Conservative congressman Andy Biggs, Trump's Pick for Arizona governor, also won the Republican nomination. Biggs refused to certify the 2020 election results over Trump's unverified claims that the election was stolen. If elected, Biggs would have power over the election process in the swing state. Biggs will challenge Democratic Governor Katie Hobbes for the office. Hobbes is considered one of the most vulnerable Democratic incumbents this mid-term.

storm warnings remain in effect from the Western Florida Panhandle across coastal Alabama
and Mississippi into Louisiana. The National Hurricane Center in Florida says Bertha will likely weaken in the coming days after it brings strong winds and heavy rains to coastal communities along the Gulf. Bertha's top sustained winds remain at 50 miles per hour. A bridge linking the US and Canada is set to open next week. Officials in Ottawa say there will be no joint ceremony when it does. As Dan Carpenshack reports, Canada's government
sites ongoing trade tensions between the two countries. Rather than opening with pomp and a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the long-delayed Gordi-Howbridge between Windsor and Detroit will just open. A statement from Ottawa said in light of the trade action threatened by the US earlier this week, it would be inappropriate to proceed with a celebratory event between the two countries. The statement comes a day after President
Trump announced an additional 50% tariff on a range of Canadian goods to take effect in less than 30 days. Canada says it remains committed to opening the bridge in the milestone will be celebrated among Canadians on Friday.
