A dangerous heat wave is spreading from the Midwest to the East Coast, just as millions

Forecasters say temperatures could climb into the upper 90s and lower 100s and parts of the Northeast with high humidity pushing the heat index even higher. Steve Kestonbaum reports that New York City could see its hottest independent stay in more than a decade." put the city's heat emergency plan into effect. If the forecast holds, this could be the hottest Fourth of July since 2010. The dangerous heat comes at a busy time in New York with World Cup crowds here, dozens of tall ships periating in sale to 50 on Friday and Saturday, and the Fourth of July

It is of immense concern given that too often the heat is something that is underestimated. The city is opening dozens of cooling centers and setting up drinking water stations.

Starting today, Medicare beneficiaries can get access to popular obesity drugs for $50 a month. NPR, Sidney Lupkin, has more on the new option. The Medicare Bridge Program gives beneficiaries access to Wugovie, Zapbound, and Fondale for $50 monthly co-pays, but not everyone is eligible.
“As limited to patients with Medicare Part D coverage, who have a body mass index of over 35,”
or who have a BMI of over 27, and other qualifying conditions. Patients will also need their doctors to fill out prior authorization, worms, and get them approved before Medicare will cover the drugs. being able to look at this, see how successful it is, and hopefully continue into the future. The temporary test program will run through the end of 2027. Sidney Lupkin and PR news. This is NPR. Artificial intelligence company, anthropic, says the US government, has lifted export restrictions
on two of its most advanced AI models. The company had pulled them offline weeks ago after the government raised national security concerns about making the technology available overseas, and PR's John Ruich reports. Anthropic said on the social media platform, the Commerce Department has lifted export controls on its Fable Five and Mythos Five models.
It says it'll begin restoring access on Wednesday. The Commerce Department did not respond to an email request for comment, anthropic pulled down Fable and Mythos after the Trump administration imposed export restrictions on them earlier this month. Those restrictions banned foreigners from using the models, including foreign nationals
working for Anthropic. The Trump administration has been increasing its oversight of new AI models, asking to vet lists of companies granted early access to cutting-edge AI. It wasn't immediately clear why it decided to roll back the export restrictions on Anthropics models, but the two sides had been in talks to resolve the issue, John Ruich and PR News.
The bronze James is officially moving on from the Los Angeles Lakers. The NBA's all-time leading score has told the team, who play elsewhere for his 24th season, ending in eight-year run in LA. James helped lead the Lakers to the 2020 NBA championship and became the league's all-time scoring leader during his time with the franchise.
