"Live from NPR News in Washington.

Truth Social Post, a deal with Iran is supposed to be signed today. NPR's Mar Elias

in reports that the word from Iran appears to be different."

Trump posted that immediately after the signing, the Strait of Hormuz will be open. The deal would be a memorandum of understanding that would extend the current ceasefire while the two sides continue talks on the big issues of Iran's enriched uranium and its nuclear weapons program. It's not clear what Iran would get in exchange for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, possibly funds from Gulf states.

It is doubtful that any agreement that arises is going to be significantly different or a significant improvement from the deal that we had in the first place and had worked for for a long stretch of time before we the United States pulled out of it.
