of Canadian imports following the breakdown of trade talks Friday night. Canada says it will match those tariffs dollar for dollar. The Supreme Court Friday allowed the construction of the White House ballroom to continue at least until the court considers an emergency appeal from the Trump administration, a lower court had ordered that the construction stopped Friday.
President Trump was in South Carolina where he responded to the ruling. I just want to thank the Supreme Court and the Chief Justice, and we have a ruling that it's preceded when they say preceding.

Nothing's easy today.
President Trump meanwhile is threatening a prominent liberal think tank with a $5 million
defamation lawsuit. If it doesn't retract a published report, that report found his deployment of national guard troops to Washington, D.C. has done little to reduce violent crime. MPR's Cat Lonstorf has more in that story. One of President Trump's personal lawyers sent a letter to the Center for American
Progress demanding a full retraction of the report. The letter at which MPR has read said that the report was full of quote false and malicious claims. In a statement, cat president and CEO near a tandem who served as a senior advisor to President Biden outlined the research and analysis behind the report, and called the lawsuit
"transparent attempt to silence the organization." She said the report would not be retracted.

Even his Wall Street finished on an up-note on Friday, stocks overall lost ground this week as the federal debt surpassed $40 trillion. As MPR Scott Horsley reports, all of the major stock indices ended the week in the
red. The mounting government debt, along with stubborn inflation, seemed to rattle the bond market, bondholders are demanding higher yields for lending money to the government, and that's driving up borrowing costs for the Treasury and everyone else. Major retailers also sent some cautious signals about a possible slowdown in consumer spending,
Walmart reported it's slow as sales growth at existing stores in almost six years. There were some bright spots in the market, vaccine-maker Moderna stock more than doubled after encouraging results from a clinical trial, but the broader market was down. For the week that Dow Jones industrial average lost 8/10% of the S&P 500 index dropped 1.4% and then as deck fell, 2%.

The U.S. Navy is considering renaming an aircraft carrier after President Trump. The carrier was already slated to be named the USS Doris Miller. He was a black World War II hero.
The super carrier was going to be the first name for an enlisted sailor and the first
to be named for an African-American. You're listening to NPR News. In Texas, city leaders in San Antonio voted to change the name of Caesar Chavez Boulevard that comes after sexual abuse allegations earlier this year against the labor rights activist. In Texas, public radio, joy, palacios reports.
The San Antonio city council voted unanimously to change Caesar Chavez Boulevard to Durango Boulevard. It's actually a reversal in 2011, the council then opted to change Durango, one of its oldest streets to honor Chavez. 15 years later, the backlash has seen his name removed nationwide.
City Councilman Rick Alvand says there are other ways to honor the labor and farm worker movement. Only in San Antonio but throughout the country, without focusing on this one individual, that's not a movement politics is. The city will have to replace more than 100 street and highway signs earlier this year,
both San Antonio and the state of Texas canceled recognized holidays in Chavez's name. I'm Joey Palacios in San Antonio. Windham Clark holds a one stroke lead at the BGA Golf Championship underway in St. Louis after
