years of negotiations over an issue that's fueled support for the far right across Europe, and PR's Esmerical Sin reports the agreement requires member states to take their fair share of asylum seekers or offer them financial support. The EU's migration and asylum pact aims to make it more difficult for asylum seekers in
migrants to enter the 27 nation block. They are to be screened at the European Union's outer borders for up to seven days before being admitted. asylum seekers from countries that the EU now deems safe, such as Syria and Bangladesh can be kept at the border while their cases are processed, and given only one chance to appear
a rejection application. Rejected asylum seekers will also be issued immediate return orders, and if there are no diplomatic relations between the country that trying to enter and their country of origin, they
will be held in what are referred to as "return hubs" in third countries.
