“- President Trump kicked off the nation's 250th birthday celebration”
with a speech at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota last night.
Trump used the address to urge Republicans to back his legislative agenda ahead of this year's midterm elections. - We can only lose the midterms if we allow ourselves to lose the midterms if we are foolish, stupid, and unwise. But if we terminate the filibuster as we should do,
and immediately vote for the Save America Act, then we will not lose. - The Fourth of July celebration moves to Washington DC. Today, work crowds are expected on the national mall for concerts, military flyovers,
and the annual fireworks display. The President will address the crowd as a part of the administration's freedom to 50 celebration. A heat wave is affecting many parts of the United States, this Fourth of July, and PRs in New Lupkin reports hospitals
are preparing for an increase in visits to the emergency room. - In this past week, Dr. Ryan Stanton has seen two golfers, two gardeners, an airport worker, and a couple of construction workers
“in his Lexington Kentucky ER with heat-related illness.”
- It's been a little bit of everybody, and I know everybody wants to get out there and enjoy this, this time of year, but boy, it is, if it were a dry heat, then maybe a little bit better, but it is not, in most of the country, it is a wet human blanket.
- Stanton is the President elect of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He says humidity makes it harder for our bodies to handle the heat. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,

- New research finds that certain parenting practices affect teen news of screens and social media. NPR's Retude Chattergy reports the study followed nearly 8,000 young people across the US.
“- The research has found that when parents use a screen-based”
device in front of their kids, their teen is more likely to have high-screen time and addictive use of social media.
More than a third of families,
that they watch a screen during meal times, which was in turn linked to higher teen screen time. And nearly half of all teens, said they have access to a screen and bed, which was also associated with more time spent on smartphones.
The researchers recommend establishing family rules around screen time, including removing screen-based devices during meals and at bedtime. And that parents should also follow those rules to support healthiest screen habits in their teenagers,

knocked down power lines and capsized a boat, killing at least three people. While worth county, under Sheriff Tom Halsner says emergency crews were quickly overwhelmed. - Multiple reports of 911 calls were coming in
of trees down buildings being damaged, people trapped in collapse buildings. - Authorities say seven people were rescued from the overturned boat as crews continue clearing debris and restoring power.
