hundreds of people in Nepal into bat with more than 1,000 people still missing among

The head of the UN mission in Nepal, Lila Petersias says the floods have wiped out 35 bridges and destroyed about 25 miles of roads in Nepal, and that's making humanitarian efforts all the more complicated. So you have one municipality where it's impossible to reach by road, and all the aid is being delivered by the government, by helicopter.
She says the Nepalese government is deploying temporary bridges and the UN is trying to help with that.
The UN has offered an initial $2.5 million in humanitarian aid for Nepal, and this was government
is pitching in a million dollars more. Michelle Kellman and PR news, Washington. General safety regulators say defective radio transmissions may have played a part in a mishap earlier this month between a passenger jet and marine one. President Trump was on board the helicopter at the time, as NPR's Joe Hernandez reports.
One afternoon in early August, marine one lifted off near the White House, around the same

in nearby Arlington, Virginia. The National Transportation Safety Board says there may have been a breakdown in communication between the military and air traffic controllers at the airport. According to the agency's preliminary report, marine one radioed the airport twice to notify
controllers they were about to take off.
One transmission wasn't received, and the other was unreadable. One week earlier, the military and air traffic control officials at the airport had met to discuss communication issues. The NTSB says it is continuing to investigate. Joe Hernandez and PR news.
President Trump has signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America, and PR's Liz Baker reports that in Rochester, New York, Beach Cores greeted the news with "derision and defiance." A Florida grand jury found that Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis' administration misappropriated $10 million dollars it diverted to a charity run by his wife and was later used for political purposes. The grand jury said it did not have enough information to file criminal charges. The grand jury report was published by CBS News Miami.
DeSantis says no laws were broken and promised consequences for whoever leaked the sealed document. Democratic nominee for Governor David Jolly says the grand jury probe should be reopened. Today marks the 20th anniversary of the com air flight, 5191 crash in Lexington, Kentucky, Shepherd Snyder from W.E.K.U. reports the crash led to airline safety changes.
The plane's pilot mistakenly taxied onto the wrong runway and crashed before taking flight. 49 people died in the crash, including all 47 passengers and two of the three crew members. Jerry Van Derby runs the 5191 Memorial Committee and hosted a service at the University of Kentucky Arboridam. We became connected to the lives of those on the flight.
We may not have personally known someone who perished on the crash by the often have heard and in the years to come of others who intimately knew someone on the flight.
