The firestorm keeps growing around the US men's national soccer team and it's game
“today against Belgium in the FIFA World Cup.”
The team's star striker is expected to play today despite being shown a red card last week for stepping on an opposing player's ankle, and Pierre's a Becky Sullivan reports. Philar and Balagan said the concept was unintentional, and then he felt a yellow card would have been a better call, but he accepted the referee's decision and had expected to sit out.
When came Sunday's extraordinary events, FIFA's highly unusual decision to allow him to play, then the news that President Trump had personally called Johnny and Fintino the head of FIFA to request a review. Infintino says Trump's call had no bearing on the Balagan decision. US soccer officials say they followed FIFA regulations and responding to and challenging
the disciplinary decision. One issue in question was the video referees use of slow motion reply to escalate the call to a red card in spite of the referee on the field thinking it hadn't been a foul at all. Becky Sullivan and Pierre News see at all. President Trump says he's building a granite helipad on the White House lawn.
The project's estimated to cost up to $6 million and is said to be privately funded.
Trump says the helipad is needed for new, more powerful presidential helicopters. Construction crews have already begun work on the south lawn. Trump says a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin is covering the costs. He says the helipad will also be used for other events like outdoor news conferences. Dean Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, Graham Platner, is denying allegations of sexual
assault that were reported today by Politico. Regardless of the inaccuracy of the reporting, the mindful of the political reality won't affect. We were taking the time to reflect on the best path forward for the state that I love, the people that I love, the movement I belong to, and the goal of defeating Susan Collins.
The story alleges that five years ago Platner forced a woman who is dating to have sex with him despite her repeated objections, and PR has not independently verified these allegations.
“Platner is facing incumbent Republicans, Susan Collins, Democrats believe the race is key”
to their chances of winning control of the Senate during this year's elections. OPEC and its allies are promising to boost oil production next month, and PR's Scott Horsey reports U.S. drivers are getting a bit of a break at the gas pump. Saudi Arabia, another major oil exporters, promised to increase pumping by nearly 200,000 barrels a day next month, putting more downward pressure on prices.
That would be the fifth consecutive production increase, though not all that oil is actually making it to market due to ongoing tension in the straight-to-four moves. Retail gasoline prices have also been falling, dribble a set of the average price of regular gas is now $3.79 a gallon. That's about 40 cents less than a month ago, but still about 80 cents higher than when
the U.S. launched its war with Iran. Scott Horsey, in Pairney, was Washington. A rebound for AI stocks lifted the U.S. market today. The S&P 500 rose nearly three quarters of a percent, even though the majority of stocks within the index fell.

New research finds even moderate sleep deprivation, about an hour and a half less than
the recommended seven to eight hours can lead to weight gain in a matter of weeks. NPR's Maria Gadoi has more. Previous research has shown that severe sleep deprivation, snoozing around four or five hours night, can lead to changes in appetite and overeating, which can lead to weight gain over time. Researchers wanted to know if more moderate sleep loss had similar effects.
So they recruited 95 adults who normally got seven to eight hours of sleep to go to bed about 90 minutes later than usual. After six weeks of getting just five or six hours of sleep nightly, participants gained an average of one pound. In the amount of time they spent being sedentary jumped by 20 to 30 minutes a day.
The researchers note that getting around six hours of sleep night is not uncommon for many Americans. Over a year, the pounds could add up. The findings appear in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
