The Trump administration has rescinded its effort to freeze $10 billion in social service
funding for five Democratic-led states.
“And here's Jennifer Luden reports, officials had accused the states of benefits abroad.”
In January, the Trump administration announced a freeze in childcare subsidies at Cashite to California, New York, Colorado, Illinois, and Minnesota. Officials pointed to a years-long benefit scandal in Minnesota, and claimed there was ongoing fraud in the five states, but offered no evidence. The state sued, noting that stopping funds for those programs would hit hard for hundreds
of thousands of low-income families. A federal judge had blocked the move. In a letter filed with the court, the Department of Health and Human Services does not explain why it's canceling that freeze. Trump administration officials have repeatedly tried to block social safety net funding and
repeatedly faced pushback from courts. Jennifer Luden and Pierre News, Washington. The House today successfully voted to make daylight saving time permanent.
“As in here, as Elena Moore reports, if the Senate follows suit, Americans will no longer”
have to change their clocks back in our every winter. The bill passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 308 to 117. It's a win for night owls and a blow for early morning risers. Daylight saving time has long been a divisive issue, and though there have been political efforts to make it permanent in the past, they've fallen short.
Last time lawmakers got this close was in 2022, when the Senate approved the Sunshine Protection
Act, but it never passed the House.
Now this new bill heads to the Senate, and if it passes, President Trump has indicated he'll sign it. Elena Moore and Pierre News. In men's World Cup soccer, Spain, beat France, that too nil to advance to the finals, Spain's second trip to a World Cup final, and they will play the winner of the other

“Walls treated it a busy week with markets mostly flat, and Pierre Steven Visaha has more.”
Prices rose 3.5% in June, year over year, high, but not nearly as much as in May, which saw the highest inflation in more than three years. Moon's lower inflation was driven by a drop in gas prices, before at the war of Iran heated back up, appearing on Capitol Hill on the heels of the latest government numbers, Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Worst committed to fighting inflation.
The members of our committee have no tolerance for persistently elevated inflation, and we share a resolute commitment to ensure price stability. Worst did not say he would raise interest rates this year, but interest rate hikes are the Fed's main tool for fighting inflation, Steven Visaha and Pierre News. By the close, the Dow was up nine points NASDAQ up 233 US futures contracts are trading

They lit a fire outside the facility and blocked the main road leading to it. Rwompara Hospital is located in it to reprovance, the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak in Congo. Recently, Congolese authorities said they are conducting a verification process to identify people employed to deal with the outbreak. Claiming that the names of some unapproved individuals had been added to the payroll.
The World Health Organization recently warned that the Ebola outbreak in Congo is still spreading. For NPR News, I'm my colloquy in Nairobi. New York is blocking large new data centers that fuel artificial intelligence for up to a year to protect the environment and the energy grid.
It's the first state, wide moratorium on hyperscale data centers in the country.
These facilities require massive energy and water to cool thousands of servers. The order will pause to stay permanent and direct regulators to create standards addressing environmental impacts and the energy demand. Tech companies argue this could hurt job growth and seed ground to China in AI development once up and running though data centers are not major employers.
The decision also carries political significance for the governor's reelection campaign. I'm Janine Herbst and PR News in Washington. This is Tanya Mosley, co-host to fresh air. From mail-in ballots to racial gerrymandering, a lot is at stake for America's free and fear elections.
I spoke with journalist Ari Burman about what he calls a final blow to the voting rights act. My fear is that we are returning to a politics of Jim Crow in the South.
