Live from NPR News, I'm Jial Snyder, President Trump is back in Washington, D...

at the White House over night following the NATO summit in Turkey that started with divisions

over the Iran war and ended on a more positive note in Buraz Branko, or Adonias.

I mean, as we know, Trump's long been frustrated with NATO leaders over their lack of support for the US-led war against Iran, but he also made several complaints about them about defense spending. Trump even stoked those tensions in the beginning when he insisted early that the U.S. should again have control of Greenland instead of Denmark, a comment that he knows and even admitted kind of that hurts his relationship with Europe.

But at the press conference, Trump really flipped a script and showered NATO leaders with praise. Trump returned to the White House after the US military said it had completed its latest round of strikes on Iran in a statement. The military said U.S. forces struck some 90 military targets, including air defense systems and drone depots, Tehran fire, back

siren sounded in Bahrain, home to the U.S. Navy's fifth fleet headquarters Kuwait's military

said it intercepted drones and missiles. Democrat Graham Plattener suspended his U.S.

Senate campaign in Maine on Wednesday, days after being accused of raping a former romantic partner Kevin Miller with Maine public reports in a nearly 12 minute video. Plattener says the allegations against him were "not remotely true" but he accused the political establishment of denying his populist campaign the tools it would need to defeat Republican Senator Susan Collins. And as the party seeks a new nominee, Plattener called on Maine's

Democratic leaders to respect the desires of his record numbers of supporters in the June primary. This is exactly the kind of political system that everyone voted against on June 9th. And for that reason, we need to be assured that it is going to be open and democratic as we move forward.

The party has less than three weeks to select a new nominee. For NPR News, I'm Kevin Miller.

Trump accounts are a new investment option parents have for their children's future,

the accounts launched over the weekend for any American under 18. And Piers Steven Besah spoke with financial advisors to find out what family should consider before signing up in investing. Whether parents should invest their own money, depends on if they've already taken advantage of what could be better options.

Kerry Joy Grimes is the CEO of the personal finance company worth money. And she said

one of those options is first, maxing out contributions for your own retirement.

Because what happens is we put money into our kid's stuff and then we end up needing help and retirement, and that is a way worse financial stress on our kids. But if you have a baby born between 2025 and the end of 2028, financial advisors say it's a simple decision. Sign up. Those kids are eligible for a $1,000 contribution from the federal government.
