Searching rescue operations are in their fourth day after catastrophic flooding along the
Nepal China border.
“Helicopters are working to rescue people who are stranded in some of the hardest-hit areas”
after poor weather temporarily grounded flights. Ejana Rajah and her husband are from northern California. They were on one of the buses at a border checkpoint in Nepal when the rushing water ice mud into breeze swept through the area. It just came like a roll.
It sucked a bunch of buses. SUVs, people. The base gap, everything crews are also digging through several feet of mud at a hydropower project where people are believed trapped inside a tunnel.
The death toll in Nepal stands at more than 600 with nearly 3000 other still missing,
including about 90 Americans. Congressional Democrats are preparing for the possibility that President Trump could try to undermine November's elections by claiming fraud or interfering in the voting process.
“A task force of lawmakers staff and outside experts is preparing for potential efforts”
to disrupt the midterms and PR's Eric McDaniel reports. The goal is simple. Here's Senator Lisa Blunrodchester, Democrat of Delaware. Our goal is to protect this election before the election happens during the election and after the election.
Members have already played a central role in challenging administration efforts to obtain state voter roles in limit mail and voting. Senate Task Force staff have also prepared a list of roughly 100 possible threats, including the prospect of a national election emergency declaration from the White House and the presence of federal troops and polling locations.
The Homeland Security official told NPR, ICE agents would not be dispatched to the polls and the administration wouldn't engage in what they described as hypotheticals, Eric McDaniel and PR News Washington. The Department of Homeland Security has detained far-right British political commentator, Milo Ianopoulos, Brooke Thorrington from member station, WWNO reports, ICE officers
arrested him this week at New Orleans International Airport. Immigration officials accused Ianopoulos of overstaying after entering the U.S. legally in May 2019. They say an immigration judge issued a final order of removal July 22nd after Ianopoulos failed to show for his hearing.
Ianopoulos rose to fame in the early 2010s as an incinerary conservative writer. He has been an outspoken supporter of immigration enforcement. The former associate of the rapper Yee, formerly known as Kanye West, was arrested ahead of Yee's Friday concert at the Superdom. The rest comes amid an increase in immigration detentions as part of President Trump's
crackdown. For NPR News, I'm Brooke Thorrington and New Orleans. This is NPR News. The world's top cardiovascular health groups have agreed to issue new global guidance on heart attack symptoms in an attempt to end the misdiagnosis of women.
Vicky Barker reports from London. Heart attacks in women are often this because the symptoms, which can include nausea, dizziness, and breathlessness, and their causes, can present differently than in-man, British cardiologist Nick Mills, helped draft the new guidelines. He told the BBC.
“We now recognize that all different acute causes of a heart attack are equally important,”
including those that occur more commonly in women, and not just those that are caused by cholesterol and clots in the arteries. The new guidelines upgrade the three types of heart attacks that are up to 10 times more
common in women, ensuring women get fast tracked for crucial diagnostic tests and where
necessary intervention. For NPR News, I'm Vicky Barker in London. The grand ol' oppree will honor Dolly Parton tonight with the special tribute celebrating her life in music, most of the artists taking the stage will perform one of Parton songs. The country icon first performed at the oppree when she was just 13 and became an official
