President Trump says some mid-East countries have reached the outline of a deal to end
“the war with Iran because of that he said in the late night social media post Saturday”
that he'll hold off on ordering news strikes in the five-month-old conflict, but Trump has made a number of similar claims in the past that have turned out to be false. Investors hoping to get a jump on White House announcements can now buy early access to President Trump's posts on social media. This new arrangement is raising major ethical issues as NPR's Bobby Allen tells us.
Trump's announcements about government policy, conflicts in the Middle East, and other developments can send company share prices up or down, so getting Trump's post even a few moments faster could make a difference with stock trading. This is just a very unusual product for a president to be selling his social media posts and it's led to a fair amount of concern in Washington and on Wall Street.
The special early access to Trump's posts began on Saturday and his targeting special computerized trading firms. Much of Spokane Washington is under evacuation orders because of wildfires burning at the

The first fire ignited Saturday around noon in a tinder-dry state park northwest of
the city. High winds quickly blew the flames across the Spokane River toward a suburban neighborhood. Local authorities worried about entire blocks of houses going up in Spokane and declared "go now" evacuations from much of the city's northwest sector. Within a few hours, several other fires ignited northwest and northeast of the city.
Several thousand acres have been charred. Fire crews from around the northwest have arrived to help. Several homes have burned, though the exact count is unknown. The local utility has preemptively shut down powered thousands of homes in high-risk fire areas. The city of Spokane has opened its convention center as a shelter for fire

“Time is running out for registering to vote in this year's primary elections in some”
states and Pierce Hansi-Lawong runs down the list of upcoming deadlines. Eligible voters in Wyoming, when it gas balance in the state's August 18th primary, have until Monday to get in their mail and registration application. Though in-person sign-ups are available through Wyoming's primary day. For Connecticut's August 11th primary election, registering in-person ends on August 10th
at 12 p.m. local time. August 10th is also the last day in Rhode Island, a registered in-person by mail or in-line before that states September 9th primary. If you've already signed up to vote, you may want to go to your election officials website and check your registration status before your state's deadline.
Election officials may remove your name from their list, especially if you've recently moved to change your name or haven't voted in a while. If you're planning to mail your application, election officials recommend sending it at least a week before the deadline on Zilawong and PR news. And you're listening to NPR news.
At least three people are dead and seven others injured after a shooting at a fast food restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, Saturday afternoon, police say officers responding to the shooting found the shooter's body near the restaurant and he's also dead, but it's not clear so far just how he died. An investigation is underway, and police say they do not know the motivation for the attack.
The United Kingdom last year recorded the biggest rise in anti-Semitic incidents of any country with a major Jewish population, that's according to a new report on anti-Semitism and the Jewish diaspora. And PR's Lauren Freer reports from London. The J7 Task Force Tally's anti-Semitism in the seven largest Jewish diaspora countries. Together, they're home to more than 90% of the world's Jews outside Israel.
Of those countries, the UK had the biggest spike in anti-Semitic incidents last year. Australia had the deadliest with 15 people killed at Hanukkah event on Sydney's Bondi Beach. Overall, 2025 was the deadliest year for Jews living outside Israel in more than three decades.
The UK government recently allocated more than $330 million to boost police protection
for Jewish communities, and an independent review of anti-Semitism in schools and colleges is due this autumn. Lauren Freer and PR News London. Here, Rock and Turkey signed a deal Saturday that will allow Baghdad to transport crude oil to a port in Turkey. The agreement to versify is Iraq's oil export roots and reduces its reliance on Gulf shipping lanes. The deal is effective for one year and allows the export
