is pressing Graham Platner to withdraw as the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Maine,

Platner is facing growing calls from lawmakers to step aside after sexual assault

allegation. And PR's at Sam Greenglass has more. In a statement, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, that Democratic Senator L. campaign committee chair, called the allegations incredibly disturbing, and say the D.S.C. will not invest in the Maine Senate race if Platner

remains on the ballot. That's after Politico reported the account of a woman who dated Platner. She alleges he entered her home uninvited and intoxicated and forced her to have sex despite her saying no. NPR has not independently verified the allegation.

Platner denies it categorically. Platner exits the race by July 13th, Maine's Democratic Party could select a replacement to face Republican Senator Susan Collins in a race that could determine control of the Senate. Sam Greenglass and PR News Washington.

Belgium is winning two to one over the U.S. at halftime in the world cup round of 16

match in Seattle. President Trump is taking credit for getting FIFA to review a red card issued against star U.S. Ford, Philar and Balagin last week, though he told reporters all he did was ask FIFA President Gianni and Fantino for a review. decades. China says the missile carried a dummy warhead, and was part of routine training. Europe is in the grip of a third heat wave as the summer gets underway, and PR's Eleanor Beardsley reports Spain, Portugal, France, and the UK are all seeing scorching temperatures.

Their castors say the latest heat wave is driven by a new heat dome, the same weather pattern responsible for the previous two heat waves. Temperatures are expected to climb as much as 18 degrees Fahrenheit above average. Forest fires in southern France in the Pyrenees region bordering Spain have already burned more than 11,000 acres and forced 10,000 people to evacuate from nearly 30 villages and towns.
