Lala is now a category one hurricane, bringing high winds and rain to the big island of Hawaii.

Governor Josh Green says the entire state of Hawaii will feel the impact of Lala as it moves across or close to the island chain this weekend. Hawaii Island is expected to get the strongest winds and heaviest rains throughout much of the day on Saturday. The National Hurricane Center says 10 to 20 inches of rainfall is likely on the island with
some spots getting as much as 25 inches. One unusual characteristic of this storm is the large size of its wind field. That means that whatever happens with the center of the storm, its impacts will be felt more than 200 miles in all directions.

Maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour have been recorded. Iran is accusing Qatar of holding three of its military pilots who have been missing since March.
“Iranian officials said the pilots were captured when their fighter jets were shot down.”
NPR's Hadeel Alshalchi reports. Iranian armed forces missing persons committees said the three pilots went missing early in the war with the US and Israel when their jets were hit by "enemy defenses" and they ejected in a statement the committee said that the Qatar military was holding them and hadn't allowed them in to contact their families or Iranian officials.
Hadeel's military said in March that its air force shot down two Iranian bomber jets, but it did not immediately respond to Iran's latest accusations. Iran said until now there was no information on the soldiers and called on the Red Cross to intervene and investigate the pilot's conditions. Hadeel Alshalchi and PR News Istanbul.

Congressional forecasters said this week they expect the federal government will run a deficit of more than $2 trillion this year. That's pushing the government's overall debt close to the $40 trillion mark and just the interest on all that debt is now the government's second biggest expense, trailing only social security. And the investors who lend money to the government by buying bonds, they are demanding
higher interest rates now, some of the highest rates in decades.
