President Trump is dismissing concerns about conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.
“The Pentagon says a replacement ship is on the way, speaking to reporters.”
Trump said the carrier's record deployment of more than 250 consecutive days at sea is not nearly long enough. "Well, no, that ship is moving right now. We're very shortly, and it's being replaced with another very similar ship." "No, no, no. Not nearly long enough."
Families and lawmakers' abraised concerns about food shortages, plumbing problems, and the cruise mental health. The Navy says the USS George Washington is heading to the Arabian sea to replace the Lincoln. Military officials say the carrier swap was planned before the reports about conditions became public.

Forecasters are warning of damaging winds, flash flooding, and mudslides across the island chain. Honolulu Mayor Rick Blanchiardi is warning that strong winds could fuel wildfires. "We are on full alert, and we will continue to evolve at our preparedness. I asked the public to please stay tuned. Watch your media outlets. If you have H&L alert, pay attention. Emergency crews in Indonesia are searching for survivors after a powerful earthquake struck
the region early this morning, leading at least 38 people dead. Michael Sullivan reports that aftershocks continued to shake the area. The most significant damage occurred on the eastern island of Flores. Rescue workers are still trying to reach other communities closer to the epicenter. Their progress is being

Inflation cooled a bit in July as both gasoline and grocery prices fell, the cost of living overall was up 3.4 percent from a year ago. Expectations at the Federal Reserve will feel the need to raise interest rates next month.
After somewhat tamer inflation report, the Fed will get one more monthly check on prices before it's next rate-setting meeting. Retail spending fell by 6/10 of a percent last month, the bigger drop than forecasters expected. The downshift was partly the result of Amazon's decision to hold its prime day sales event earlier, shifting some online spending into June. For the week, the Dow slipped half a percent, while the Nasdaq rose, a tenth of a percent,

The copper-rich Southern African country and former British colony is used to peaceful transfers of power. But local rights groups had expressed concern of what they said was an atmosphere of intimidation leading up to these elections.
