Live from NPR News in Washington, I'm Ryland Barton.

The stage is set to replace outgoing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Congressman Byron Donalds,

when the Republican nomination Democrats picked former Congressman David Jolly, that's according

to a race call from the Associated Press. Jolly was a Republican and Congress leader switch to independent and last year became a Democrat. Florida hasn't had a Democratic governor in decades as Kathryn Welch reports. There is some precedent in the state for a party switcher to win an election. So, you know, in November, the independence get to China.

This was kind of a closed primary where you had to be a Republican or Democrat registered vote. So, we'll see what these independence have to say. Come November. Kathryn Welch reporting, Wyoming and Alaska also have primaries today in Alaska 16 candidates

are running for U.S. Senate. But top four vote getters will advance. That includes former Democratic Congresswoman Mary Peltolla, incumbent Republican Senator

Dan Sullivan, and a Republican retired teacher also named Dan Sullivan.

The race could play a pivotal role in control of the Senate. The United Arab Emirates says Iran fired two missiles toward it, Iran denies the allegation. ZZ Top gained steady recognition for their rawlicking blues based sound through the 1970s and 80s. Guitarist Billy Gibbons and Basis Dusty Hill also became known for their matching sunglasses

and long beards. But Frank Beard ironically enough spent most of his time in the band as its unbearded member. Following news of Beard's death, Gibbons issued a statement on Beard's passing, saying

"his signature backbeat was key to keeping ZZ on top."

According to Gibbons, ZZ Top will resume its current tour this weekend. Isabel Goma's Sarmiento and Pier News? Residents of the Swiss village of Condor Steck face a looming threat from an unstable mountain rock formation called Spitzit-Stye. The formation could trigger a massive landslide.
