As thousands remain missing in Nepal, three days after devastating flood, Nepalese community
“members in North Texas are waiting to hear from missing friends and relatives.”
Priscilla Rich from Member Station KERA reports. The uncertainty of the condition of missing loved ones has impacted the Nepalese community in North Texas home to over 20,000 nationals. In Nepalese American Chamber of Commerce in Dallas has been overwhelmed with calls of concern, or from those wanting to help.
Shradah Shresta, who grew up in Nepal, is President of the Chamber. She says as a whole, the community is coming together with whatever means they can, but most of all, have not lost hope. The anxiousness, the leading Peter has been tough for all the people who are far away from home, and especially for people who have lost their loved ones.
Shresta says she is planning a vigil in the upcoming days.
I'm Priscilla Rice in Dallas. The flash floods in Nepal have killed more than 670 people, some 3,000 remain missing. President Trump is announcing a U.S. Venezuelan oil deal that he says will provide the
“U.S. majority control of more than 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves in Venezuela.”
A U.S. official says the supply of at-cost oil produced will help fill the U.S. strategic petroleum reserve. The president also says the deal will lead to substantially lower gas prices. But some analysts say this may not be the case. Here's gas buddy, head of petroleum analysis, Patrick DeHan.
Some of the current restraints right now in the market are not necessarily getting oil, but turning it into diesel, gasoline, and jet fuel refining.
And that's where, while the president is hopeful, this will all lower oil prices.
It may not translate to lower fuel prices, simply because the kink in the hose there is turning that oil into something more valuable. He says fuel could take very many years to develop. It's being called the deadliest attack in the war this year, at least 37 people have been killed, dozens more injured, following a Russian drone strike on an arms warehouse outside
Ukraine's capital cave, and Piers Charles Mann's reports from Moscow.
“Russia's defense ministry said it had targeted an ammunition's depot housing components”
for drones. Version of the events essentially confirmed by the authorities in Kiev. Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky acknowledged the warehouse contained drones, shells, mines, and other munitions. But he added that depot was inexplicably located near civilian apartment buildings, an active
criminal negligence that led to multiple secondary explosions in the high casually count. The strike on the munitions depot comes amid a wider Russian campaign targeting both Ukraine's civilian and military infrastructure. As Moscow takes advantage of Ukraine's near total lack of U.S.-made patriot intercept missiles it had used to defend its skies.

In 1959, Johnny Cash welcomed out a little girl from East Tennessee, and 13-year-old Dolly
Parton took the stage. Her performance earned her three-on course that night. One probably became an official member in 1969, and remained one until her death. The memorial performances tonight will include archival footage, montages, and performances by a number of opera members, including Carly Peers.
