Dr. Anthony Fauci, the person most identified with the federal public health response to
“the COVID pandemic, invoked the Fifth Amendment today, repeatedly, when he was on Capitol”
Hill, and PR's Jonathan Lambert reports the veteran infectious disease expert declined to answer any questions, including from the Republican Committee Chair Rand Paul, during a hearing about the origins of the virus. Dr. Fauci and Senator Paul have long spared over the coronavirus pandemic, days before this hearing, Paul released over a thousand pages of Fauci's private writings, accusing
him of covering up the origins of COVID-19. Fauci pointed out that he has responded to similar questions in previous testimony, and Fauci accused the Senator of being obsessed with trying to get him behind bars. Although it pains me to do so, because of the respect I have for the legislative branch of government under the advice of my attorneys, I will invoke my right under the Fifth
Amendment to the Constitution to refrain from answering your questions. Senator Paul and other lawmakers continued asking questions, and Fauci continued declining to answer. Jonathan Lambert and PR News.
“If Democrats want to win elections with a broad coalition of voters, a new report suggests”
they need to focus on the economy, as NPR's Tamar Kee reports there's a divide between the party's college-educated liberal base and the working class voters it needs to win over. The report called the Left Coalition Crisis says Democrats are losing support from working class voters, because they focus on a whole lot of issues that aren't top priorities for
those voters. Joan Williams, a law professor from San Francisco, is co-author of the report.
The first thing that Democrats who care about culture issues have to do, and I realize
this is counterintuitive, is center working class economics, and not only prices, but also wages and economic opportunities.
