The program readiness manager for World Vision, President Trump says his government has reached an agreement with Venezuela that could give the U.S. access to vast amounts of the South American countries untapped oil reserves. John Otis reports.
"In a social media post, Trump called the agreement "the biggest oil deal in world history." But as well as acting president Delcy Rodriguez said, it will allow for the development
of 17 fields in Venezuela with a proven potential of 65 billion barrels of oil.
Under the agreement, the U.S. would partner with an unnamed private company to develop these reserves. Rodriguez said the deal would help revive Venezuela's oil industry, which had fallen
“on hard times after years of mismanagement corruption and U.S. sanctions.”
It comes nearly nine months after U.S. military forces removed authoritarian leader Nicolás Maduro and established a pro-washington government led by Rodriguez. "Or NPR news, I'm John Otis." Experts have said Venezuela's dilapidated oil infrastructure will take years and billions of dollars to rebuild, so a boost in oil production or lower prices at the gas pump are not
likely anytime soon.
A far-right commentator who applauded President Trump's immigration crackdown has been arrested
and deported back to the U.K. As NPR's Chris Arnold reports, the Department of Homeland Security said he was in the country illegally. "Milo Ian Napolis last summer posted on social media quote, "We have got to deport millions
“and millions and millions of people without that nothing else matters."”
It turns out, according to DHS, he himself was in the country illegally, and he has now been deported to the U.K. DHS says when he entered the country in 2019, he had legal status, but he later skipped an immigration hearing. Ian Opolis has sparked controversy for his comments criticizing feminism, Muslims in America,
and his alleged ties to white nationalists. Some in the magamovement have also criticized him for being an ally of former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green, and some were celebrating his arrest, Chris Arnold's NPR News. "You're listening to NPR." Officials in San Antonio, Texas said, "Could be days before electricity is restored.

which also brought flooding and hail to the area. I'm Jerry Clayton, in San Antonio. Three more Confederate memorials have been removed from Capital Square in Richmond, Virginia. The statues honored Confederate General's Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson, Governor William Extrabillie Smith, and Confederate Doctor Hunter Holmes McGuire.
They had been displayed in the public park near the state capital for more than 100 years. During its most recent session, the Virginia State Legislature ordered the statues removal. Efforts to remove Confederate statues from prominent places of honor and Richmond began back in 2018, the statues will be preserved by the San Antonio Valley Battlefields Foundation.
