President Trump is returning home from the NATO summit in Turkey.
“He capped off his visit to Ankara with a few parting shots at some U.S. allies and largely”
deflected questions about the future of the U.S. as real war with Iran. We have more from NPR's Deepa Shiveram. Trump declared that the memorandum of understanding signed between the U.S. and Iran just three weeks ago is now over.
The conflict never fully subsided, but now Trump is threatening to hit civilian infrastructure
in Iran, which experts have warned could constitute a war crime. Before departing Ankara, Trump held a lengthy press conference, defending the war as a success. He said conflict would end soon without providing any details. "Anything that happens is going to be over very quickly. And will only make it safer, including for oil."
