Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Windsor, Johnston.

The United States and Iran have exchanged another round of strikes as their fight over control of the Strait of Hormuz grows more intense, the latest attacks targeted in military and infrastructure sites across the region, extending the conflict into a seventh-strait night, and PR's Emily Fang reports. U.S. sent com said it did launch strikes at military and surveillance sites across Iran

without specifying the number of targets. Iran alleged the U.S. hit civilian sites as well, including a water desalination plant.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had targeted U.S. military assets in

Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan in retaliation. Bahrain's defense ministry said it intercepted several Iranian aerial attacks. Kuwait said it had to cancel flights, and that one of its power in water desalination plans was hit by an Iranian attack.

Earlier in Iranian news agencies said Tehran could go after five key ports in the

Middle East hosting U.S. military or commercial interests. In retaliation for a U.S. hit on a maritime control tower at Iranian port in the city of Chahubar. Emily Fang in peer news. Relentless rain has triggered historic flooding across South Central Texas, swapping multiple communities and prompting more rescues.

Governor Greg Abbott has issued a major disaster declaration for the hardest take

For NPR news, I'm Blaise Gany. There's been heavy betting ahead of Sunday's World Cup final. Prediction Market, Kalshi has emerged as a major player, as a legal fight continues over who should regulate the industry. NPR's Bobby Allen reports.

Kalshi has the support of the Trump administration importantly. The company has argued it is a type of financial product known as an events contract and federal regulators agree. That's allowed. Kalshi and the entire prediction market sector to really boom.

Bending on Kalshi has grown 700 percent in just one year.

There are dozens of lawsuits involving Kalshi over who should exactly regulate the industry that states or the federal government. It's a big existential fight for the companies and there is a lot of money on the line for the states.

NPR's Bobby Allen reportings, Spain and Argentina will face often the World Cup final on Sunday.

Kickoff at MetLife Stadium in northern New Jersey is set for 3pm eastern time. This is NPR News. Bungal services have been scheduled for U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, who died last week and after a brief illness. Graham's communications team says three services will be held later this month to honor his

life and legacy. One will take place at Washington National Cathedral with two others planned in South Carolina. Federal regulators say they will once again allow Boeing to certify that its planes are airworthy. NPR still rose for ports Friday's announcement comes after years of safety efforts at the aerospace giant.

The Federal Aviation Administration says Boeing can take responsibility for certifying all of its 737 Macs and 787 planes starting next week. It's a big milestone for the plane maker. The FAA revoked Boeing's ability to self-certify its 737 Macs planes in 2019 after a pair of deadly crashes.

Regulators did the same for the 787 Dreamliner in 2022 citing production quality issues. The FAA now says it has confidence in Boeing to ensure that all of its planes are airworthy after months of data and safety reviews. The agency is also easing the monthly production caps it imposed on the 737 Macs, allowing Boeing to make up to 47 per month.
