"Lie from NPR News, I'm Lakshmi Singh.

President Trump says he's agreed to resume talks with Iran, but the June ceasefire is over.

Both sides have been locked in retaliatory strikes over the last few days, as Iran held ceremonies

to mourn slain Supreme Leader Ali Hamanay. Audio of the funeral capture by Reuters, Hamanay was assassinated more than four months to go.

And Pierce Hadeel Al-Shaltu reports ahead of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, rarely

seen in public, called for revenge. Brigadier General Ahmad Wahidi said the death of Ayatullah Ali Hamanay was the beginning of a "new chapter of honor and perseverance in Iran." In a statement he called Hamanay, who was killed at the start of the U.S. Israeli war against Iran, a martyr, and that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard will not rest until justice

is served. The Hadeel occasionally issues public statements, his attendance at Hamanay's funeral was the first public appearance since the start of the war. Hadeel publicly performed funeral prayers with three of Hamanay's sons, Hamanay's fourth

son and current Iranian leader was not seen during the week-long funeral procession.

"In Venezuela, survivors of the earthquakes that killed nearly 4,000 people last month.

Now face-growing risks from poor sanitary conditions and overcrowded shelters. John Otis has a latest. Nearly all quake survivors with no place to go are living intense and underneath tarps in shelters like this one in Akadak, as baseball park. It's one of more than 80 shelters that have sprung up for some 18,000 people whose homes

were destroyed. Perhaps the World Health Organization warns of disease outbreaks, poor sanitation, and a lack of access to clean water in the shelters. Another problem is a shortage of health professionals. Thousands fled the country during an economic crisis.

In addition, many health workers in Lagoya state, the region hardest hit by the quakes,

were killed, have gone missing, or lost their homes.

Or NPR News, I'm John Otis." "The FIFA World Cup is now in the quarter final stage, Spain and Belgium are facing each other this hour in Los Angeles. Steve Futterman is at the match." Spain has a great young player, 18-year-old Lamin Yamal, and he has really not come through

like we expected him to. He's turning 19 on Monday. He's had only one goal in this World Cup. He's had lingering hamstrings, but they say he is ready now, and a lot of people think that this could be a showcase for him today.

So look for him, this superstar in the making." Tomorrow, it's Norway against England and Argentina versus Switzerland. This is NPR News. The federal panel has advanced President Trump's proposed 250 foot arch to the next stage of review.

There's Rachel Treesman reports that it's also "garing up for a debate over its height." The National Capital Planning Commission approved the arch's preliminary site and building plans, after hearing more than two hours of public pushback on Thursday. It wants the Department of the Interior to come back in September with more details about things like pedestrian access and lighting plans.

The Commission chair, a Trump appointee, says that's when it will consider whether DC's "hight limits apply to the arch." The administration is arguing that federal projects should be exempt, which contradicts decades of precedent. The Commission's lawyer says changing that could reshape the city.

Rachel Treesman and PR News China says it has successfully tested a C-based rocket booster recovery system. Chess Marcia first time China has successfully pulled off a reusable rocket retrieval. The line camonds in Ruby has more. China is the second nation to ever recover an orbital-class rocket successfully.

The test marks unattempted to break the U.S. historic dominance in the reusable rocket space. It comes after the U.S. Australia and Taiwan hit back at the Chinese ballistic missile launch earlier this week that's flashed down in the Southern Pacific Ocean.
