Funeral services for Iran's Supreme Leader continued today in Tehran, and P.R.'s ideal

al-Shashi reports he and four members of his family were killed by the U.S. is where

the year strikes four months ago. Tens of thousands of Iranians lined up to perform the ritual Islamic funeral prayers facing the caskets of Ayatollah Ali Hamanay and his four family members. Iranian state media showed Iranian military and political official sobbing as they performed the prayers.

Water sprayed over the mourners to keep them cool as the temperatures reached the 90s. Three of Hamanay's sons were seen at the prayers, missing was his fourth son, Mustafa Hamanay, who took over a supreme leader from his father. A funeral preparation spokesperson said the funeral was delayed until now because of the war, Hamanay will be buried in his birthplace of Meshad on Thursday.

Hadil al-Shashi and P.R. News, Istanbul. The U.S. soccer star, the forward for Lauren Bolgan, will be allowed to play in the World Cup high stakes game against Belgium tomorrow.

FIFA is listing the strikers' red card ban, and P.R.'s Becky Sullivan reports.

U.S. striker Flan-Balligan was shown the red card in the last Wednesday's match against

Bosnia Herzegovina, the referee had first declined to call the foul of any kind, but

a video official stepped in after reviewing the play in slow motion. Normally a red card would mean a suspension in the following game. In the phone call, within Fintino, Trump won it to understand why the red card was given, and why a suspension was necessary, according to an official with knowledge of the call who was granted anonymity to discuss a private conversation.

The news of the call coupled with FIFA's decision to allow Balligan to play has ignited a huge response in the soccer world. Belgium's football Federation said they were astonished by the decision and would pursue any path to recourse. Becky Sullivan and P.R. News Seattle.

The CDC has lacked a permanent director for most of the Trump administration.

His NPR's ping-wong reports recently released emails highlight the challenges the new administrator

is going to face at CDC. Dr. Erica Schwartz, Trump's nominee for CDC Director, is expected to have a confirmation hearing before the Senate Health Committee, the month. Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont is a ranking member. He recently released more than 250 pages of internal emails provided by Dr. Deb Hary, a top

CDC official who quit last August. They show CDC career scientists, pushing back against changes to vaccine policies, requested by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his political appointees. Dr. Demetri Descalacas, a former CDC official who quit with Hary, says he sought to document the conflicts of interest in anti-science moves he saw.

And, frankly, it becomes really clear that this is public health by vides as opposed to public health by data. A new CDC director would have to navigate layers of political reviews now required at the agency, ping-wong and PR news, and you're listening to NPR news from Washington. A potential competitor to the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ begins operations Monday.

The Dallas-based Texas Stock Exchange will initiate a phased robot as the market eventually expands. They'll add corporate clients this summer and the public can eventually start trading online. The massive heat wave collided with more than just the 4th of July celebrations in Pittsburgh, it was the 20th anniversary of AnthroCon, the annual convention for the furry fandom.

Jenna Post from Member Station W. E. S.A. reports. The heat wave hardly slowed down the furries at AnthroCon. The largest furry fandom convention in the world, according to organizers, despite the heat index exceeding 100 degrees, many attendees still wore full fur suits. Organizers say weekend passes sold out early Friday for the first time in the convention

history.

And visit Pittsburgh estimates nearly $18.6 million in visitor spending.

Mayor Corrio Conner says AnthroCon has become a Pittsburgh tradition. Fourth of July festivities, we know that the furries are going to be a mix in Pittsburgh for that weekend. The weather ultimately led to the cancellation of the parade and block party, a tradition that draws furries and local families, but it didn't stop a record breaking 20th anniversary.

For MPR News, I'm Jenna Post in Pittsburgh.
