President Trump Friday signed an executive order to begin creating a U.S.
Space Academy.
“He made the announcement in Houston while visiting NASA's Johnson Space Center.”
And PR's Franco Ordonias reports. >> President Trump traveled to Houston to honor members of the Artemis 2 crew with the congressional space Medal of Honor. Before handing out the medals, he announced his plans to create a new training academy for military and civilian engineers.
It's called the U.S. Space Academy. That's a big deal. >> Trump said the new school would be modeled after the military academy in West Point. The U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis and other top military academies. >> They're all great, but we're going to have now a space force.

“acted illegally by blacklisting it earlier this year.”
The judge said the move amounted to unlawful retaliation and PR's John Ruach reports. >> The ruling stems from a festering dispute between anthropic and the Pentagon. The two sides disagreed earlier this year over how the military could use anthropics AI and in February Defense Secretary Pete Hegsev designated anthropic a national security supply chain risk.
That label's been used in the past for institutions affiliated with foreign adversaries like China, Iran, North Korea and Russia. Anthropics sued the Pentagon in March. The ruling in its favor issued Thursday says the government illegally blacklisted anthropic
trying to make an example out of them because they were critical of the administration's
views. And the statement Anthropics says it's focused on working productively with the government to harness AI for national security. John Ruach and PR news.

The Massachusetts mother was accused of murdering her three children in 2023. Deborah Becker of member station WBOR is covering the trial she outlines what the jury is considering. >> There are a couple of options for the jury which has made up of nine women in three men, those include convicting her a first-degree murder or finding her not guilty because
of her mental health. Now to reach that verdict, they'd have to find she did not know right from wrong or that she could not obey the law. Now these so-called insanity defenses rarely succeed. But in this case, criminal defense attorney say a jury might believe that the only reason
a mother would do something like this is if she was mentally ill. >> Delaborations in the case will resume on Monday. The Trump administration Friday appealed a federal court order blocking President Trump's executive order that would limit voting by mail in an earlier ruling the Supreme Court allowed the administration to work on the plan but did not decide whether it's legal.
You're listening to NPR news. The U.S. Southern Command said Friday that Colombian forces have captured a suspected leader of the Venezuelan gang, Trendey Arrogoa. The say Luis Sal Perez Nieto was captured on Thursday, Colombian officials say he co-ordinated the gang's weapons and drug trafficking networks across the region.
Colombia and the U.S. have strengthened joint cooperation against organized crime since the election of Colombia's conservative presidents.
Users under 21 have bet more than $5 billion this year on the prediction market site
Kashi. And Pierce Bobby Allen has more. Make-shmarket app Kashi turns virtually everything into a wager. Sports, elections, reality TV, and national policy, like how many deportations the Trump administration will carry out this year.
The data from Paradise estimates that $173 billion has been bet on the site this year and about $5 billion of that was wagered by teenagers and young adults under 21. Critics of prediction market say Kashi and Polymarket have effectively lowered the gambling age in the U.S. from 21 to 18 and that's because the companies insist they are not gambling operators, but a type of financial investment known as an events contract.
Kashi says it has deposit limits and other internal safeguards for its youngest users. Bobby Allen and PR news.
