Homeland Security Secretary Mark Wain Mullen is warning state and local election officials

they could face prison time if they do not comply with President Trump's demands to change

election policies. Mullen's escalation attempts by the Trump administration, defederalized elections, comes a day after the President delivered a prime time address accusing China of interfering in the 2020 election. NPR White House Correspondent Franco Erdonia's report some Republicans were concerned about the tone of the President's address.

There were a lot of concerns actually ahead of the speech that this could hurt Republicans and make them look at a touch. I mean, many Republicans have been clamoring for a while now that Trump should focus on the economy, especially those Republicans who are running for reelection and swing districts. The Trump has not really heated those requests, even announcing he would not sign a very popular

bill to lower housing costs out of protests actually for the party not doing more on this issue. President Trump's nominee for Attorney General Todd Blanche met with victims of the late

sex offender Jeffrey Epstein hours after a key Republican Senator demanded Blanche do so

as a condition to support his nomination NPR's Ryan Lucas reports. The ultimatum that Blanche meet with Epstein survivors came from North Carolina Republican

Senator Tom Tillis, who's vote is critical for Blanche's nomination to advance.

Hours later, Blanche found time to sit down with a group of Epstein's victims who had been trying for months to arrange just such a meeting. Afterwards, Tillis commended Blanche for sitting down with the women and his quote willingness to directly engage and listen to them and quote, "But Epstein survivors who were in the meeting say Blanche treated it as a check the box exercise."

One survivor, Annie Farmer, said Blanche was abrasive, condescending and intentionally non-committal in the meeting, and she, like other Epstein victims, urged senators to reject Blanche's nomination to lead the Justice Department, Ryan Lucas and PR News, Washington. Monday will be a big day in London with the election of a new Prime Minister NPR's Lorne Frazier reports.

Burnham succeeds caretaker Prime Minister Starmer, whom polls showed failed to convince voters that change was coming and mid-rising costs of living and slow growth.

In his first speech as ruling party leader Burnham said the UK has quote, "turned its

back on working class communities that were once the center left labor party's base."

"That's what we're going to do, everybody. We're going to give them hope back."

He promised to unite his party, reverse the privatization of various industries, and devolve power away from the capital to municipal and regional authorities. Burnham's expected to meet the king and get sworn in as Prime Minister on Monday, Lauren Frazier and PR News London. And for Washington, you're listening to NPR.
