Dallypartin has died. "Here she was singing one of her most popular songs, Jolene. Dallypartin was known for her hits as well as for her philanthropy over the course of her more than 60-year career. She also started her nonprofit Imagination Library to send free books to children in Tennessee. Because her father, who quit school to work on the farm, struggled to learn to read."
"I read at school. We had the Bible. Mama read that all the time. So that was my first encounter. Of course, I remember the first book that we have in our Imagination Library is called the
little engine that could. And that little book was amazing to me because it talked about
“same thing. Confidence. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I did."”
Her public says, "Pardon died after a brief battle with cancer. Dallypartin was 80 years old." Ice has recorded nearly 50,000 arrests in July. As NPR has Vanessa Romo reports, "That's the highest monthly arrest total in the agency's history." The surge in arrests averages out to nearly 1,600 apprehensions a day. It tops June's record-breaking number of arrests by 15%. That's based on government data provided by
ICE to the deportation data project at UC Berkeley and UCLA. The project's co-director, Graham Blair, says the uptick is due to a change in tactics. "Clearly they're expanding the ways that they're arresting people at airports in ice check-ins at immigration courthouses." There also notes that the latest figures include the initial wave of arrests of Haitian immigrants,

Ukraine says it is double the use of ground drones in the last six months, and Piero's Joanna Cocacis reports that Ukraine is relying on these drones as it continues to defend itself against Russia. The Ukrainian military says it has carried out more than 100,000 logistics and evacuation missions using unmanned ground vehicles, which are also called land or ground
drones. Ukraine's defense ministry says the number of these missions grows every month. Doubling the use of ground drones this year had been a top priority for me, Hilo Fedorov, the tech savvy former defense minister, fired by President Willodymyr Zelensky last month. The Ukrainian President showcased drone warfare in Mondays and Dependent State Parade,
“which featured 30 ground drones rolling in formation along a main street in Kiev.”

Two people have died of measles in Pennsylvania, health officials in the state, say both individuals were unvaccinated. NPR as Maria Gador reports there are, these are the first two measles deaths reported in the U.S. this year,
and the first in Pennsylvania in 35 years. Officials say both deaths occurred in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The deaths come amid a resurgence of measles in the U.S., which has recorded more than 2,770 cases this year alone. That's the highest number of cases in any year since 1991. Declining vaccination rates have allowed the disease to make a comeback. measles deaths are rare in the U.S. occurring in about one to three out of every 1,000 cases.
Before the first measles vaccines became available in the 1960s, 400 to 500 people in the U.S. died each year from the disease.
