"Live from NPR News in Washington on Rylan Barton, President Trump says he si...
preliminary Iran deal, while visiting French President Emmanuel Macron at Versailles in France.
“And Pierre's Franco Ordonius says the agreement is light on specifics."”
"It was pretty striking how much Trump's public promises do not appear to be backed up
by the text of the agreement, may while it says Trump or Iran will never procure or develop
nuclear weapons. You know, they've said that before. And from there, it gets really more aspirational, more into generalities. I mean, just as an example, the framework says the two sides agreed to discuss the issue of uranium enrichment, and that they've also agreed to resolve the disposition of the
enriched material that's still buried in the mountain. The White House insists that Iran has agreed to destroy the enriched material, but that's not quite so clear in the text. And like many things with Trump, many speaks and such strong declaratives while the framework really is a lot of TBD to be determined."
Then Pierre's Franco Ordonius reporting, FEMA is poised to have a new leader and Pierre's Rebecca Hershey reports Cameron Hamilton, appeared at a Senate confirmation hearing today. Cameron Hamilton served as FEMA's temporary administrator for a short period last year, but he was removed from the position after clashing with top Trump administration officials over whether the agency should exist at all.
Hamilton argues it should. And in a reversal, the Trump administration now appears to agree. Hamilton told Senators that he believes the agency is important, and can do a better job providing timely assistance after disasters.
“"I believe states need to receive better customer service."”
If confirmed, Hamilton will take over the agency just as it landed a hurricane season gets underway, and, as above average, wildfire risk threatens much of the West. Rebecca Hershey and Pierre News. "A conservative Oklahoma pastor has suspended his congressional campaign a day after advancing to a run-off in a crowded Republican primary from member station KOSU and a Pope reports."
Jackson Lawmeyer is a pastor at Sheridan Church in Tulsa, who founded a group called "Pastors for Trump." He was widely seen as a favorite for Oklahoma's first congressional district following a may endorsement from President Trump. However, earlier this week, following reports of suggestive texts, lawmeyer addressed the
messages and a relationship that he says crossed boundaries with a former staffer. In a social media post lawmeyer writes that he does not want to be a distraction to his family, church, and constituency. The president switched his endorsement to Mark Tedford, who won the most votes in the Republican primary.
“He will now automatically move on to face Democratic candidate former Tulsa school board member”
John Krasont. For NPR News, I'm Anna Pope and Oklahoma City. "Egypt and Iran will square off next week in a World Cup match in Seattle, coinciding with the city's celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. The countries are two of the most repressive for the LGBTQ people.
They have asked for the celebration to be canceled. Seattle organizers hope the match will contribute to positive change. This is NPR." Luigi Mangione will assert a psychiatric defense at his murder trial for the killing of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
Mangione's lawyers told the court that they will attempt to show that he was suffering from "extreme emotional disturbance" at the time of the occurrence. If a jury agrees it could convict him of manslaughter instead of murder, meaning he'd be sentenced to less time in prison. Stephen Colbert got one last singer in at his former employer, CBS, and it's cost the
network money over some iconic music, and appears on a silkest as more. Linison Lucy is a world famous peanut son, written by composer Vince Garaldi, and the owner of that music, Lee Mendelssohn, film productions, goes after illegal use assiduously. On his last night hosting on May 21st, Stephen Colbert did a short segment about it.
Now, peanuts is a powerful brand and corporation in and of itself.
And well, we can't play the next part, because the late show Houseband, Louis Kato, and the great big joy machine started to play Linison Lucy. The peanuts right told us promptly went after CBS, which has paid an undisclosed licensing fee. The peanuts right told us have donated all that money to World Central Kitchen, the disaster
relief nonprofit. On his desert silkest and peer news, New York. Scientists have found evidence of the oldest known plague dating back about 5,500 years ago, some 200 years earlier than previously thought researchers found ancient DNA from the plague causing bacteria in teeth from remains buried in four Siberian cemeteries.
